Justice League: Crisis On 2 Earths

Unless you’re a dedicated fan of Battlestar Galactica (as I am) avoid Battlestar Galactica: The Plan. If you are a fan, you’ll probably like it. The basic premise is to show us what was going on on the Cylon side during the series as they attempted to execute their “plan”.

The narrative is kind of odd, because it literally shows you what was happening in the other room as the series was marching on. It’s a neat idea, if a little disjointed. There aren’t any really big reveals and I personally will never change my mind that all those toasters should have been fried, but it was fun to go back to that world for a bit.

I would watch a lot more sci-fi if it was as gritty and not obsessed with its mythology like BSG was.

I’ve seen this concept knocked about for a few years and I still wonder why you would want a Halo movie. I concede that I’ve only played Halo 3, but while I loved the game and think its among the best I’ve ever played, I found the story quite stupid. It’s written like a middle school scifi fan would write it, inscrutable and filled with self-important twaddle.

Would I like an Alien-style movie with Master Chief type armored guys blowing stuff up? Sure. But not Halo: The Movie.

Natalie Portman returns to the sci-fi fold to star as Jane Foster in the new Thor movie. Marvel Studios announced Tuesday that the Academy Award-nominated actress will play the earthling love interest to superheroic exile Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Producers describe the character as an “updated” take on the sweet Nurse Foster character featured in early issues of the comic book series.

Some interesting choices.

This week, the race narrowed to Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake. The clock is ticking on the decision as the holding deal the studio had on the actors expired Monday, meaning the three are now free to accept other offers.

My preference would probably be for Ryan Reynolds, but Justin Timberlake might surprise. He’s one of the better celebrity hosts they’ve had for SNL in a few years, so he might have the chops to pull it off – but he’s a little skinny for the role.

If you haven’t you should read Green Lantern: Rebirth, for someone like myself who only cared about GL as a member of the Justice League and not much more, it made me a fan.

Michael Moore’s opting to spoof romantic conventions in titling his upcoming documentary “Capitalism: A Love Story,” which addresses the causes of the global economic meltdown.

“It will be the perfect date movie,” Moore said in an announcement Wednesday. “It’s got it all — lust, passion, romance and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day. It’s a forbidden love, one that dare not speak its name. Heck, let’s just say it: It’s capitalism.”

The film is described as focusing on “the disastrous impact that corporate dominance and out-of-control profit motives have on the lives of Americans and citizens of the world.”
