McCain Says Cheney’s Supporting The Spanish Inquisition

I clearly don’t agree with John McCain on practically every issue under the sun, but I’ll say that he’s been pretty consistent in his opposition to torture and in light of Cheney’s torture defense speech today — McCain remains so. And of course it’s worth noting that in this entire debate, Sen. McCain is one of the few people discussing this issue who has actually been tortured.

Is Roberta McCain The Only Republican With A Spine Out There?

Looks like it. But then again, she doesn’t have to appeal to the moonbat hordes that form the spine of the Republican party and who are lapdogs to Boss Limbaugh.

The outspoken and lively 97-year-old mother of Arizona Sen. John McCain appeared Wednesday night on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and was more than willing to go where no Republican—at least publicly–seems willing to go on Rush.

“I don’t know what the man means, I don’t know what the man’s talking about,” McCain said of Limbaugh, when asked about her views on commentators on the left and right.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele had few allies earlier this year when he characterized Rush as “an entertainer” who doesn’t speak for the party. He later apologized.

Steele was “exactly right when he defined this man as an entertainer,” McCain said Wednesday. “And to my horror the Republican Party made him back up on it.”

Anti-American Bigot Chris Simcox Running Vs. John McCain

The founder of the anti-immigration Minutemen has the kinds of positions that normal Americans find repellent… which means its possible he could knock off McCain in the primaries in Arizona. Along with Toomey in Pennsylvania and others I’m sure to pop up in the next year or so, it’ll be fun to see full wingnut engagement for the first time since the early ’90s.

Sidney Reminds Us Why He Lost The Election To The Tune Of 10 Million Votes

Here’s John Sidney McCain, again playing backseat driver to President Obama:

Yes, Sidney reminds us that his economic brain was failed CEO Carly Fiorina, so awesome was she that she nearly destroyed HP and she was so great on the campaign trail for McCain they had to send her off to Siberia before she dumped more water onto their already sinking Titanic.

John McCain, that great evaluator of talent who chose Sarah Palin, one of the dumbest people ever elected to office (it’s a horserace between her and Dubya) as his running mate.

Why can’t Sidney go to work cheating on his second wife rather than carping about what he would have done had over 10 million Americans not rejected his butt?

Somebody Tell John McCain He Lost The Election

McCain wants a rewrite of the stimulus bill? Off the top of my head I can think of 69 million reasons why John McCain doesn’t get a rewrite of the stimulus bill.

The Rats Come Out

Wheeeeeee!

Randy Scheunemann, a senior foreign policy adviser to John McCain, was fired from the Arizona senator’s campaign last week for what one aide called ‘trashing’ the campaign staff, three senior McCain advisers tell CNN.

One of the aides tells CNN that campaign manager Rick Davis fired Scheunemann after determining that he had been in direct contact with journalists spreading ‘disinformation’ about campaign aides, including Nicolle Wallace and other officials.

Explain McCain – Again

So, Sen. McCain is going to hold rallies on election day in New Mexico and Colorado. Tell me if I’m wrong, but shouldn’t the McCain camp be more concerned with getting New Mexico and Colorado voters to the polls rather than to a rally to hear the stump speech again? I could be wrong, but on election day don’t candidates usually go to their home state to vote then to whatever venue the election night party is going to be in?

I’m honestly asking.

Abandon Hope, All Ye Who Enter. Or, John McCain In Florida.

Ouchie.

John McCain’s first rally of the day, in Tampa outside Raymond James Stadium, only drew about 1,100 people. Local reporters noting that at almost the same spot just before the 2004 election, President Bush drew about 15,000 people. Two weeks ago, Obama drew an estimated 8,000.

Republican Gov. Crist, who had previously agreed to do interviews with CNN and various local affiliates, bolted right after the rally with no explanation.

Somebody Tell Me

Why the hell is John McCain in Tennessee today?

Bush vs. Clinton

John McCain has excluded President Bush from his campaign to a far more extensive degree than Al Gore with Bill Clinton. And yet, the ironic thing is Clinton would have helped Gore win – and Florida wouldn’t have been stolen.

Joe The Ubiquitous Presence Calls Obama A Traitor

The McCain campaign repeats the success they had vetting Sarah Palin with Joe The Plumber. If there is a metaphor for McCain ‘08, thats it.

Diabolical Watch

Is Cheney’s last-minute endorsement of McCain a way for Bush to give the finger to McCain, who he never has liked? If so, brilliant.

Sen. Obama, the ball is in YOUR court.

November Surprise! Cheney Endorses McCain

From remarks to be delivered by Sen. Obama

I’d like to congratulate Senator McCain on this endorsement because he really earned it. That endorsement didn’t come easy. Senator McCain had to vote 90 percent of the time with George Bush and Dick Cheney to get it. He served as Washington’s biggest cheerleader for going to war in Iraq, and supports economic policies that are no different from the last eight years. So Senator McCain worked hard to get Dick Cheney’s support.

But here’s my question for you, Colorado: do you think Dick Cheney is delighted to support John McCain because he thinks John McCain’s going to bring change? Do you think John McCain and Dick Cheney have been talking about how to shake things up, and get rid of the lobbyists and the old boys club in Washington?

Colorado, we know better. After all, it was just a few days ago that Senator McCain said that he and President Bush share a “common philosophy.” And we know that when it comes to foreign policy, John McCain and Dick Cheney share a common philosophy that thinks that empty bluster from Washington will fix all of our problems, and a war without end in Iraq is the way to defeat Osama bin Laden and the al Qaeda terrorists who are in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

So George Bush may be in an undisclosed location, but Dick Cheney’s out there on the campaign trail because he’d be delighted to pass the baton to John McCain. He knows that with John McCain you get a twofer: George Bush’s economic policy and Dick Cheney’s foreign policy — but that’s a risk we cannot afford to take.

Thanks Dick!

More of the same.

Tightening!

Obama now leads by 10 in Gallup’s most McCain-friendly measure of the likely voters this election.

McCain’s got us right where he wants us.

Disaster Looming…

People forget that the GOP has recently held the advantage when it comes to get out the vote operations. The unprecedented GOTV for John Kerry in 2004 was beaten by one other… George W. Bush. Part of the reason Howard Dean became the DNC chairman was a commitment to a 50-state strategy predicated on maximizing GOTV. In theory, you would think McCain’s people would ratchet up the arms race. Instead, they’re putting more money into TV?

The vaunted, 72-hour plan that President Bush used to mobilize voters in 2000 and 2004 has been scaled back for McCain. He has spent half as much as Obama on staffing and has opened far fewer field offices. This week, a number of veteran GOP operatives who orchestrate door-to-door efforts to get voters to the polls were told they should not expect to receive plane tickets, rental cars or hotel rooms from the campaign.

‘The desire for parity on television comes at the expense of investment in paid boots on the ground,’ said one top Republican strategist who has been privy to McCain’s plans. ‘The folks who will oversee the volunteer operation have been told to get out into the field on their own nickel.’

Wowsers.

Polls Tightening!

Sen. Obama is up by 8 in Gallup’s traditional voter model. That’s the most McCain friendly measure of the state of the race. Perhaps 30 minutes of prime time tv is a good thing for a candidate (duh!).
