Even funnier, its such a part of Reynolds’ psyche that in order to prove that the media is so biased in favor of Obama (despite the reality) he says they weren’t as soft on Clinton. Why? Because Clinton was from the south.

Furthermore, I’ve learned since then. I’m interested in killing Al Qaeda and destroying their networks (that’s why I support Democrats, because Republicans are clearly uninterested). I don’t – like Glenn Reynolds has – support presidential administrations that define away torture and do so with legal b.s. in order to pervert what America stands for. We don’t get good information from it and its immoral.

KANSAS CITY STAR: Tea Party Movement Captures Real Concerns.

Wow, that’s an interesting position attributed to the entire Kansas City Star newspaper. After all, the star’s editorial board endorsed Obama so this must be quite a turn around for them.

Oh. It’s not an editorial from the Kansas City Star, as Reynolds link leads you to believe. It’s an editorial column from “E. Thomas McClanahan”. Well, let me do a Google and see who this guy is. Maybe he’s someone who has recently changed his mind on Obama, somebody who has an actual disagreement with the President and isn’t just an idealogical columnist.

So, I check. Here’s a sample of the columnist’s work product:

So, a conservative anti-Obama columnist thinks that the Fox News Tea Parties were REALLY IMPORTANT and Glenn Reynolds passes this individual’s opinion off as what? “The Kansas City Star”.

Then I figured, what does the actual Kansas City Star – and not one of it’s conservative columnists – say about the Fox News Tea Parties?

Today also will find a number of frustrated Americans attending “tea parties,” including ones at the Liberty Memorial and Johnson County Community College.

These aren’t exactly grassroots events. They have been organized or hyped largely by conservative-leaning groups, Republican politicians and others opposed to the Obama administration’s plans to get the U.S. economy back on track and to clean up many of the financial messes left by former President George Bush.

While protests against taxes and spending are time-tried rituals, these aren’t exactly on target given the nation’s current crisis.

If Republicans and arch-conservatives really had better ideas — other than the irresponsible one of holding the line on government spending during a recession — they would be out trumpeting those plans.

Instead, ill-defined political rallies are being gussied up as tea parties, implausibly trying to link today’s financial woes to what the Founding Fathers faced more than two centuries ago.

So in fact, the Kansas City Star holds the exact opposite editorial position that Instapundit says the publication has.

Intellectual dishonesty: Glenn Reynolds soaks in it.

UPDATE: Via email, Reynolds tries to defend himself by telling me that he also links to Andrew Malcolm’s LA Times blog by just calling “The LA Times”. Really? You mean the sloppy former Laura Bush PR flack Andrew Malcolm? Well, of course you’d want to pass that off as “The LA Times”.

Instapundit used to try a little bit harder than this to be dishonest.

First Glenn Reynolds writes glowingly in the Murdoch-owned NY Post about the Fox News teabag parties, then today he writes again about the revolutionary impact of the lobbyist organized tea parties in the pages of… the Murdoch-owned Wall Street Journal.

When all those media companies in the late 1990s were talking about synergy, this is the kind of collaborative work amongst corporate siblings they were talking about. Now, sure, they were thinking more of cross-platform merchandising of cute and cuddly cartoon figures, but hey, whatever.

ALSO: I forgot to mention that they are robocalling support for the teabagging parties now.

ALSO: I think I’m going to check out the teabag party in DC… Got to remember to charge up my video camera.

Yes, friends, Glenn Reynolds aka Instapundit has now linked to the 9th person attacking/disagreeing with me (bonus points for it being a self-loathing gay conservative).

UPDATE: Ooooh, this one clearly rankles old Insty, because he actually responded… Oh, no he didn’t. He called me a “shill” for Media Matters and accused me of being on a listserv. Its days like this I’m glad that when I was deciding what side of the political aisle I wanted to be on, I didn’t make the same mistake as Glenn Reynolds and choose the one where we encourage people to shoot cops. Also, kind of funny for Reynolds to call me a shill when he spent years writing articles for a lobbyist and is a key figurehead in the joke that is “PajamasTV”. But whatever, this clearly annoyed The Prickly One.

UPDATE 2: Reynolds has updated his post again. First, “Jim Treacher emails”. Funny, this isn’t the first time that has happened. In the past Reynolds has forwarded me attacks that Jim Treacher, who last I checked is some kind of comedy writer for the unfunny RedEye show on Fox News (apparently Treacher doesn’t write for Red Eye, but wrote a blog for the unfunny guy who hosts the ridiculously unfunny Redeye or some crap that I don’t care about, but I do know for sure Treacher sends cowardly emails to Reynolds about me), sent to him. Apparently they’re some kind of email buddies and Treacher isn’t the guy who can’t talk to your face without big bad Instapundit to back him up.

Then, Reynolds characterizes himself as “an early booster of Oliver Willis’s blogging career”. Hmmm. I started blogging a while before he did, and in the aftermath of 9/11 we linked back and forth. We agreed on the invasion of Afghanistan, but when Reynolds started advocating for the invasion of Iraq and calling those who were against it pro-Saddam anti-Americans I and others called that out for the bullshit it is and was. Reynolds, as is the usual tactic from him and the right, tries somehow to change history and make out that when I began working for Media Matters it changed my outlook on things. Oh, to be as intellectually dishonest as Glenn Harland Reynolds and have to look at yourself in the mirror every morning, knowing that you’ve built an entire media persona and career filled with excrement and that you’re past the point of no return on it. I would have sympathy for him, but he signed up for it on his own and churns out swill every day without anybody compelling him to.

Furthermore, Reynolds has an almost patholigical aversion to pushing out his own position and instead hides behind others. My guess is he does it because he’s wrong so often and get called on it, it must be easier to just link to someone and say “Heh. Read the whole thing.” Or say “so and so emailed me to say x”. Some of us, especially some of us liberals, have the balls to put our own opinions up and stand behind them.

Not to pat myself on the back – but I will anyways – I am one of those people.

ALSO: Don Surber jumps on Reynolds idiot train as well, doing the conservative thing they always do by trying to use a totally unrelated recent event as comparison. Surber’s argument is that because I didn’t write about the shooting in Oakland, somehow I can’t write about this one. Does the right understand that we are completely on to this silly game of theirs? We’ve watched it for years. The mainstream media laps up this “two sides” bull, but we don’t.

The shooting in Oakland was horrible, but the guy who did it was just a bad guy. The killing in Pittsburgh was the result of right-wingers spreading disinformation. This guy, already disturbed, was apparently helped over the edge by conspiracy theories pushed by the mainstream right in America.

August notes: “Wow, Oliver, you know you’ve pissed off Instapundit when he has to link to five other people’s thoughts.” Heh. Indeed.

A writer at Volokh report cites happiness studies to try and prove that people on Fox News haven’t been pushing paranoia about Obama being anti-gun (which is what I and others have ben saying). Or something. Oh, conservatives…. distraction is the name of the game.

Of course, its just him, but Reynolds has a vested interest in fooling his readers that there’s a rising popular sentiment versus the president, when in fact popular sentiment remains widely in favor of President Obama. But let’s take a look at the writer of this headline and note his new turn vs. Obama (according to Reynolds). His name is Jimmy Orr, and this is his previous work on the Christian Science Monitor site:

I mean, it’s like the guy is a blogger who likes writing silly-ass headlines and its not any sort of evidence about the national sentiment moving against President Obama like Glenn Reynolds and his band of idiotic John Galt cosplayers want it to be so they can have their tea parties.

Of course, Reynolds doesn’t note that it’s an opinion piece. Nor does he note that the author is one Michael Goodwin. So, what kind of stuff does Michael Goodwin write? I mean, this must be someone who’s been mighty positive about Obama and has now turned on him (no doubt from the dozens and dozens of whiners going to tea parties and “Going Galt”, this year’s version of “Ridin’ Dirty)?
