“Austrian incest suspect Josef Fritzl tried to make money from his crimes by selling his police interrogation transcripts to British tabloid newspapers, a German magazine reports. Fritzl, 73, stands accused of imprisoning and raping his daughter, Elisabeth Fritzl, for 24 years in a basement dungeon. He is also charged with murder, as one of the seven children his daughter bore in the dungeon beneath his house died shortly after birth.” [Link]
“The report by psychiatrist Adelheid Kastner says Joseph Fritzl’s mother humiliated him in childhood, creating his need to ‘possess a human being’. Mr Fritzl said he had an ‘evil streak’ and that he ‘could have behaved a lot worse than locking up my daughter’.” [Link]
“A total of 183 parliamentary seats were up for grabs. If preliminary results are confirmed, the right-wing Freedom Party will have 35 seats, up from 21 after the last elections in 2006. The Alliance for the Future of Austria, led by Joerg Haider, will have 21, up from seven.
