I Feel Ill...
Jim Fassel is apparently the frontrunner? Um, it's not like this guy was exactly on an upward trajectory when the Giants fired him. Granted, Gregg Williams had a lousy run as head coach of the Bills, but at least he's already here and in theory the entire system won't have to be thrown out the window like every new coach loves to do in the NFL. But Jim Fassel? Argh. Nobody's going to replace Coach Gibbs, but that just seems like a letdown waiting to happen.
Former New York Giants coach Jim Fassel has interviewed twice for the Washington Redskins' vacant head coaching position, according to league sources, and has become a leading candidate to get the position. Fassel completed his last interview Monday and flew back to his home in Arizona, sources said, and he and Gregg Williams, the Redskins' assistant head coach-defense, are the only people to meet with owner Daniel Snyder more than once.
Why do certain teams feel that recycling coaches is the best way to go? Sheesh. Go with somebody younger and that thinks differently.
Fassel was a good coach. He DID take the Giants to the Super Bowl (despite getting crushed by the Ravens) and that's a big accomplishment, but sometimes a team needs new blood, not more of the same.
I think a new term should be coined. When you get saddled with a new leader that was picked because of flashiness over substance, someone should say to you "You've been Snydered!"
Maybe The Dan should do the coaching himself.
No! No! And no! Don't forget he got fired by the Ravens too. The freakin' Ravens!
