NFL Annus Horribilis: Samari Rolle Says Official Called Him Boy
The NFL is investigating an allegation by Baltimore Ravens cornerback Samari Rolle that an official spoke to him in a demeaning fashion late in Monday night's loss to the New England Patriots.Rolle said that head linesman Phil McKinnely referred to him as "boy."
Rolle told reporters: "The refs called me a boy. Number 110 [McKinnely] called me a boy. I will be calling my agent in the morning and sending my complaint. I have a wife and three kids. Don't call me a boy. Don't call me a boy . . . because I said, 'You've never played football before.' "

The thing is, McKinnely's black, so racism doesn't apply here. Ageism, maybe.

Based on Rolle's quote, it doesn't sound like he's accusing the ref of using the racist, slave-era connotations of "boy," it sounds like he's pissed that the ref accused him of being immature.
Although really, he's pissed because the Ravens had the Patriots on the ropes and couldn't score the knockout. Everything else is tantrum.
Spider: I mention racism only because OW gave it that category (along with NFL and race). He may have initially assumed - as I did, truth be told - that McKinnely was white.
I just noticed the category. You're right (and yes, I assumed the complaint was of racism at first, as well).
Yeah I assumed the person in question was white from the way Rolle responded and how the stories were written.
I like how after Oliver (and others) finds out the ref is black, it's not considered racism. But if a white guy said it ....

I like how fucking retards like yourself don't think race matters when it comes to racism. You are incapable of understanding that different circumstances lead to different conclusions. This is why you are a conservative. (And yes, that was as insulting as you think it was. Probably more so.)
Calling any man a boy is derogatory. A white man calling a black man a boy is a common form of racism is the south. A black man calling a black man a boy is just derogatory.
But if a white guy said it ....
