Larry Craig: It's Not The Bathroom Trolling

| | Comments (7)

Why is the idea percolating that because Larry Craig was apparently hooking up with men in a public bathroom that that's why he should leave the Senate? Honestly, who cares about his orientation except to point out when he hypocritically votes against gays? I see the main issue as a public official getting arrested then purposefully hiding it from his constituents. If your senator gets busted, shouldn't you know? That's the main wrong in what Craig did, and not the supposed "ick" factor.

It's not the crime, it's the cover up. Where have we heard that before?

It's not even that. For Republicans, it matters what crime you cover up. Gay sex solicitation? Give him the chair. Bribery? Not an issue, the Democrats are trying to criminalize politics as usual.

Right LeGrande...it's just that "liberul media" who are unfairly smearing Republicans again.

nah, it's because he's gay.

haven't you ever met a republican?

Given the right has the likes of Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin...any man would turn gay given the circumstances!

No, jrc has it right. Craig is a naive fool - he has seen the steady parade of morally & criminally challenged repubs the last few years - DeLay, Vitter, Cunningham, Libby, Ney, everyone from Alaksa, etc. - end every time the GOP closed ranks & defended them all, even in the face of undeniable evidence of douchebaggery. He figured he'd get the same support.

But he forgot how vile the GOP base considers teh homosecks.

there is literally no crime the GOP won't forgive - adultery, incompetence, war profiteering, even treason - but even a hint of teh ghey? DOOM.

Craig's childlike stupidity almost evokes pity, but then I remember that, when he could have just kept a low profile on gay issues, he instead chose to be a loudmouthed leader against any sort of equality or acceptance.

If Craig's not gay, then this is a delicious piece of irony - being hounded out by the same homophobia he's stoked for decades. But if he is, then there is little evil he doesn't deserve for shamelessly sacrificing the gay community for political power.

I hope he succeeds in proving his is not legally gay. It seems very important to him.
