Amanda Carpenter Blames Inhaler Issue On Obama, Lies When Caught
Tweet
So Demint aide and former Townhall contributor Amanda Carpenter was on Twitter blaming the impending end of over the counter asthma inhalers on President Obama:
One of the stories about the issue Carpenter linked to made this note:
The FDA finalized plans to phase out the products in 2008 and currently only Armstrong Pharmaceutical’s Primatene mist is available in the U.S. Other manufacturers have switched to an environmentally-friendly propellant called hydrofluoroalkane.
Now I, being a sentient human being, took notice of the fact that when the FDA made these plans in 2008, Barack Obama was not President of the United States. The President at the time was George W. Bush, someone who Carpenter was a big supporter of. When I pointed this out to her, her response was the following:
She acts now as if she wasn’t solely blaming Obama for this, as if she previously had said Obama is incorrectly enforcing a policy passed under Bush. But if you simply scroll down to a few minutes earlier, she’s very clearly blaming this policy on “Obama’s EPA” and claim that this is something the “Obama Admin wants to ban.”
EXCEPT THE BAN WAS AGREED TO UNDER BUSH.
This is how a liar operates. This is your modern conservative movement, in action.
(h/t to @toddgregory who is similarly appalled by this kind of blatant lying)
UPDATE: The Weekly Standard also blames this Bush administration decision on Obama, continuing proof that conservatives don’t or can’t read basic information.
After I posted about her lie, Amanda Carpenter has gone silent on this issue, and has not retracted her false allegation. Instead she went on to discuss relevant issues like the break-up of REM.

You might also note that several Pundits have quoted deficit figures from 2006; apparently thinking a democratic Congress is enough control to shift the blame for the deficit spending. But try to blame the Republican Congress for our current mess? Nope. Even though I can make a good argument that the Republican constant threat to shut down the Govt. if their spending cuts aren’t implemented; is a major factor in the stock market instability.
Don’t ever try and get between a wingnut and their talking points. Just don’t bother. Their little minds are made up and no amount of facts or evidence will ever sway them from the Luntz approved speech patterns. They stick to the simple words and phrases and they repeat them over and over and over again.
Fucking cult members.
She’s already deleted those messages. Typical wingnut coward.
What’s this crazy witch whining about? Aren’t low priced drugs socialisms or some other kind of -ism? Not to mention bad for profits? I thought Republicans were all for raking in the bucks no matter who got hurt in the end.
Wha… But, Oliver DIDN’T say it was OK for Obama to do it. He’s saying Obama’s not the one who agreed to this in the first place.
What’s next “Just because Bush nearly ran over reporters with a bulldozer doesn’t mean it’s OK for Obama to do it.”?
Liquid bronchodialators use a special medical grade propellant. The old propellant is an Ozone Depleting Substance. The propellant was changed to comply with the Montreal Protocol. The FDA at the time did a lot of research to insure there was going to be adequate supply of the new non-ODS propellants before a timeline for compliance was established. Because of the large utilization of liquid inhalers in the US (compared with the “dry” powdered inhalers more prevalent in other parts of the world) it was necessary to seek waivers to delay US compliance with the Montreal Protocol for a number of years. We were pretty far behind the rest of the world complying with this.
This woman has no idea what she’s talking about.
“This woman has no idea what she’s talking about.”
She’s a Republican…nuff said
I guess this proves you don’t have to have brains or talent to be a Townhall.com contributor.
She’s a stupid idiot/buffoon. Really.
If you’re gonna lie, make it believable. It takes no freaking talent to keep mouthing the same old bunch of crap over and over again when everyone knows it’s a damn lie!
This is who they are.
A third of America (including the obvious suspects here) believe any outrageous crap that they spew so no wonder they just keep doing it. It’s the other two-thirds that “just don’t get it” according to them.
So you’re saying that the Obama administration’s EPA will not be implementing the ban? Or are you saying that it is a bad idea because Pres Bush wanted to do it, but it becomes a good idea when Pres Obama decides to go ahead with it?
Or are you saying “Yadda, yadda, yadda, Bush bad!” “Blah, blah, blah, Obama good!”
What the hell is your point, anyway ?

Yep, because blaming Obama for finishing a process that started during the Bush Administration is such a mature form of political criticism.
Or are you saying that it is a bad idea because Pres Bush wanted to do it, but it becomes a good idea when Pres Obama decides to go ahead with it?
That’s a question you should ask Ms. Carpenter, with good and bad switching places in your original formulation.
Or are you saying “Yadda, yadda, yadda, Bush bad!” “Blah, blah, blah, Obama good!”
Who on this thread has blamed Bush for anything, Frank,
As my most recent post asks, Do you know how to read, old man?
Frank DiSalle is an intelligent person… any questions?
Hey – that bit about posting a blatant lie and asking “any questions?” is kind of fun, sometimes.
Frank,
The point is that Amanda Carpenter made a point of blaming President Obama for something the EPA under President Bush announced. Whether or not you accept that the chemicals banned harm the environment is not the issue. Her intellectual dishonesty, or at least negligence, is.
Really, don’t even bother explaining this shit to Frank. He’s too addled to do anything other than repeat what Rush Limbaugh tells him too.
When’s your next government hand-out, courtesy of my tax dollars, headed your way Frankie?
Jaim,
I do it to prove that one does not have to be abuseive to Frank to poke holes in his arguments. He tends to ignore me, so I’m inclined to believe that there is some sort of perverse pleasure he gets with abuseing & being abused by those here.
Frank has more problems than he can count. He is, however, limited to counting only up to 20 problems, so long as he’s not wearing socks.
mambo,
The joke is that the guy can’t count past 10 without taking off his shoes. That is he has to count to ten on his fingers & then has to use his toes to get to 20. Whether typo or mistake, your rendition was funnier.
Her intellectual dishonesty, or at least negligence, is.
Maybe I should have just said, “Big deal”. After all, who the hell is Amanda Carpenter, anyway?
And, by the way, db , you are wrong on two counts: for most of these intellectual featherweights, like burn, mambochicken, dark avenger, and jaim, being abusive is the only they can see themselves as poking holes in my arguments.
Secondly, I don’t like being abused, but I do like the idea that in each and every thread, the exact same people react like puppets on a string to a simple counter to their ill-formed, poorly parsed, and undocumented assertions.
And your response to mambochicken is rather abusive , as well, and it’s not the first, so, apparently despite your Pilate-like efforts to wash your hands of the stink of being abusive like your fellow liberals, you, like them, just can’t help yourself.
BTW, jaim, I contacted the Treasury and told them to send your tax dollars to every other disabled veteran on social security but me. They have agreed, so you can shut the fuck up now.
db, yes, I know the joke. Mine was a variant on it, and I don’t know if you misread it, but I think there’s no mistake in my delivery.
Frank: db is one of a very small number of people on this blog who don’t abuse you and your subnormally functioning brain, and you proceed to be a dick to him. Funny, that.
being abusive is the only they can see themselves as poking holes in my arguments.
It is well documented that the only words you see in any of our posts are those that support your completely skewed perception of liberals as big meanies. Those other words, when we absolutely destroy your stupid, stupid arguments? Those times when we fillet your stinking carcass and leave it to cure in the sunlight of the truth? You don’t ever notice that. It’s like your eyes are incapable of seeing it. You’re blind, Frank, and that’s sad.
And, by the way, db , you are wrong on two counts: for most of these intellectual featherweights, like burn, mambochicken, dark avenger, and jaim, being abusive is the only they can see themselves as poking holes in my arguments
You see poking holes in your arguments as abusive, Frank, or should I say, Renfro Swoop?:
That’s the White House spin , proving once again that Obama could shit in your mouth and you’d call it oatmeal …
Oh, and fuck you, asshole !
Thanks for the feedback, Renfro(snicker, snicker).
Nice alias, Frankie.
Frank, don’t go throw a pity party for yourself because people treat you as you deserve to be treated. The reason they treat you the way they do is because you have no interest in holding an actual discussion. All you do is throw around baseless claims and arguments not to address a point, but for its own sake. Just now, you responded to the counterarguments to your initial point with this:
See what happened? Instead of bothering to address said arguments, you handwaved the entire discussion. The one you started. You demonstrated that you never had any interest in making a valid point, but rather you make a baseless claim to call attention to yourself, and whine about “abuse” when you get called out on it.
If you act like a troll, don’t be surprised if you’re treated as such.
I like the shotgun effect to the tweets. “And another thing…!”
Mambo,
You’re right, I misread the line. And I did not intend to be abusive. Sorry.
Frank,
I am having real difficulties in seeing how it is “Pilate like” in not abusing you with the stream of abuse & vulgarities you normally receive here. I’ll admit I can be sarcastic. But there’s something interesting in the fact if I am Pilate, then you are Christ. Do you really see yourself that way? Do you see the personal abuse you receive here as some sort of suffering or sacrifice for our sins?
Equally Pilate refused to exercise the authority he had, to prevent the execution of a man he knew to be innocent, for political purposes. Are you asserting that I have any authority at all over the guys here? If so how? And if so, guys, I don’t know which of us should be laughing harder. Then, if I have such authority, how would I go about using it? It’s early, but you’ve got me befuddled.
You’re right, I misread the line. And I did not intend to be abusive. Sorry.
Ha, no db, it’s totally okay. I didn’t think you were abusive in the slightest. It was Frank’s contention that you were so, and one that I think is basically nonsensical. No need to apologize.
