The Hollywood Reporter says that Russell Crowe is in talks to play Jor-El, Superman’s birth father, in the upcoming movie. That’s an interesting casting choice. Crowe is one of my favorite actors.

Decent choice to fill the shoes once worn by Brando… My only quibble is the casting of ‘forsign’ actors to play parts of essentially ‘American’ characters (not altogether different than the bitching of the Brits over casting Elijah Wood and Sean Astin for their roles in LoTR)…

That said, if he takes the role I’m certain he’ll be awesome as Jor-El

Crowe has had a couple of misses lately. His last real hit he co-starred with Denzel Washington in “American Gangster”. To me, his best performance was as Bud White in “LA Confidential.”
