NY Post! Broadband! Race Baiting! Rahm Emanuel! Obama!

5:47 pm EST June 1st, 2011 | Conservative, Media | 32 Comments

This story has it all.

NY Post writer Abby W. Schachter attempts to conjure controversy out of thin air by describing a program that provides internet access to low-income families as some sort of political payoff to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Schacter even goes to News Corp.’s race-baiting well by complaining that “poor blacks in Chicago” are the beneficiaries of this supposed payoff.

SPOILER: It isn’t true.

    This story has it all.

Not exactly. This story doesn’t have a married Congressman sending a picture of his junk to a coed halfway across the country, then claiming multiple accounts of his were hacked, then refusing to press charges against the individual(s) who committed identity theft against a public official and potentially gained access to top-secret information.

Now THAT’s a story with everything! Oh, except the Congressman in question has a D behind their name instead of an R. Guess it doesn’t have “everything” after all…

  2. Randy Brown says:

Stop trying to change the subject, bitch.

  3. Christopher Foxx says:

    And get your facts straight.

  4. Enlightened Liberal says:

No, Ferris finally found a decent equivalence- the story isn’t true.

  5. Zython says:

Let me ask you something. If this story’s true, then why was it broken by Andrew Breitbart, a man who has never told a truth in his miserable life? Further, why would you choose to believe him, other than that you want it to be true that badly?

then refusing to press charges against the individual(s) who committed identity theft against a public official and potentially gained access to top-secret information.

Well, does he have evidence that the people who he believes did it actually did it? If not, it would be pretty foolish to press charges, now wouldn’t it?

And even if we were to assume that Weiner DID do what Breitbart & Co. claimed he did (not bloody likely), the right’s constant harassment of the young woman in question is still FAR creepier and deranged than the incident that started it.

  6. Ol Froth says:

Even if evidence exists his accounts were hacked, it would be pretty hard to make a criminal case, as most of the laws dealing with this sort of thing requires some sort of financial loss on the part of the victim. Far easier to persue a civil case against any fraudster (and sending a pick of an underware clad shlong probably isn’t criminal anyway…prove its a penis under there!)

  7. SaveFarris says:

If the story’s false, then Weiner has Brietbart dead to rights: accessory to fraud, criminal conspiracy, the whole truckload. Even there’s no conviction, the whole process would embarrass not just Brietbart, but the entire RW media. Weiner can END Brietbart’s career, not to mention send him to jail.

    … So why doesn’t he?

Well, does he have evidence that the people who he believes did it actually did it? If not, it would be pretty foolish to press charges, now wouldn’t it?

Surely if he’s innocent, he has evidence of it. He can prove that the IP address that submitted the tweets and picture in question didn’t come from any device he owns.

If he’s not then it’s pretty reckless, not to mention unethical, to make the accusations he’s already made.

Even if evidence exists his accounts were hacked, it would be pretty hard to make a criminal case

Tell Sarah Palin. Her e-mail was hacked. The difference is, she contacted the authorities. Now, the offender is in jail. Why won’t Weiner?

  8. August J. Pollak says:

Haha he decided to bring up Weiner.

I just won me a bet!

  9. August J. Pollak says:

Tell Sarah Palin. Her e-mail was hacked.

No, it wasn’t. She’s just an idiot. Don’t be governor, illegally use Yahoo for government business, and then use “what town were you born in” as your security question.

Look up “social engineering” so you stop sounding as dumb as her.

  10. August J. Pollak says:

Surely if he’s innocent, he has evidence of it. He can prove that the IP address that submitted the tweets and picture in question didn’t come from any device he owns.

Holy shit you literally just pulled this out of your ass.

I know I’m posting multiple comment here but it is amazing how many little bits of bullshit you are spewing just to obsessively talk about a congressman’s penis. And no one was even talking about it. It was, like, you literally just couldn’t hold it in anymore. Jesus Christ, dude.

  11. August J. Pollak says:

and potentially gained access to top-secret information.

Seriously where did you come up with this? How are you not embarrassed to feel forced to copy and paste stuff like that? Do you even care?

  12. Quaker in a Basement says:

Even there’s no conviction, the whole process would embarrass not just Brietbart, but the entire RW media.

You mean like they were embarrassed when the ACORN story turned out to be a big, fat lie? Or how they were embarrassed when the Shirley Sherrod story turned out to be a big, fat lie? Or how they were embarrassed when the Oh-My_God-Union-Thug-University-Professors story turned out to be a big, fat lie?

Breitbart and the RW media CAN’T be embarrassed because they have no sense of shame for making up bullshit scandals again and again.

  13. Quaker in a Basement says:

    Now, Farris, NY Post story?

  14. August J. Pollak says:

Quaker, hold off a minute, please. I expect Farris to explain everything he just said. I want a source for “He can prove that the IP address that submitted the tweets and picture in question didn’t come from any device he owns.” I want a description of “Sarah Palin’s email being hacked.” And I really, REALLY want his source for what “top-secret information” might be pulled from breaking into a person’s…. Twitter account.

I want to learn more about the mind of Farris. I want to understand what makes him just…. SAY this stuff.

  15. Quaker in a Basement says:

    No further questions. Your witness.

GET YOUR OWN FUCKING BLOG IF YOU WANT TO DREAM OF WEINER’S PENIS.

Jesus, you clown tards always complain about the content here but keep coming back surprised it’s not Ace of Spades or Ann Althouse.

  18. Jaim says:

    “Why won’t Weiner?”

Well, he did lawyer up and hire a private investigator. This isn’t over yet.

  19. Meanwhile, the NY Post is still lying. Also, too, Andrew Breitbart continues to lie. Will the surprises never stop?

  20. db says:

    Guys,

    Chill.

The whole point of “Pulling a Farris” is to sidetrack the conversation, make a lot of absurd/unsupported/unprovable claims & get everyone’s later up. The volume of the responses is the point.

    AJ,

Farris says the stuff to get to you & have you tearing your hair in frustration. There is no motivation beyond that. The issues don’t matter, there can be no resolution, the heat of the debate is his only goal.

  21. August J. Pollak says:

I’m not tearing my hair at all. I think he’s hilarious. I think watching him trying to explain the crap he pasted from a chain email will be delightful. My mental image of Farris continues to be a small child who screamed really loud in church or a school assembly and then as soon as everyone turned and looked at him he made a squeaking noise and then pissed himself.

  22. Enlightened Liberal says:

I want to learn more about the mind of Farris. I want to understand what makes him just…. SAY this stuff.

I’m thinking a liberal girl beat his ass when he was about 10 and he can’t seem to get over it.

I thought it was posting a link that perfectly disproves the point he was trying to make?

  24. db says:

    EL,

Did I confuse “Pulling a Farris” & “Doing a Dennis”?

  25. [...] Why is the New York Post‘s Abby W. Schachter trying to concoct a story that is patently false? [...]

  26. Randy Brown says:

My mental image of Farris continues to be a small child who screamed really loud in church or a school assembly and then as soon as everyone turned and looked at him he made a squeaking noise and then pissed himself.

And then pointed to the priest and said, “You’re gonna die up there!”

  27. Christopher Foxx says:

SaveFarris: Even there’s no conviction, the whole process would embarrass not just Brietbart, but the entire RW media.

You can’t embarrass those who have no sense of shame.

Surely if he’s innocent, he has evidence of it.

Yes, because in America the standard is guilty until proven innocent.

  28. Christopher Foxx says:

August J. Pollack: I want to learn more about the mind of Farris. I want to understand what makes him just…. SAY this stuff.

The same mental illness that afflicts all wingnuts and “conservatives”. It’s a condition that renders them utterly unable to accept reality if it conflicts with the prejudices they want to hold dear, that compells them to insist that reality is as they want it to be (even though they actually do know that it isn’t).

They simply can’t help themselves. Pity them.

  29. Christopher Foxx says:

db: Farris says the stuff to get to you & have you tearing your hair in frustration. There is no motivation beyond that. The issues don’t matter, there can be no resolution, the heat of the debate is his only goal.

Which is why any response to Farris should only ever be “I understand. You have my pity.” and then hang up. Let’s try that for a while.

  30. Christopher Foxx says:

August: I think watching him trying to explain the crap he pasted from a chain email will be delightful.

But he never explains. He can’t, so he doesn’t. It’s one of the symptoms: post unsupportable lies, don’t ever support them.

    Do they enjoy being abused?!

  32. August J. Pollak says:

Oh look, he ran away. Again.

    What a loser.
