  1. Buzz Killington says:

You’re really this desperate? Did you consider Obama stupid when he made his 57 state misstatement?

  2. Dennis again brings on the lutz, from Palin Hires Nutty Researcher for Possible Campaign:

I don’t see a head-to-head matchup between Palin and Obama in that month-old article you dug up from your G-drive archives, DA, but you only bring my point home all the more profoundly.

Nah, I just used teh Google.

“More tears are shed over answered than unanswered prayers.”

You really think the poll numbers would be significantly different because they’re a month old compared to what they would be now?

You really should quit the meth before it burns more holds in your pre-frontal lobes, Dennis.

As for your question, get out your hankie:

    Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney has the best chance of beating President Obama out of the hotly contested field of GOP candidates eying a presidential run in 2012, according to a poll released by Quinnipiac University yesterday.

But the same poll also has former Alaska Gov. and reality TV star Sarah Palin inching ahead to take the Republican nomination.

“That’s a perennial problem of nominations — the candidate who appeals to the primary voters are often not the ones who have the best chance of winning,” said Boston College political professor Marc Landy.

Romney would take 45 percent of the vote to Obama’s 44 percent in a poll of 2,424 registered voters across the country conducted between Nov. 8 and 15. The poll has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.

While Obama beats Palin in a head-to-head match with 48 percent of the vote against Palin’s 40, Palin is the front-runner in the Republican primary by 1 slim percentage point.

This woman who is so unpopular, not qualified in the opinion of so many, such high unfavorables…..how could she be polling evenly with Superman Huxtable, The One, the Messiah, almost like God, the guy who single-handedly saved the world from depression and passed HCR?

Well, the half-governor isn’t polling evenly with Obama,
but this leads to my next question:

What color is the sky in your part of VA?

  3. Dennis says:

This is like correcting someone on one of these threads about his incorrect use of an apostrophe, or a common spelling error when one types too fast, or it’s for its or they’re for their.

This is what happens when one ignores suggestions they seek treatment for Palin Derangement Syndrome.

    It’s come to this.

  4. Dennis says:

What color is the sky in your part of VA?

You’re on the wrong thread, mook.

  5. You’re on the wrong thread, mook.

And you did a poor job on that thread playing LOOK!OVER!THERE!, I felt compelled to give you a taste of your own medicine.

    Photoshop in Westchester, VA, Dennis.

  6. Dennis, already with three comments defending his imaginary girlfriend. More to come, no doubt.

  7. SaveFarris says:

Obama: We Gotta stand with our Corpse-men.
Obama: We Gotta stand with our Corpse-men again!

  8. SaveFarris: LOOK!OVER!THERE! is Dennis’s schtick, please keep to your primary function of linking to articles that disprove whatever point you’re trying to make.

  9. Dennis says:

Dennis, already with three comments defending his imaginary girlfriend. More to come, no doubt.

Oliver, you’re not only well into the depths of Palin Derangement Syndrome to the point of no return, you’re also a blatant hypocrite.

Seriously. Here’s you and Jay discussing Brian Kilmeade’s slip when he said ‘all terrrorists are Muslim’ and Jay bringing up Obama’s “my Muslim faith” gaffe.

    http://www.oliverwillis.com/2010/10/15/fox-news-brian-kilmeade-all-terrorists-are-muslim/#comment-263952

Jay: “Kind of like when Obama said, “My Muslim faith….” Of course, there are idiots who believe Obama didn’t slip up and that’s exactly what he meant to say. But those people are…..well…idiots.”

    Oliver: “
Except Obama made a verbal gaffe. Kilmeade is saying what he said, nevermind your attempt at “what he meant to say was” nonsense.”

    ***********

There’s no difference, none, nada, between what you call in Obama’s case a verbal gaffe and what Palin did here.

Sheer, blatant hypocrisy. Late stage PDS, Oliver.

I tried to warn you a long time ago but you didn’t listen.

  10. Bwahaha! Its almost like Palin has a history of idiotic comments or something.

  11. ‘You’re really this desperate? Did you consider Obama stupid when he made his 57 state misstatement?’

Did you? Of course you did; so why can’t it work both ways?

The key difference between the two statements is that everyone KNOWS Obama simply made a slip of the tongue, while it’s glaringly obvious that Palin is an unequivocal moron.

  12. Dennis says:

It’s clear to anyone not as far gone as you that she meant South Korea.

  13. And it was clear that Obama didn’t think there were 57 states, which fails to stop cons from referencing it every 5 mins.

    What’s good for the goose…

  14. SaveFarris says:

And it’s clear Obama’s dumber than a box of rocks because he failed to correctly pronounce “Corpsman” in seperate instances.

Let’s see video of Palin mixing up North/South Korea a second time. Then we’ll talk.

  15. Dennis says:

    What’s good for the goose…

An admission of hypocrisy. A bit weasel-ly, but at least a good first step.

    Eleven more to go.

I’d give you about as much chance as I give Lindsay Lohan, though, unfortunately.

  16. An admission of hypocrisy
I love how you see things that aren’t there. Where are the WMDs? You support mischaracterizations of Obama, but are very upset when Palin is repeatedly accurately quoted saying very dumb things. Got it.

  17. Buzz Killington says:

Did you? Of course you did; so why can’t it work both ways?

The key difference between the two statements is that everyone KNOWS Obama simply made a slip of the tongue, while it’s glaringly obvious that Palin is an unequivocal moron.

No, I did not, and you have quite the temerity to make such a foolish claim. In both cases, regardless of your opinions of the person or any previous statements the person has made, it was a simple misstatement. If you believe otherwise, you need to take a step back from politics because it’s warping your view of reality.

  18. Marco21 says:

Clearly her error is a sign of genius. Oh, and libs are afraid of her or something.

    Happy Thanksgiving all.

  19. Sean D. Martin says:

Buzz Killington: You’re really this desperate? Did you consider Obama stupid when he made his 57 state misstatement?

Exactly my first thought, including the counter example. She mispoke and mixed North/South. Even highly intelligent, thoughtful people have done that. Clearly.

Pick on her because she avoids answering the “How would you handle the situation” question actually asked, instead going for the “there’s no faith in Obama” campaign talking point.

Point out that she’s just a typical conservative “leader” with nothing to say but “Look!Over! There! because I really have no actual solution to offer.” Picking on irrelevant slips of the tongue really plays into the accusations that you have nothing substantive to object to about her. It’s playing at the wingnuts level.

  21. Willie Stark says:

    Bravo, Sean.

  22. barkway says:

This is not a mere slip of the tongue, nor something akin to a typo; it’s a fundamental ignorance of the fundamental difference between the two….and a classic mistake by this woman. I would dare even say she is proud of her ignorance and sees it as a strength to her followers who are quick to defend every stupid thing she says or does as demonstrating that she is “one of us…a real everyday person!” Pardon me if I don’t want just your average idiot running my country. I want the best and brightest we’ve got at the helm just as I would if I was looking for an accountant, a surgeon, a lawyer or any other professional position.

  23. timmy says:

But now we know why she said she won’t be speaking to members of the “lamestream media”.

    They don’t edit out gaffes.

  24. Who had 12 Minutes in the “How Long Would It Take For A Conservative To Mention Obama’s ’57 States’ Comment?” pool? Because we have a winner.

    Because we have a winner.

  28. burningbush says:

As much as I would like to give SP a pass on this as a simple gaffe, the fact is she makes at LEAST 1 assbackwards or geographically ignorant (more likely) comment daily. This is easy to prove scientifically. Just follow her on twitter.

  29. Ol Froth says:

And Dennis wins the “I know you are but what am I” award!

  30. Bob Stanley says:

Perhaps she can ask the president of France (or a Canadian morning radio dj) to explain it to her next time he calls.

  31. bayvill says:

    Funny.
Oliver ripping on Palin’s intellect, yet he coughs up a pair remedial “Palinesque” questions when he gets some face-to-face time with President O.

  32. Potfish says:

This is a little pathetic, honestly.

Palin clearly stated that North Korea was a threat to national security, so it was obvious she did not sincerely believe North Korea was our ally. How about focus on what people are trying to say instead of nitpicking on a minor gaffe.

  33. [...] or interest in foreign policy. Her appearance on Fox News host Glenn Beck’s radio show today, captured by Oliver Willis, suggests they may be right: CO-HOST: How would you handle a situation like the one [...]

  34. Sean D. Martin says:

barkway: This is not a mere slip of the tongue, nor something akin to a typo; it’s a fundamental ignorance of the fundamental difference between the two

No, it’s not. She corrects herself seconds later and says “South Korean Allies”.

Now she may very well have a fundamental ignorance about the differences between the two Koreas. And I’d believe that she does based on her repeated, substantive demonstrations of fundamental ignorance on most topics. Not based on her making the kind of mistake we’ve all made many times.

    Dennis: An admission of hypocrisy
Oliver: I love how you see things that aren’t there.

Please, please, please don’t make me agree with Dennis again.

  35. Dennis says:

And Dennis wins the “I know you are but what am I” award!– Ol Froth

No, Frothy, the onely thing more mundane than the kind of post Dave Con Ebers posted on a Palin Derangement thread would be someone saying they could see Russia from their house. No matter how pathetic it is after two full years, you still expect it from the nitwits.

  36. Dennis says:

Please, please, please don’t make me agree with Dennis again.

Sean, please stop play-acting being reasonable, it doesn’t wear well on you.

It’s kinda creeping me out, actually. We can see right through you.

Transparency on a liberal is a bitch.

  37. [...] “We gotta stand with our North Korean allies.” – S. Palin [...]

  38. Sean D. Martin says:

Dennis: Sean, please stop play-acting being reasonable

Dennis will object when you provide facts to show he’s full of it. And he’ll object when you agree with him, too.

If you’re on the left, you’re wrong.

    Wingnuttery in a nutshell.

  39. Dennis says:

Sean, are you agreeing with me then that Oliver is being a blatant hypocrite?

Because this ‘let’s not be like them’ crap is just mamby-pamby, damning with faint praise liberalese that not even Jaim or fafaroo will play your game and bicker with you on these kinds of turns by you anymore. I don’t care if you agree or disagree with me either way, but you’re about the most plastic person I’ve ever encountered on a blog thread, and I’ve been on million of them.

  40. Dennis, I just think it’s funny that as I read Oliver’s post, I knew that one of the first comments would refer to the “57 states” thing. And lo and behold, it was the very first comment. I suspect you’re just mad because someone beat you to it.

Nonetheless, for my money any gaffe by any politician is fair game. Which is not to say all gaffes are equal, because some are clearly more boneheaded than others. But if you’re a public figure two things are certain: Eventually you will slip up, and every time you do your political opponents will jump on it. Such is life.

  41. Dennis says:

Fair enough, Dave. Oliver didn’t say she slipped up, he said she erred on foreign policy.

And if you can believe it, he took it leaps and bounds further than even the Trig Truther himself, Andrew Sullivan, who posted it and merely said “Sigh“.

When you freak out more than Andrew Sullivan on something regarding Sarah Palin, it’s a pretty sure sign you need some counseling. You see, Excitable Andy at least had the management at The Atlantic to force him to take a break from his obsession that is Palin’s uterus; Oliver doesn’t have that here. Sean dances around it but lacks the testicular fortitude to actually tell him he’s got a serious problem. No one else will.

  42. GuyAverage says:

This reminds me of when President Obama talked about “my My Muslim Faith” and George Stephanopoulos corrected him to the phrase “Christian faith”. Didn’t hear about that anywhere? That’s because if a Leftist misspeaks, it is understood as such, but if a conservative misspeaks then the Alinskyites on The Left crawl from the woodwork and attempt to hold conservatives to the standard of perfection that they themselves know is unreachable. url for the Obama comment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKGdkqfBICw

  46. Jaim says:

This has been making the rounds of the Korean blogosphere for what it’s worth. South Koreans themselves don’t generally get too worked up over American politics. But they do want a US president who knows basic facts about the peninsula’s history and who will assure the ROK that they will defend them to the hilt in case of a North Korean attack (a big one, that is).

So this won’t do her any favors in South Korea (or Japan). The Chinese, however, might fall in love with her.

And to think, the GOP was callous enough to ever think this woman could be second in command of our nuclear arsenal.

Dumb. Ignorant. Unelectable. Best of all, is she wins the nomination Obama winds in the greatest electoral landslide in American history in 2012.

    /fingers crossed

  47. Shorter Dennis: For the love of God, quit making fun of my pretend girlfriend!

  48. ‘No, I did not, and you have quite the temerity to make such a foolish claim.’

Righhhttt; unlike you who calls OW ‘desperate’ for pointing out yet another example of Palin’s penchant for verbal gaffes.

‘If you believe otherwise, you need to take a step back from politics because it’s warping your view of reality.’

My view of reality is just fine thanks; unlike your habit of defending this vacuous social climber, I KNOW Palin isn’t even remotely qualified to run for president.

  49. ‘It’s clear to anyone not as far gone as you that she meant South Korea.’

Really? It didn’t at all seem clear to Beck.

  50. Marco21 says:

  56. fafaroo says:

So what is it guys, Sarah should be president, yes or no?

  57. Barry says:

LOL, nice find Dennis. Left out were the corpse-man and Obama’s enemies. But alas, those were not gaffes

  58. Sean D. Martin says:

Palin: That lie is further clear proof that the media completely makes things up without doing even rudimentary fact-checking.

    Except Fox News, of course.

  59. Enlightened Liberal says:

She takes up her Thanksgiving writing a screed against the President, VP, and the SCLM. What a great Merkin.

  60. E L , you and your ilk and your colleagues in the media and academia took up 5 months in 2008 writing screeds against Gov Palin. Does that make you a merkin or a codpiece?

  61. 1/2 Gov., full moron Palin is the one attempting to portray herself as a credible political entity, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Those who merely point out that she’s completely full of shit would have no issue with her slinking back to the deserved obscurity from whence she was spawned.

  63. RonaldEmmis says:

Oh, so Sarah Palin is stupid, eh?

How’s this from the Prince of Genius, Mr. TelePrompTer himself?

“Everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma, they end up taking up a hospital bed, it costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early and they got some treatment, and a, a breathalyzer, or inhalator, not a breathalyzer. I haven’t had much sleep in the last 48 hours, so.

What they’ll say is, “Well, it costs too much money,” but you know what? It would cost, about…It…it…it would cost about the same as what we would spend… It… over the course of 10 years it would cost what it would costs us…(nervous laugh)…All right. Okay. We’re going to…It…It would cost us about the same as it would cost for about…hold on one second. I can’t hear myself. But I’m glad you’re fired up, though. I’m glad (laughs again).”
