Report: Mexican Drug War Being Armed By American Guns

Guns

From Mayors Against Illegal Guns:

The report shows that of the guns recovered from Mexican crime scenes and submitted for tracing by ATF between 2006 and 2009, four in ten of those guns were originally sold in Texas. The three other border states – Arizona, California, and New Mexico – were the source for another third of those guns.

When controlling for state population, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas each have export rates 169 percent greater than any other state and at a rate three times as high as the fourth border state, California. Relatively lax gun laws in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas may contribute to that disparity.

The report also notes that the time between the original sale of guns at U.S. gun dealers and the recovery of those guns at Mexican crime scenes is decreasing – a sign of ever more sophisticated gun trafficking.”

Wonder if the Gov. of Arizona is going to run with this story, as opposed to her false “headless bodies” tale?

    HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!!! This is awesome.

First, you get lax gun laws, because, you know, something something freedom from tyrrany.

Then, a bunch of shady characters — legal citizens, i would imagine — buy guns.

Then they smuggle them to Mexico.

    Then Mexican cartels murder people.

Then you use the border violence as a justification for passing draconian immigration laws.

THIS IS AMAZING!!!! Way to go Texas, NM, and Arizona!!! The one-two-punch of ‘everyone gets guns!’ and ‘we’re not fond of Mexicans!’, all tied up in one incredible package!!!

“But there is a growing glitch in Bloomberg’s plan. More and more mayors are discovering the real purpose of MAIG, and are removing their names from the group’s list. After hearing from their constituents, over 40 mayors have resigned from the group since it’s inception.”

America’s insatiable desire for drugs has well and truly fucked over Mexico. Permanently, I’m afraid.

  6. Enlightened Liberal says:

Wow Scott, those articles from a group against gun control assailing people in favor of gun control really convinced me! Thanks!

Hey EL, I expected someone to say that about 19 hours ago. And it’s not scott, it’s scoot, scoot oval.

I don’t think anyone needs a “group” anyway, just common sense. I am not a memeber of the NRA, but I do own firearms, legally. No, they don’t compensate for any “shortcomings.” And I don’t carry one, never have, but I have been a CCW license holder for over two years with reciprocity in 30+ states besides my own.

This Mexican Drug War story is about a year and a half old. It ain’t news now, it weren’t then. You can read the FACTS at any of these sites and more, the problem is that you probably don’t want to believe them. Your brand of media will NEVER tell you the truth. George, Michael, & Barry want to disarm law-abiding citizens so they skew the facts to spook their followers, like you. BOO!

Fully automatic weapons are very expensive to purchase and not easy to obtain “off-the-shelf” in this country, especially in mass quantities. Some of their weaponry can’t even be purchased by John Q., so where are they getting their arms? Not from some Mom N Pop in a border state. Bad guys will get what they want no matter what this country’s government does.

You know what other action this administration has taken in the realm of firearms policy?

They made it legal to carry firearms into National Parks. Kind of blows a hole in your theory, eh?

  9. scoot oval says:

    No.

Do you think this appeasement makes them pro-gun? Barry and his cronies are all anti-gun and the sh!t will hit the fan sooner or later.

I’m sure the average street thug wants a 60-year-old
8-round semi-auto military rifle. Thanks for protecting me, Barry.

  10. Enlightened Liberal says:

Wow, Foxnews, Firearms truth, how could those be biased?

And obviously Obama’s PRO-gun actions are just a smoke screen to take all the guns and give them to his FOI cronies. In Kenya.

  11. Jaim says:

Gun rights have expanded under Obama, dipshit.

  12. Phil says:

Jaim, we’ve had this discussion before. Yes, they have expanded. Marginally and only because the Republicans have fought the White House tooth and nail and the SCOTUS rediscovered the 2nd Amendment. Obama and the Dems have done nothing to expand the right of law abiding citizens in the realm of firearms ownership. Zip, Zilch, Nada. And they deserve to be given the boot for that reason alone.

Now to the article: I see that no one noticed that they are only tracing “some” of the firearms.

“The report shows that of the guns recovered from Mexican crime scenes and submitted for tracing by ATF between 2006 and 2009″

When the Mexican government finds cases of AK-47, do they trace those? When they find truckloads of H&K G3 rifles, do they trace those?

Of course they don’t. They know the AK’s come from south of their border and the G3′s come from their own military’s arsenals. They also don’t test the grenade launchers and other squad use weaponry.

If any of you were to look deeper into this than just the occasional article, you would know that the AK’s and G3′s count for over 60% of the firearms seized. That is not counting the stolen M-16′s and other military grade weaponry the cartels and gangs buy from Central and South America.

Why would any cartel member want a bolt action rifle or a pump shotgun when he could buy an AK cheaper?

Secondly, you want to stop the flow of guns south. I want to stop the flow of drugs and people north.

Building a physical barrier would solve both our problems. But you call me a racist and demand the project be shut down. That is how little you care about the people on both sides of the border who are suffering.

The barriers work. The one on the south end of Cali works so well, mules (the people who bring drugs in) and coyotes (the people who bring people in) have taken to stealing boats and going over water into the US.

Sorry, but no liberal or progressive can hold a candle in this argument. They’ve all been on the wrong side of it for decades.
