New Republic Editor In Chief Marty Peretz: Muslims Unworthy Of 1st Amendment

stupid

Peretz:

But, frankly, Muslim life is cheap, most notably to Muslims. And among those Muslims led by the Imam Rauf there is hardly one who has raised a fuss about the routine and random bloodshed that defines their brotherhood. So, yes, I wonder whether I need honor these people and pretend that they are worthy of the privileges of the First Amendment which I have in my gut the sense that they will abuse.

With repeated anti-Muslim hate speech from Peretz and the magazine’s support of the Iraq War, despite the occasional good work from some writers there, can we please quit pretending TNR is on the left. In this department, it could be argued that they’re even worse than National Review or The Weekly Standard. (via)

TNR was radically pro-Israel 30 years ago. You’re only noticing now?

Also, I’m sure Peretz disputes that there are 1.2 billion Muslims out there because each Muslim should count as only 3/5ths of a person.
