McNabb’s Ankle

I don’t know if this is my wishing something to be, but I get the feeling that this story about McNabb’s ankle is Shanahan playing games.

It could be a smoke screen or just a cautious assessment of his quarterback’s health, but Mike Shanahan says he’s not certain that Donovan McNabb will be available for the Washington Redskins’ season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

‘I really don’t know for sure,’ Shanahan said Sunday. ‘That’s why it’s day by day. We’ll see how it goes.’

It can be deceptive watching it on tv, but McNabb’s injury just didn’t seem like that big of a deal.

Did I mention? I HATE PRESEASON.

He’s Belichicking. I’d put money on it.

How many times has Rush’s favorite QB been to the pro-bowl? Six?

Playing him for any more than the opening drive in any pre-season makes no strategic or (due to possible injury) economic sense.

Put the scrubs out there. And honestly, shorten pre-season play to one game, maybe two. It’s just begging for accidents to veterans.

Probably is a psych-out kind of thing. At least the Skins have a decent QB. My Cardinals got stuck with Leinart after Warner bailed. USC Heismann Trophy winner, and he still sucks.

And you need more Haynesworth bashing diaries, dammit.

I give McNabb until week 4 or 5 and he’ll be hurt for real. He’s fairly fragile. I’ve seen other injuries of his that didn’t look too bad in real time but ended up costing him some weeks of play. It’ll be my main man, Rex taking Washington to the playoffs.
