Petraeus

Some good news, at least. More video at the link.

The commander of Nato forces in Afghanistan says the momentum built up by the Taliban has been reversed in the south of the country and capital Kabul.

General David Petraeus said it was important to destroy the safe havens of Taliban.

I’m wondering how soon the righties will take to turn against Petraeus, and the war in Afghanistan. I mean, they couldn’t possibly support a war being fought by a Democratic president and the general he chose to do so, could they?

I think most Americans are a bit war-weary by now and I think now is as good a time as any to start bringing all of our troops home. Not only from Iraq and Afghanistan, but from Japan, Korea, Germany, etc. as well.

  3. Why should we believe him one way or the other? When did his vow of honesty begin? I’d posit it’s safe to say we made gains against the Taliban lately, if you consider that a bunch of them likely died in the floods. Other than that, I highly doubt any good news from that region. This is just as likely positive puff put out ahead of the upcoming Wiki releases.
    Enjoy.

Would you rather America remain stuck in Afghanistan for years and years SF?

or are you going to be a dumb asshole like John McCain and give credit to Obama’s predecessor when America does withdraw from Afghanistan.

I’m afraid this may have more to do with the recent flooding in Pakistan than any major change in American military operations. When nearly 1/5 of the Taliban’s sanctuary country is flooded, and the army you depend upon to protect you is distracted by handling emergency evacuations, it is harder to run an insurgency.
