Health Care Repeal Is The New Abortion Ban For The Right
Tweet
The right will do everything rhetorically to dangle the prospect of repealing health care reform in front of the rubes that comprise the GOP’s base. But like with abortion, at best they may gently press against some things on the outer edges but they will never go for a full repeal. Why? Because the provisions are needed and popular, and the GOP always needs something to get the rubes worked up about every two years.

I hate politics, but I’d like to run for something on the Dem ticket because the Republicans make it look so attractive!
Michael Steele, “just say no” neoCons in congress, and now repeal of health care? Could the pickings get any easier?
Of course I’m in NYC…

My biggest concern is that there is a way to significantly curtail HIR, strike “a blow for freedom” that will make the Teatards cream their pants, and make a shit-ton of money for the insurance industry.
Step 1: Keep the ban preexisting conditions exclusions (which is popular) in place.
Step 2: Nix the individual mandate (which is unpopular).
Step 3: Eliminate most restrictions on how much the insurance companies can charge for new policies and “let the market” take care of the rest.
Rich folks will be able to go without insurance until they get sick and then buy the expensive policies. Poor people will simply die. Win-win for everybody.
Well, they’d just need to gain 2/3 majorities in both Houses, to override the Obama veto. Or, if Obama lost in 2012, they’d still need to garner a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. Which, factoring in Ben Nelson and Joe Lieberman, probably requires them having 55-58 seats there.
So, basically, no chance whatsoever.
Do you think the rubes are finally catching on to the abortion scam? Republican’ts are never going to repeal abortion or Obamacare.
Though I agree that the Republicans are keen to use repeal in the same manner, repeal doesn’t drive the same level of passion amongst their membership because there is something to be gained for some of their supporters. I believe that’s why not all their elected representatives are signing on to the repeal.
