Enthusiasm gap!

A new 527 group conceived by veteran GOP hands Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie and launched this year with predictions that it would raise $52 million to support Republican candidates has thus far failed to live up to the fundraising hype.

The group, American Crossroads, raised only $200 last month, according to a report it filed Monday with the Internal Revenue Service, bringing its total raised since launching in March to a little more than $1.25 million. It spent $76,000 in May, primarily on legal fees and salaries, bringing its total spending to $140,000.

As cool as cherry-picking anecdotal tidbits is, not sure it fits the situation on the ground:

Per Gallup: Republicans’ Midterm Voting Enthusiasm Tops Prior Years

An average of 59% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents have said they are more enthusiastic than usual about voting this year compared with past elections, the highest average Gallup has found in a midterm election year for either party since the question was first asked in 1994.

    Highest since 1994…..hmmmm.

Probably just an outlier, though. I’m sure Karl Rove’s 527 is the much better leading indicator.

Be fair, Oliver: The $200 is just one month’s take.

Their total to date, as you reported, is $1.25 million.

That puts them within $50,750,000 of their goal!

Now that is what you call a real slam-dunk!! :) :)

Speaking of goals, how’s that budget coming along democrats?

The House has never failed to pass an annual budget resolution since the current budget rules were put into place in 1974.

Nobody is more associated with Bush than is Karl Rove. That being said:

    Reagan, dealing with stagflation:

Why’d you cut off your Obama graph in March of 2009?

Oh. I guess that’d be why.

Be patient, willie. I’m sure there’ll be something in there you’ll be able to claim is a “tax hike.” What’s your hurry?

  12. liberalrob says:

Needs more deficit spending to stimulate the economy and create jobs. Also needs higher taxes on those most able to pay them. Could stand to spend a bit less on futile foreign adventures in nation-building. And should add single-payer health care to keep costs under control. Other than that, I’d say it’s coming along all right.

No comment about Reagan? Remember him? The “greatest modern president” ever?

No comment about Bush’s mastermind’s pathetic ability to raise cash?

My hurry? Why the delay? Ask Steny Hoyer. He knows. It’s the debt bomb baby. Orszag knew the answer too and is getting the hell out of dodge before the sh!t hits the fan.

    Fail, Loser.

  18. timmy says:

Back to the subject at hand (before Dennis and SaveFerris tried yet again to sidetrack the thread with Chewbacca arguments), I say Rove is perceived by conservative donors as a loser because he was most closely associated with one.

  19. SaveFarris says:

When did Rove start associating with Bob Shrum?

Rove’s got the bonifides. He did put together victories over a popular VP and an unpopular war. But he also spent a lot of time campaigning for relative RINOs like Graham and McCain and ACTUAL RINOs like Specter and Chaffee.

And that’s why donors are hesitant about Rove, because Rove would rather advocate for Republican majorities over Conservative majorities. There’s a difference, and the donors know it.
