The ad in question
Congressional candidate Vaughn Ward has violated a Pentagon directive prohibiting the impression that his campaign is supported by the military, according to the Marine Corps.
Ward is a Marine major assigned to 28 days of annual reserve duty at the Office of Legislative Affairs in Washington, D.C. Ward won a Bronze Star with Combat V for valor for leading a Marine company in Iraq from April to October 2006.
Ward and state Rep. Raul Labrador are the top candidates in the May 25 Republican primary. The winner will challenge Democratic Rep. Walt Minnick in November.

Why isn’t there any prison time attached?
That’s right, only John Kerry, Max Cleland, and Paul Hackett are allowed to use the military as props!
…says Commander Codpiece.
SaveFerris, I guess Oliver is “swiftboating” Vaughn for not earning any medals he received in Iraq, that’s the ticket, yah!
You’re beginning to sound like a ‘soft on National Defense” DFH Democrat, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
There are specific prohibitions to ACTIVE MILITARY MEMBERS participating in or advancing ANY political agenda (and this dumbass should know that).
Kerry, Cleland, etc., are civilians, so the same rules don’t apply.
And show me a politician that doesn’t leverage their military background to their advantage, and I’ll show you an out of work polictician……
polictician?? sorry…politician
Guy kind of looks like Sargeant Slaughter.
I imagine that Marines like their government health care. I liked mine when I was in the Navy.
And chicken hawks like savefarris should shut the fuck up on military matters.
That’s right, only John Kerry, Max Cleland, and Paul Hackett are allowed to use the military as props!
Since you are now claiming that Kerry et al campaigned IN UNIFORM decades after their ETS dates, I am calling you a liar unless you show me a photograph of one of these people campaigning in his old uniform.
Fuck it. You already know it didn’t happen. Farris, you are a liar. I challenge you to produce a single photograph of one of these men campaigning for office in uniform, or even wearing one after leaving the service.
OT but as a former Army medic, I agree. If every American received the health care I and my colleagues delivered, our country would thrive.
Chickenhawks like Farris don’t know that, so they believe that crusty ol’ military vet, Rush Limbaugh, when he tells them that the government can’t deliver health care. I’d like Rush to tell me that to my 64-year old face. I move pianos for a living, about the most honest work anyone could do, and Rush is a coward and a pussy who sells lies.
But I digress. Ward is an asshole who should spend time in the brig.
