With numbers like that, Bush’ll NEVER get reelected!
Of all the responses you could have posted, that’s the dumbest. Guess what, Bill Clinton isn’t up for re-election either. But it’s worth noting to keep the historical record accurate.
And in 2010/2012, it’ll be Bush’s track record vs. Obama’s track record (9% unemployment, $9.3 trillion in NEW debt), not Bush V. Clinton.
And in 2010/2012, it’ll be Bush’s track record vs. Obama’s track record
As long as Obama doesn’t start any wars based on easily exposed lies, he will remain far in the lead.
And of course the high unemployment was inherited from the eight years of Bush incompetence. Remember how Clinton was “responsible for 9/11″ eight months after leaving office? It’s only fair that Bush gets the blame for what happened DURING his term.
Any teabagger will tell you, nothing was wrong before January of 2009.
NOTHING!
But it’s worth noting to keep the historical record accurate.
Except it isn’t accurate. It starts off saying, “President Clinton took office at a time of large deficits and high unemployment. The country was headed in the wrong direction after more than a decade of supply-side economics.”
The deficit was already declining at the time Clinton took office. The unemployment rate was already in decline. GDP growth averaged over 4% in 1992. The economy was already rebounding.
Want accuracy? Stay away from the Center for American Progress.
It was getting better, but it wouldn’t have rebounded if Clinton’s budget hadn’t passed (as usual, without GOP help).
GDP growth averaged over 4% in 1992.
In Oliver’s world, Clinton was already President in 1992. Cause he’s reality-based!
I will gladly take Obama’s track record over Bush’s. And it’s not even particularly close.
All a result of the Democratic majority Congress!
george bush, who’s that? the teabaggers have already forgotten him.
