I cannot for the life of me see how these weak-sauce democrats will inspire people to vote for them this fall. republicans won’t. democrats might, but won’t make an effort to. independents won’t vote for anyone who looks like a weakling.

I just noted my disdain for Rep. Lipinski in Illinois. can’t wait to hear back from his office. Surely any day now.
I’m so glad to see NOT ONE California Dem voted against the bills. Way to go, California – once again a leading the way.
Now, let’s see a list of their primary challengers — and any who don’t have a primary challenger yet.
And third-party challengers, for that matter.
If any of their seats go Republican, that will only be a label correction.
I’m inclined not to want reprisals, though many of them are in purple districts and will lose regardless of what I have to say about it. But in general, I’d save the retribution for when one of them (or someone else) really costs us something. Instead of punishing them for a vote we didn’t need anyway.

I looked up this list of smart dems because I wanted to see who had a chance in Nov–the rest of the yes guys are toast.
Chet Edwards represents my district which, thanks to Tom DeLay, was drawn to favor Republicans. Somehow he managed to survive that two years ago. Waco has been keeping him in so far but I’m not sure he will be able to hold on to it this year. Go figure.
His “no” vote was obviously an effort to try to hang on to his seat but I don’t think it will do him any good.

Thank you for this list. You’re doing a public service so that we’ll know who to vote out during their next election. This health care vote was no small vote, it was very telling of their true priorities and with Democrats like them, who needs the GOP?

Kratovil in MD had managed to back into his seat after the GOP’s Gilchrest lost a primary challenge from the right. That mostly Eastern Shore district will almost certainly go “red” this year.

I live In Kissell’s district – and next to McIntyre’s – and he basically said it was going to “cost too much”. To be fair, we’re in Ft. Bragg over here, so we’re a pretty red district. Kissell won mainly on the strength of anti-Iraq war (soldiers and spouses wanting to come home) and it was a squeaker. Not that I wouldn’t mind seeing him getting primaried, but I don’t think it will happen. I just wish he’d see that he’s doomed no matter what and just vote for the damn bill.
Thank God for people who have the courage to vote their consciences. I applaud each of these representatives and will do whatever I can to ensure they are reelected. Although I firmly believe that healthcare reform is necessary, this bill is one of the most tainted pieces of slop that ever passed. This country cannot afford any more entitlements — we are going bankrupt. To those of you who don’t know what that means: WE ARE PRINTING MONEY THAT WE DO NOT HAVE; THE CHINESE ARE SUBSIDIZING OUR DEBT AND WILL SOON OWN US. If you have any love of country, educate yourself on what is really happening, do NOT rely upon the words of Democrats who will say ANYTHING (yes, they lie a lot) they want. I am sickened by the lack of knowledge on the parts of people who want this healthcare bill passed. Those of us who have insurance through employers will be losing it in four years. Wake up America and learn to read…How many of you who want it have insurance and work right now. I’m sure those who don’t work would love another government freebie to go along with amnesty for illegals.

My understanding was that the strategy was discussed that since those Democrats were in highly conservative districts it was agreed that they could vote “no” and would vote “yes” if they saw that their vote was needed. That was why those who voted “no” waited until the end of the vote just incase they needed to vote “yes” to pass it.

I note that those who joined the Republican party when it plunged headlong into its “Southern Strategy”, only like spending money when killing is involved or when minorities are being shut out the system. Interesting, that!
If you agree that Health Reform DOES reflect the will of most Americans and IS in our country’s best long-term interests, be sure to vote AGAINST any Representative who voted against the Bill: (1) Call on those dissenters to disclose how much funding they have received over the last 12 months from pharma companies, insurance companies, and those groups’ respective lobbyists and fronts. And (2) use emails, word of mouth, AND YOUR VOTE to steer those politicos out of office.

We can’t afford housing (I’ve been foreclosed), we can’t afford food, there are no jobs to be had…and how will THIS help? It will boost taxes (If you have no insurance, it’s a $700 fine), or you have to pay the premiums (Which are likely to be 2000 a month).
HOW DOES THIS HELP? It DOESN’T.

Democrats complaining about deficits is like Chad Ochocinco calling someone else a showboat.
If California is leading the way I don’t want to follow. They are on the brink of collapse for just this type of short sighted votes. Voting for this bill was the weak move. When you have to blackmail and buy votes from your own party how can it be a good vote. I could support reform when someone can so the root cause of the issue and then the fix and how it will fix the problem. I thought the big issue was cost. Now we are just looking at the insurance not how we make the care better for lower cost. Why can’t we stop the emotional responses and deal with fact and data?

Quick note… Parker Griffith became a Republican back in December. Not saying that doesn’t qualify him for being defeated but he’s not a Democrat anymore.
i certainly wouldnt blame the president or the congress for ruining the country all by themselves. i think that title goes to thhe economic m0del we choose to undertake here. subsidies for agriculture, petroleum, the rich (why no flat tax?), trade, our debt. we the people have decided the best way to do business is to buy the lowest bid and live without regard for the planet. the broken body of our government is at least on the operating table under this administration. no democrats are under the illusion that this bill is perfect. healing is always uncomfortable. hopefully the blood is still circulating. my suggestion to those so opposed and worried, go live in costa rica with rush. life is always sunny there. i will stay here and keep looking for a job.

Thank you for publishing this list. I have one question for all the nay- sayers Where were the complaints when Bush passed the tax cuts for the wealthiest in this country? Taking the country from a surplus to a 1.5 trillion dollar deficit.
All these comments and debates are interesting but academic. The future is set. We the people will push socialism back to obscurity. This government expansion program will be shoved back down DC’s throat and the federal government will be restricted to their areas of responsibility as defined in the U.S. Constitution.Once we have done that we will have a whole different crew in DC with one chance to do the business of the people, and then we can get busy and work on reducing the tax burden and our budgetary requirements. But the main point is we the people will prevail. There is no force on Earth that can stand against the will of the American people. All we need to do to bring this about is to perservere.
Liberals love a growing government. The IRS is now in charge of FORCING everyone to buy health insurance. Buy insurance or pay a 2.5% fine, don’t pay the fine, go to jail. The passing of this bill just proves that these liberals don’t give a fork about the will of the American people. Their destructive agenda is way more important. Obamacare is about increasing the size of government under the guise of caring about people. The only thing bipartisan about this bill was the “No” votes.
So go ahead and sling your liberal insults at the people who disagree with you (i.e. stupid, racist, redneck)because that is what liberals do best. Only 20% of the American people will label themselves as liberals and probably half of them don’t even know what it is to be a modern day liberal.

Good Morning, I am the executive for a large health insurance company,
I wanted personally to thank the Congress for helping finally pass this historic and great legislation, we opened our champaign bottles earlier today because this true win; the banks had got their stimulus and we needed help also, we needed more customers (about 30 million or so), with the way the economic conditions are today I am sure you understand, I mean what better way to have more customers & offer products and services than to have it be mandated to buy them with the threat of fine or imprisonment by the IRS if you dont; and hopefully it’d a private prison at that – that way those peasants can at least be productive and work for slave labour, I mean if someone is too poor to buy health insurance (even with their subisidies) they probably dont belong in society anyways, and when they do lose their jobs & their houses because of this at least we’ll be able to buy them up at pennies on the dollar, also I appreciated in addition as a nice little touch the fact that if some customers get too expensive we can drop them & pay the small fine instead as an option – we would really like that fine to be a bit lower however we can discuss that at a later date, for now we are very happy about what happened today, most likely a lot in Congress will be elected right out of office for this in November . . . though as promised they will be taken care of and get their lobbying job, also it was fitting how this passed appropriatley being called the “slaughter solution” (lol) – keep up the good work . . . again thankyou, we couldn’t do it . . without you and BTW keep voting for the wars!

I just hope there never comes a day that they deny you or cancel your insurance because they say your coverage has run out, and you’ve been paying into it far longer than you’ve actually had to use it, and I hope that you’re never canceled due to pre-existing conditions that you had no idea you even had and besides that you’ve paid into your coverage, but that dosent matter and you and your family are left holding the “medical bag” on your way to the bankruptcy court!!!! You idiot!!! Oh!!! I really thank these Democrates for standing against the reform bill, I do not teach my children that murdering children is acceptable for men and women. Both should be held accountable for murder, and those that are paid to do the slaughtering of the innocent are paid HIT-MEN. I do not want my Tax dollars paying for paid Murderers. Did these 33 dems really vote against the health care bill because they know its a bad bill or did Pelosi take the most vulnerable ones & tell them they could vote no to save their skins in November?? Just remember, we won’t see the tax increase until January, so when the elections come they wouldn’t have gone into effect yet!!! Just remember how they ignored all of us on this health care take over & when they lose, I want to hear them squeal like the pigs they are!!!

Where in the Constitution does the FEDERAL Government have to ability to MANDATE Healthcare and FINE those that do not adhere?
Can’t find it? Ok then. So they would first have to AMEND the Constitution in order to give the Federal Government that right. And they didn’t. Therefore, this is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Wow, it is good to hear from someone who is aware of what is really going on. Awhile back there was an African American on the radio who called himself the Black Avenger. He was a conservative who really was aware of government inadequacies. When the liberals voted in something way off base he would say BOHICA! (which means “bend over, here it comes again!”. Yes we do know what the oval office is for and what it is NOT for. It is for a person who is dedicated to upholding and protecting the constitution of the U.S. and upholding and protecting the Bill of Rights and the welfare of every citizen in this county. It is NOT, NOT, NOT for someone advocating the implosion of our republic and setting up a socialist/communist state where the American people are slaves and burdened down by somebody who thinks they know what is best for US more than WE do and we are just too stupid to realize it, and thd aforementioned person does everything in their power to make this disaster happen. When calling your congress person to thank them for the health care reform, please ask them when they will be partaking of this bountiful blessing. If they are of a mind to be (gasp) truthful with you, they will tell you it won’t be ANY TIME SOON because it is a detriment to their HEALTH and WELFARE but it is good enough for the uninformed and unworthy such as YOU!
