People always concentrate on which side LOST Waterloo….

  2. kth says:

Well, according to the Repubs, it would be the Waterloo of the Obama presidency if they stopped the bill. But it’s also going to be a big disaster for the Dems since they were able to pass it. So I guess according to the GOP, the best thing would have been for the Dems not to have brought it up at all. No thanks, I’ll take a rain check on such “friendly” advice.

Apparently, this was the old SNL “What If” sketch, “What if Napoleon had a B-52 at Waterloo?”

I keep thinking something else from the words “water” and “loo”

As in can we flush the Republicans and be done with it already?

  5. I love me some ABBA, but they sucked at the lip-synching here.

The press have decided on their narrative, that Obama is weak and faltering, much as they decided that Bush was strong and resolute. The thing is, when Bush thought he had some political capital in 2005, he went with privatization of Social Security and massively failed. He was still polling over 40% just after the election, but the Social Security plan was polling at about 25% no matter how the question was asked. The health bill has polled that badly when the questions were asked a certain way, but it also polled better than that when the questions were asked a different way.

It won’t shut the Republicans up. Nothing ever will. I don’t think they have that strong a campaign issue in the fall. If we didn’t see a massive sweep of incumbents drummed out after the 2008 bailout, I’m not sure the U.S. will ever have a radical change.

and yes that song, from newly-inducted (and deservedly so) Rock n Roll Hall of Famers ABBA, should absolutely be the victory theme of this historic occasion.

Closeted homosexual David Drier just quoted out and proud asshole Dennis Prager on the house floor.

    Waterloo, indeed.

  8. Tia says:

The Republicans should have tired to bring something to the table…instead of the word no…all the damn time. Now, it appears this thing “Might” actually pass today. Next up will be the Senate Vote this week…and then Obama signs the sucker…But still things could go wrong along the way…so, nothing is a sure bet until Obama signs this bill into law.

  9. Bruce says:

I think that we should make the ABBA lipstink video the official mascot of the losing Republicans not only on #HCR but on all matters. Except when team wingnut finally loses on gay marriage, I want it to be something from New Order or the Pet Shop Boys or maybe the Indigo Girls.

    Waterloo?

More like Agincourt, motherfuckers. I have to say, as pissed off as I am that this bill is not more and better, you really cannot underestimate the warmth that fills my cold, black heart at the thought of how demoralized and depressed Republican staffers will be on Monday.

  11. Bruce from Missouri says:

I wonder if the reason ABBA doesn’t reunite is because they are still embarrassed by the clothes they wore back then. That practically defines 1970′s ugly.

Yeah, it’s Obama’s Waterloo. Obama, seems to have been cast as Wellington.

    That guitar! OMFG!
(Oh yeah, and the GOP is toast. Good luck getting people mad about not getting dropped from their health insurance.)
