Secret Service Investigating Conservative Blogger For Twitter Threat Vs. The President

Who we thought they were.

As Congress entered the final round of debate Sunday over the controversial health insurance reform bill, a self-described conservative blogger used his public Twitter account to urge the assassination of President Barack Obama. U.S. Secret Service spokesperson Max Milien confirms to DailyFinance: “We are aware of the actual posting and are actively investigating.” A request for comment from a Twitter spokesperson hasn’t been returned.

As the blog Jezebel has reported, Soloman (Solly) Forell, apparently enraged by the impending passage of the health insurance reform bill, used his Twitter account to call for the assassination of Barack Obama, while also tweeting that since the country survived the assassinations of Lincoln and Kennedy, ‘we’ll surely get over’ this one, too.

Time for cons to say he’s really a liberal

  2. Indeed says:

How about checking out all the “We came unarmed–this time” and “If Brown can’t do it, Browning can” and similar signs. Could they be any more clear? They don’t want to live by the rules of Our Democracy. If things don’t go their way, they’re talkin’ ’bout a Revolution instead of working through our government. You know, like the Democrats did (and produced this shitty, though passable, bill).

If the bill’s really that crappy and people hate it, surely they’ll get the votes to repeal it! Go for it, Wingnutz.

  3. Leota2 says:

    Wow–just . . . . Wow. What is wrong with these people?

  4. Mike Waters says:

This kind of talk does NOT reflect the views of those of us involved in the Tea Party movement. We love Liberty and will fight Tyranny, but will remain true to the values and examples of this Country’s Founders. The “Progressive” agenda is destroying our Republic and must be thwarted…but violence is not the answer.

  5. I reported it to Twitter and it was still up 3 hours after(this morning) the idiot posted it. So Twitter isn’t too fast on the uptake. The Secret Service really needs to start prosecuting these jerks.

  6. So where were you during the eight years of Bush Jr.? Or you don’t care about the growing surveillance state as long as it happens under a Republican?

  7. Quaker in a Basement says:

No problem. Rush and Glenn have your back, right?

  8. Indeed says:

You should really get out to more rallies and try to confiscate a lot of those signs. Or maybe you already do? You also may wish to tell Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Michele Bachman, Steve King, and a few others to shut the fuck up. If you don’t already, I mean. Seems like it’s more than a few bad apples. Many of the leading figures repeatedly use some very unfortunate language.

    Stay classy.

  9. mambochicken23 says:

Mr. Waters has it totally right! I, as a liberal progressive socialistic freedom-hater, love love love love tyranny! I adore Chairman Obama, my dear Leader, who rules over me with an iron fist and allows all the population to have health reform.

Mike, you wouldn’t know tyranny if it bit you on the ass and crawled up your rectum.

  10. mikefromtexas says:

If it weren’t for Fox, no one would be paying attention to these silly nitwits. They basically are no differnt than some moron standing on a corner wearing a sandwich sign.

  11. Wilbur says:

Mike, you and I may agree on nothing politically but I’ve got to hand it to you for coming out and addressing the issue head on, instead of the s.o.p. among the wingnuts that troll this site, which is to say stomach-turning stuff like “But Obama said he wouldn’t bring a knife to a gun fight, so he’s just as bad, why aren’t you complaining about that…”

  12. Jesse Ewiak says:

That’s an insult to loons wearing sandwich board signs. At least they’re consistent. Most of those talking about tyranny and the end of liberty these days were the same people saying liberals were terrorist-loving commies because we dared question Dubya.

  13. Duros62 says:

Whatever, Mike. I bet you’re not even a Republican either, are you?

  14. Duros62 says:

It just starts to get tiring when the crazy loons are on every corner. And the editorial staff of the local paper.

  15. hypocrite says:

so. liberals do the same thing but more vile. i remember when dick cheny had a heart attack many libs wish he was dead. oh, that was real mature. presidents have their life threaten all the time, but since this is a black president, its headline news. big deal. let the secret service do their job. get a life

  16. Lil says:

Then you should distance yourself from the “teabaggers” because, violence, racism and bigotry ARE what that group now represents….

  17. neil says:

Actually, it perfectly encapsulates your “movement” – all except for the basic issue animating the teabaggers – race hatred.

It permeates everything you say, do, and everything you’re for. Period.

  18. daniel rotter says:

“many libs wish he was dead.”

Wishing someone is dead is not nice, but it’s NOT the same thing as calling for that person’s murder, which is what Forell did.

“presidents have their life threaten all the time.”

Not by bloggers, they don’t, which is why this is “headline news” (and not because Obama is “a black president”).

  19. DW says:

People who may death threats no matter what their political views are must be investigated.

I’ve seen them from both the Dems and the Republicans. To accuse the folks who protest against Obama of being racist is about as ingorant and shallow as you can get. Grow up. I’m happy that the false accusations of spitting and throwing around the “n” word were dispelled.

When you fabricate false claims and nonexistent violence you weaken your political stance.
