An accusation has been made in the world of conservatism. Mainstream media, what say you?

  1. They seem to speak of the reporter of the facts as if she doesn’t have much credibility. I’m not real familiar with her but a minimum Mr. Sean “I’m So Morally Correct” Hannity has some explaining to do, as they say…

It will be interesting to see where this goes.

    • Mark S. says:

Debbie Schlussel is really insane, but she is also very right wing and IIRC used to prominently display a picture on her site of her and Hannity.

Doing a little googling last night, apparently there have been suspicions about Hannity’s Freedom concerts (or whatever they’re called) for a couple of years now.

  2. Leota2 says:

Nothing would surprise me about Hannity. All his crap talk about most of the money collected going to the vets and their kids was way over the top and a bit masturbatory. Yet I’m not out the gate grabbing hold of everything Debbie Schlussel has to say either. But if she thinks she has the goods on him–go girl, go! Sean can then get eaten by one of his own species.

Hannity: “THE LEFTISTS ARE TRYING TO SMEAR MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!”

  4. I think they should give it the same coverage the UK is giving Climatescam… but since they are giving Climatescam no coverage, and since they refuse to discuss the downside of the Obamacare Bill, I would say they should give Hannity a pass.

    THAT’s balance !

    • Leota2 says:

Thanks Frank. I appreciate that you can always be counted on to keep that hat handy for your ass.

Who is this “they” you’re talking about, Frank? The only “they” covering this is a supercon Web site.

    • Zython says:

      1. Frank, I could explain why “climatescam” is BS, but either you wouldn’t understand (or pretend not to), or you would just run away as usual. Not much of a point.

      2. If there are legitimate downsides to “Obamacare”, why has your side of the aisle felt the need to relentlessly lie about it?

“Debbie’s engaging in Chicago politics”-Sean Hannity

  6. Leota, thanks to you and your colleagues for never having anything to say. It confirms my beliefs in the shallowness of liberalism.

  7. teflon_tim says:

Mark S. is right — people from the left side of the blogosphere have been talking for several years about the Freedom Concerts and how little they actually help the soldiers. And while I loathe Debbe Schlussel for her politics and the many loathsome things she has said, I’ve got to giver her props on this one. A conservative who actually cares about the troops rather than just give them lip service is a rare bird indeed.

And Frank… sorry, but we refuse to look over there.

  8. akelly says:

How could it possibly be a scam? The charity has Freedom in its name, sheesh.

  9. I was referring to why the MSM wasn’t covering it.

    However, something else has developed:

Regarding this morning’s item on Sean Hannity’s Freedom Concerts, it seems that much of Debbie Schlussel’s report was very misleading. A knowledgeable source tells me: “The reason so little has been paid out from the charity is that the vast majority of the kids the money WILL go to are right now not in college. When they turn 18 they will get the money for college. But because these are the children of Iraq and Afghanistan vets, their kids are mostly not of college age yet.”
As for Hannity’s private plane, my source says “he pays for it himself,” and adds that “he personally has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars of his own money to the Freedom Alliance.”

    See Freedom Alliance Statement here

    Stunning, indeed.

  10. Lonya says:

Well, perhaps there is a reason people aren’t jumping on the Schlussel bandwagon. As much as I’d like to find a reason to slam Ollie North and/or Hannity at least one charity review site seems to think they pass muster:

    http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=6590

Charity Navigator according to their “Overview”
Founded in 2001, Charity Navigator has become the nation’s largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities. In our quest to help donors, our team of professional analysts has examined tens of thousands of non-profit financial documents. As a result, we know as much about the true fiscal operations of charities as anyone. We’ve used this knowledge to develop an unbiased, objective, numbers-based rating system to assess the financial health of over 5,000 of America’s best-known charities.

UNless someone is willing to tell me how and why charity navigator has gotten it all wrong I’d be reluctant to start gloating about the fall of Hannity.

  11. Leota , must you be so predictable?

When Shlussel hit Hannity, you swallowed it whole – no problem believing a conservative then. But then American Spectator – which owes Hannity nothing — retracts their story, and suddenly the fact that they’re a conservative magazine matters.

*Sigh*, my ass. This blog is ongoing evidence that you liberals should never be allowed to run a government — you are frauds, hypocrites and liars. You have no morals, ethics or standards. You will say and do anything , no matter how outrageous or contradictory, to call yourselves right. You should have kept your mouth shut once you knew that there was no story here.

A compelling argument, Mr. DiSalle, stunning for its depth of reasoning and impressive for its breadth of evidence. Daunting as the task may be, I shall endeavor to respond at a comparable level. Here goes:

    Nuh-uh.

  13. Quaker / Durablend: Once again , like typical liberals, you mistake cleverness for intelligence. Since you have marginally succeeded at the former, you then erroneously persuade yourselves that you have greatly succeeded at the latter.

In your case, you’ve consistently displayed neither, along with an inability to start your own blog instead of trolling here along with those savants Dennis, SaveFarris, Amused Observer, none of the latter having the excuse of hepatic encephalopathy that might explain where you’re coming from……………

Any thing less than 75% of your donations going to actual charitable work is deemed inefficient. Freedom alliance tax records indicate that 7%,4% and 12% of actual donations went to the charitable cause over the last 3 years.

Here are the tax tax records:
