Allen Boyd Flips From No to “Yes” On Health Care Reform
Tweet
This would seem – TENTATIVELY – to give the Dems 216 votes needed for passage.
U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd, who voted against national health care last November, said today he will vote for the new bill when it comes to the House floor.
The Monticello Democrat said he studied the revised bill and the Congressional Budget Office report on its costs and benefits. He said ‘it’s not perfect’ but that the package meets the four criteria he set forth in a series of 16 meetings across the 2nd Congressional District last summer.

I didn’t see this until today (work work work), but Glenn Greenwald once again hits the nail on the head:
Has Rahm’s assumption about progressives been vindicated?
(Rahm’s assumption: that progressives could be safely ignored, because they would fall in line behind whatever bill the White House supported, even if it went against supposedly deeply-held beliefs. Answer: yes, his assumption was correct)
In other words, the assumption was that progressives would prefer not losing to losing?
That Rahm’s a radical, ain’t he?
I don’t think you’re counting right, OW, at least according to Open Left’s whip count comparing House positions to November 2009 votes.
1. 10 confirmed “Yes to No” votes: Arcuri, Cao, Carney, Costello, Donnelly, Driehaus, Lipinski, Lynch, Rahall, Stupak
2. 7 confirmed “No to Yes” votes: Boccieri, Boyd, Gordon, Kosmas, Kucinich, Markey, S. Murphy
3. This is a net of two three votes for “Yes to No.” Without losing anymore yes votes, the Democratic leadership needs to pick up at least two more “no” vote from November to pass the bill.
Thing is everyone under the sun has a count going. Fox is saying 216, and considering the source, its prob higher. The only whip count that counts is Pelosi’s right now.
Yeah, but HuffPo says we’re 10 votes shy @4:45 p.m. Sat. I need a drink.
