Psychiatrist Warned German Church About Pedophile While Pope Benedict Was In Charge

Another smoking gun.
The German archdiocese led by the future Pope Benedict XVI ignored repeated warnings in the early 1980s by a psychiatrist treating a priest accused of sexually abusing boys that he should not be allowed to work with children, the psychiatrist said Thursday.
‘I said, ‘For God’s sake, he desperately has to be kept away from working with children,’ ’ the psychiatrist, Dr. Werner Huth, said in a telephone interview from Munich. ‘I was very unhappy about the entire story.’
Dr. Huth said he was concerned enough that he set three conditions for treating the priest, the Rev. Peter Hullermann: that he stay away from young people and alcohol and be supervised by another priest at all times.
Dr. Huth said he issued the explicit warnings — both written and oral — before the future pope, then Joseph Ratzinger, archbishop of Munich and Freising, left Germany for a position in the Vatican in 1982.

No apologies are needed from the Pope. I just read the 20 page apology recently released. The only thing that can be done to set this right is to ensure that no statute of limitations applies. All clergy involved with the acts. Prosecuted. All clergy involved with “transfers” that are found to be coverups. Prosecuted. Civil litigation and monetary awards should be between the victims and the church.
Frank, does it bother you that many leaders of your faith appear to be child rapists, or at the least morally-bankrupt bastards that cover up for child rapists?

This scenario could have easily happened, under Church law and discipline.
A priest is suspected of molesting a child. His bishop is informed, and he is quietly reassigned to another parish or discese. He continues to molest children.
Church position – this is regrettable.
This scenario, also:
A priest is suspected of molesting a child. The person suspecting him reports him to the police. He is arrested, charged, tried, convicted and sentenced to prison.
Church position – this is UNACCEPTABLE. Find the person who reported him, and excommunicate that person!
To people who still think that ‘the liberals’ are persecuting ‘the Church’ – well, we didn’t do it quite so much before finding out about all this. We’re not just making it up because we hate God.
