Still wondering when they are going to discount my season tickets…

I live in Chicago, Grossman is an absolute trainwreck. Nothing since he has left has proved otherwise. More mismanagement by Snyder and company. New boss same as the old boss.

you knew I wouldn’t miss this O! wooooooohoooooo, all aboard the sexy rexy train!!!! Think of it this way now I can think about cheering for the skins over the Giants. As for other Bears fans who still can’t stand Rex, yeah those are the same fans who 1) loved the Cedric Benson pick and 2) loved picking up Jay Cutler. I was at the draft when both were taken (by the Bears and Broncos) and I booed very loudly and told people they were bums!!!! I was the ONLY Bears fan at the draft that I met who did NOT want Benson. And Cutler still is a bum. The problem is alot of Bears fans wanted to blame Rex or other players and have failed to realize our OC was the problem. Well now we have a new one so we will see what happens.

This actually makes sense. By releasing Collins and signing Grossman, they’re getting a proven NFL backup with experience as the starting GB, and who’s a lot younger than the guy they’re releasing.

It’s only goofy if you think they envision him as the starter

  4. jmm says:

    that should be “starting QB”

Going out on a bit of a limb here, but I’ll bet that Jay Cutler finishes his career with better numbers than any of the QBs that were plausible alternatives to him: Rex Grossman, Kyle Orton, or Matt Cassel (the one the new Denver coach wanted to throw Cutler over for). To date, Cutler’s career numbers are clearly better than those others:

Cutler: 4 seasons, 12,690 yards passing, 83.8 QB rating
Grossman: 7 seasons, 6,197 yards passing, 69.5 QB rating
Orton: 5 seasons, 9,121 yards passing, 76.9 QB rating
Cassel: 5 seasons, 6870 yards passing, 79.6 QB rating

(obviously none of them is exactly Drew Brees)

Cutler was a bum at Vanderbilt and is still a bum. Here’s a stat:

    Cutler-in 1 year with Chicago (and Grossman’s OC) 27 TD’s, 26 INT’s and a 76.8 rating.

    Grossman-in 1st year as a full starter in 2006. 23 TD’s, 20 INT’s, 73.9 rating and a SB appearance!

Oh did I mention the 26 INT’s by Cutler were the most by ANY bears QB since 1947!!!!! 2 years removed from WWII!!!! Cutler benefited from a pass happy offense in Denver and is now being exposed.

  7. Chris Higgins says:

    unllaw,
I’m sorry did you forget Rexs’ Super Bowl stats?
20 of 28 passes for 165 yards, threw two interceptions and lost a fumble. Oh you did? Chicago has had much worse Quarterbacks than Rex but it wasn’t happening with him. Both Cutler and Rex aren’t going to take over a game and they both need running games to take the pressure off but Cutler has way more upside that mediocre Grossman.

  8. unllaw says:

    Chris,

I did not include Rex’s SB stats because Cutler has not been there. Just like I did not include Cutlers PB appearance because Rex has never been there.

Every QB needs a running game to be successful, Chicago is no different. What might allow Cutler to be less of a bum is Chicago’s front office FINALLY got rid of their OC. The same OC that only believed in a dink and dunk strategy. Running game aside, and QB comparisons aside, Chicago is going no where because they have failed to address their OL the last couple of years. Plain and simple. Unfortunately, Cutler should prepare for another year of 35+ sacks.
