    Republicans are fucking hilarious.

  2. joey doughnuts says:

    Nut.Job.

“Dear Lord Baby Jesus, or as our brothers in the South call you: ‘Jee-suz’. We thank you so much for this bountiful harvest of Dominos, KFC, and the always delicious Taco Bell. I just want to take time to say thank you for my family: my two beautiful, beautiful, handsome striking sons, Walker: Texas Ranger, or TR as we call him. And, of course, my red hot smokin’ wife Carley, who is a stone cold fox, who if you would rate her ass on 100, it would easily be a 94. I also want to thank you for my best friend and teammate, Cal Naughton Jr, who’s got my back no matter what…Dear Lord Baby Jesus, we also thank you for my wife’s father Chip. We hope that you can use your Baby Jesus powers to heal him and his horrible leg. It smells terrible and the dogs are always botherin’ with it. Dear Tiny Infant Jesus…”

  3. Marco says:

Yes, Donna. You don’t give a shit which is why you post here.

Anyway, God called, Janet. He said “No!” and get rid of your jacket from 1998.

  4. Jay says:

Terrific. Another one of those mythical “leaders” that nobody has ever heard of before and I guess has all of this supposed influence over Christ followers nation-wide.

I did a Google search for this lady and what came up was some website called Faith2Action which doesn’t work and a few World Net Daily articles. Most of the results however, pointed to sites containing this video at some small conference.

Meanwhile, I doubt we’ll see Andy posting videos from this conference:

    http://www.newspring.cc/leadershipconference/

    Or this one

    http://www.catalystwestcoast.com/home.php

despite the fact that when it comes to Christian leadership in the country, guys like Francis Chan, Andy Stanley, Mark Driscoll, Perry Noble, etc stand head and shoulders above people like Janet Porter.

  5. NCSenior says:

OK, as a progressive I am more then willing to agree that nut cases from both ends of the political spectrum should be jettisoned from the political scene.

  6. jr says:

It’s not cool for adults to have imaginary friends

  7. This again, jay? Porter writes for World Net Daily and holds conferences with James Dobson. And I’m sure you’ll say you never heard of him either. The religious right, especially the section that gets involved in politics, is lousy with nuts and the Christian version of jihadists. People that are religious like you should be the first in line against them, not pretending they don’t exist.

  8. Quaker in a Basement says:

What’s that OW? If only the moderates would speak out against the radicals???

    That sounds familiar.

  9. Jay says:

Wow! She writes for World Net Daily! That suddenly elevates her to the status of a “Leader.” GMAFB. If somebody here linked to a story in WND, you’d dismiss it as crap. But apparently somebody that WRITES for World Net Daily is HA-YOOG! I’m sick and tired of this nonsense and that’s exactly what it is: NONSENSE. You take marginalized figures and turn them into these people that supposedly exert pressure over tens of millions. All it does is give you an excuse to take this tiny little sub-culture within the Christian community and apply it to the Christian community at large save for those that fit within your boundary of “acceptable” Christianity. You do exactly the same thing you decry when people start accusing Muslims of being terrorists simply because they’re Muslim.

Is Louis Farrakhan a “Muslim” leader? No. He’s the leader of the Nation of Islam, a kook-fringe element of the Islamic faith, but using your logic, because he exerts influence over that small sub-section it would perfectly legitimate to take examples of the wack-job crap he has spouted and say, “This is what one of the leaders of the Islamic faith is saying.”

In the words of President Obama, “Words mean something.” So take some pause the next time you try to elevate some person well known to a tiny fractious sub-section of a community as a “leader” of the entire community, ok?

  10. Marco says:

Here’s some of non-Christian leader Janet Porter’s resume.

  11. Quaker in a Basement says:

All it does is give you an excuse to take this tiny little sub-culture within the Christian community and apply it to the Christian community at large save for those that fit within your boundary of “acceptable” Christianity.

I believe he said “the religious right,” Jay. Are YOU equating that with the “Christian community at large”?

  12. Jody says:

When the “nutroots” have a fraction of the power the American Taliban have in this country I’ll consider taking Donna’s bilge more seriously. Until then it’s just more false equivalence. There is no parity there.

  13. Jody says:

To Jay, the only proper religionists ARE the religious right. Nobody else counts.

  14. Mario says:

you do see the irony of calling these freaks Taliban when the video features a woman preaching…something that would never happen under the Taliban.

  15. Connie says:

Jay, Oliver is not saying that Janet represents the entire christian community, hence his headline AMERICAN TALIBAN. And, what she is doing is extremely dangerous, if left unchecked. Dobson and the FOCUS ON THE FAMILY, whom she is associated with, exerts tremendous influence on American Christians and many politicians. Dobson preys on those weak minded insecure, particularly those that do not take the time to study for themselves, but just follow along like sheep, charismatic “Christian” leaders. There is a dangerous element to people like Janet Porter, and as a Christian, if that is what you claim to be, you should be calling her out as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

I am a Catholic and I protest and scream out against abuse of children by priest and support every lawsuit levied against the church on behalf the abused children. As an African American and Catholic I do not condone the Church’s, funding and wealth accumulation due to its involvement in the Tans-Atlantic Slave Trade. (I also know quite a few wonderful priests and nuns who are progressive Catholics and do as well.) It is my responsibility as a practicing Catholic to voice my opinion, at the very least let my displeasure be known among my peers both Theists and Atheists, regarding the sexism, racism, homophobia, and hypocrisy among the hierarchy and religious leaders of the Catholic Church. I do not defend them, because I do not wish to legitimize them. And with all due respect Jay, it seems that you are defending them by not speaking out against them, even if in your opinion they are “fringe.” Instead you are, excuse the pun, shooting the proverbial messenger, Oliver.

Additionally, you mentioned Minister Louis Farrakhan and how he’s a fringe element of the Islamic faith; I agree that he is separate from the mainstream Islamic doctrine, however, every time he has made an anti-Semitic, anti “White People” remark, not only was he called to retract it, but every African American leader, media personality, and “man on the street,” was asked to denounce not only the statement but him as well.

I thank Oliver for posting this, because people like Jay like to believe that the “Taliban” like “Terrorism” is unique to the Arab/Muslim community . The rest of us must be reminded that we have our home grown versions as well.

  16. Mario says:

Donna…Im a liberal…your side had its chance and left the country in shamble…..keep your mouth shut and let the grown ups fix your mess……again.

  17. Quaker in a Basement says:

    But…but…liberals are poopyheads!!

(Donna’s on break. I’m covering for her.)

  18. Marco says:

Not to speak for Oliver, but she earned her stripes.

Don’t think we’re under a curse? Spend a minute looking at one of the U.S. debt clocks. Here’s just one, http://www.usdebtclock.org, which puts our national debt at $12 trillion and counting and our nation’s total debt at more than $54 trillion. Don’t think we’re under a curse? We are just finding out what’s in that debt-raising “first stimulus” bill, while Obama has announced that he’s going to try and ram through another along with the most lethal legislation this nation has ever seen: government health-care rationing – with taxpayer-funded killing of the elderly, disabled and those soon to be born.

And if it’s Obama-appointed government committees deciding who lives and dies, who’s to say they wouldn’t handle it the same way they decided which car dealers got to keep their private businesses? Those who contributed more than a few hundred dollars to Obama got to keep their car dealership, and those (primarily Republicans) who didn’t were closed, no matter how successful they were. Yeah, we’re under a curse.

The good news is there is a way to break a curse. The checklist has been provided in 2 Chronicles 7:14: 1) humble ourselves, 2) pray, 3) seek God’s face, and 4) Repent and turn from our wicked ways. That’s exactly what we are going to do two months from now on May the 1st.

  19. Quaker in a Basement says:

Death panels? She’s still pushing death panels?

    Jay’s right. No way she’s a first-stringer.

  20. Mario says:

NO…really……keep your mouth shut…..your side has NOTHING to add to the solution.

  21. Quaker in a Basement says:

Don’t let Mario tell you what to do, Donna. Speak! Speak now! C’mon, speak!

  22. Mario says:

is there a treat invplved? ……will she be allowed to waterboard an illegal immigrant if she speaks?

  23. Quaker in a Basement says:

We’ll give-ums a tummy rub! Yes we will!

  24. Connie says:

Quaker, you crack me up……thank you, thank you, thank you.
    xoxoxo

  25. Mario says:

maybe well go walkies after …you like that?…yes.. I knew you would … thats a good lil teabagger .
Come on..get your Reagan chew toy and lets go to the government run park and play.

  26. Quaker in a Basement says:

Be careful! I have a rolled up newspaper and I’m not afraid to use it!

  27. Quaker in a Basement says:

    {{{{{{{{tummyrub!!!!}}}}}}

  28. Mario says:

I guess pathetic wuss doenst count as a grade school insult.

ooooh..and a NOT ..joke..you are on the cutting edge of internet comedy.

More great insight from the mind of a teabagger..yes I know…teabagger and mind is an oxymoron
..and no, Oxymoron is not a new way to describe Rush Limpballs.

  29. teflon_tim says:

Hmmm… What do we think is the relationship between the following two statements?

    1) Man oh man, what’s with the grade school insults anyway?

Followed in the same breath by:

    2) Liberal men are pathetic wusses anyway!

Is this the death of irony? Cognitive dissonance? Projection? IOKIYAR? Or all of the above? It’s hard for us wussy liberal men to tell nowadays…

  30. Randy Brown says:

There’s an old Redd Foxx heckler put-down that I could easily use on Donna right now, but I’m sure OW wold delete it…

  31. Randy Brown says:

    …OW WOULD delete it…

  32. Randy Brown says:

“Rolled-up newspaper.” That’s rich, especially since Donna seems to have 2)distemper, and 3)the mange. Those who are familiar with my Palin comments should remember what #1 is!!

  33. timmy says:

Gods problem is that George Soros is just too damned powerful. In fact, witness the powaahh of the dark side. It is your Des-tin-y. Come, join George today and we shall rule the galaxy as Soros and sons!

  34. timmy says:

If Jay had eaten his prayer wheaties today I woulda asked him if God considers far left Christians to be basically Muslim. Some other time I guess.

  35. Oliver says:

To quote myself “Religious right leader Janet Porter”. I didn’t say she was a christian leader. I didn’t put her up there with the Pope, or Billy Graham, or even Joel Osteen. But she is a leader on the religious right.

Your double edged problem is pretending like the religious right isn’t chock-filled with wackos and assuming tha the religious right is representative of Christianity on a whole.

  36. cj says:

Thanks for making me pee in pants laughing at your comment. You owe me some new pants. lol

  37. Jaim says:

There’s no contradiction is thinking a) World Net Daily is crap and b) highly representative of the anti-science, anti-factual, and anti-reality flavor of much wing-nut discourse and also c) it’s easy to dismiss from a reality-based standpoint and d) highly influential among the wingnutters.

So to dismiss the typical GOP bullshit is not the same as thinking the right has developed a highly insular fictional bubble for itself that is resistant to fact and reality.

  38. calling all toasters says:

“But until then I don’t give a SHIT!”

Well, it hasn’t happened yet, so I guess you’re still full of shit.

  39. JB says:

How many of you mainstream wako Christians and Muslims believe in a pregnant virgin and other kooky notions like “resurrection day” aka when billions of dead people come out of literal earthen graves to heaven or further down to hell?

  40. tim says:

Ha! I actually prefer ‘pee in pants’. Because then, well, whose pants? Are you wearing them? Is somebody else wearing them? Are you laughing so hard pee is shooting out and soaking someone else’s pants? cj, that’s gross, get a grip on yourself and stop peeing other people’s pants!

  41. Jay says:

I believe he said “the religious right,” Jay.

Yeah, I know what he wrote. Define “the religious right” Quaker. I’ve seen people say it encompasses anybody that is opposed to gay marriage or supports abortion restrictions. That would include Billy Graham and Joel Osteen.

  42. Jay says:

and as a Christian, if that is what you claim to be, you should be calling her out as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

And with all due respect Jay, it seems that you are defending them by not speaking out against them, even if in your opinion they are “fringe.”

Thank you Connie. By writing this, you pretty much proved my point because this is the essence of what happens when stuff like this has a light shined upon it. This is the reaction people are looking for. “Oh, you don’t condemn this? Then I suppose you agree with it!” It’s a tired and worn political tactic (one that is often wielded by conservatives as well) that has nothing to do with any real concern but has everything to do with politics.

    A video like this:

    http://vimeo.com/7072300

won’t go viral on left wing blogs and websites. And why not? Because despite the fact that you have an arena filled with 12,000 evangelical Christians, most of whom are 40 and under and most likely don’t support gay marriage and are pro-life, the people there don’t fit into the neat little stereotype the left has created about evangelical Christians which is of the Janet Porter types.

Oh that’s a bunch of BS. Do you remember the “Million Man March”? There were more than enough people thrilled to share the stage with that lunatic.

  43. Jay says:

Oh and an example would be Rick Warren. He’s apparently a member of the “religious right” as well because he doesn’t support gay marriage and supported Proposition 8 in California.

Somebody give him a call and make sure he checks in with his “leader” Janet Porter.

  44. Quaker in a Basement says:

    Define “the religious right” Quaker.

You first. That’s what OW wrote. You substituted “the Christian community at large.”

Are these two things the same or different?

  45. Marco says:

More about insignificant Janet from Right Wing Watch today –

Allow me to also point out that Porter regularly has Republican members on Congress on her radio program – in fact, right before she made this statement, she was interviewing Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyoming) about health care, and the day before, she had Senator Mike Johanns (R-Nebraska) on her program to discuss the same issue.

  46. Jay says:

“You first” What are you a toddler?

I already pointed out that Rick Warren has been labeled as a member of the “Religious right” by a good number of liberals. So how is it defined when somebody like Rick Warren is grouped in with people like Janet Porter? According to Oliver, she’s part of the “religious right” and a LEADER at that. Others say Rick Warren is part of the “religious right.” Is he a leader? Or does he answer to Janet Porter? I don’t know.

The dilemma is yours, not mine.

  47. Zython says:

That would include Billy Graham and Joel Osteen.

This would be the same Joel Osteen that believes that material wealth is a reward from God for righteousness?

Oh and an example would be Rick Warren. He’s apparently a member of the “religious right” as well because he doesn’t support gay marriage and supported Proposition 8 in California.

    And, you know, this.
