Obama To Invoke Reconciliation For Up Or Down Vote On Health Care
Tweet
ABC:
White House officials tell ABC News that in his remarks tomorrow President Obama will indicate a willingness to work with Republicans on some issue to get a health care reform bill passed but will suggest that if it is necessary, Democrats will use the controversial ‘reconciliation’ rules requiring only 51 Senate votes to pass the ‘fix’ to the Senate bill, as opposed to the 60 votes to stop a filibuster and proceed to a vote on a bill.

“THERE WAS NEVER RECONCILIATION UNDER BUSH. YOU HAVE THE PRE-9/11 MINDSET. MORE DATABASES AND TAXES THAT NONE OF MY READERS MAKE ENOUGH TO HAVE TO PAY”-Matt Drudge
Hah, Matt Drudge?
You might as well ask the cat.
Lead by doing. He dragged his feet on this but if it gets done there’s no looking back. America gets a bill that can be improved upon in the future, Republicans will have absolutely nothing to run on come November.
And the lesson? Stop being so goddamn hesitant. The electorate will respond to leadership and getting things done, not playing nice with GOP thugs.
Oliver, I see that you’ve used the controversial practice known as “blogging” to discuss this issue. I was wondering if you think you’re likely to engage in the controversial practice known as “drinking” before the pundits are done performing the controversial “talking out their asses” about this.
About time we saw some actually leadership and determination to get this done from Obama.
Just wish it wasn’t still couched in typical Democrat wimpy don’t-want-to,-y’know,-actually-get-anyone-mad-at-us “willingness to work with Republicans” and using reconciliation “if it is necessary” terms.
Yo, Obama. Get a clue. It’s necessary.
Better approach: “We tried. They aren’t interested. Fuck ‘em. We’re doing it by reconciliation.”
