Brooklyn Prosecutors Clear ACORN, Law Enforcement: Tapes Edited

I’m shocked

While the video by James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles seemed to show three ACORN workers advising a prostitute how to hide ill-gotten gains, the unedited version was not as clear, according to a law enforcement source.

‘They edited the tape to meet their agenda,’ said the source.

“The prosecutors are using Alinsky tactics”-Andrew Breitbart
“Mom, I’m going to go attack more black people”-house arrestee James O’Keefe

  2. cj says:

Another misleading thing about those tapes is that James O’Keefe and his sidekick weren’t even dressed up as a pimp and hoe when they went into the ACORN offices.

It’s sad to know that the Democratic Congress and the White House basically turned their backs and helped to defund ACORN for no reason before they had enough information about what had happen. Now some community organizations once were part of ACORN in some areas(NY & California)are breaking away because of lack of funding and bad reputation due to what just happened to them.

ACORN ministers to the wretched of the earth, which explains not just why the right loathes them so, but also why nearly all the rest (affluent “liberals” as much as anyone) avert their eyes from them and don’t much care whether the charges against them have any merit.

  4. Jaim says:

James O’Keefe will learn plenty about what it’s like to be a prostitute once he’s behind bars.

Kirsten Gillibrand NY Senator picked by David Patterson, voted against defunding ACORN, and “liberal” Charles Schummer voted to defund. I agree with kth regarding affluent liberals often times following lock and step when it comes to the poor, powerless and downtrodden. We have got to hold their feet to the fire sometimes more often than the conservative as they think they may have a “pass” in the liberal community. I was in NYC when that vote came down, and it made me take a different look at Gillibrand the Democratic conservative from Upstate New York.

And where did those pimp costumes come from, the dusty archive of costumes from the Superfly Set? Or did they borrow it from the old “Seinfeld” set, episode when Kramer borrowed the coat from the cast of “Jason and his Technicolor Coat” and was arrested for being a pimp? Just askin?

    Speaking of agendas:

“On Sept. 15, 2009, my office began an investigation into possible criminality on the part of three ACORN employees,” Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes said in a one-paragraph statement issued Monday afternoon.

Should anyone be surprised? The Brooklyn DA is a member of the ACORN/Working Families Party. That means he signed their pledge, and worked for their endorsement.

You mean a supporter of ACORN/WFP investigates and finds “no criminality”?

    I’m shocked!

Agenda? For someone who swoons and clutches his pearls over Oliver’s supposedly hyperbolic posts…

    Pump the brakes there, champ

    To whit:
But Alex correctly pointed out that there’s no evidence whatsoever that Hynes has ever acted inappropriately. Indeed, he’s successfully prosecuted Democratic politicians and even showed exemplary integrity in recusing himself from a case involving a former political opponent.

    Further:
    ———-
That’s pretty thin gruel for calling Hynes “the best DA money can buy.” New York City is a political oddity in the United States, with a lot of small political parties, like WFP, and local politicians working to get on multiple party lists. And Hynes has been re-elected three times, so the idea that he’s somehow especially beholden to ACORN is hard to argue.

I agree that this appears to be a appearance of conflict of interest, however, there’s no evidence that there’s any actual conflict of interest. As far as I can tell, Hynes’ career shows no evidence of corruption, and he has certainly been willing to prosecute Democrats (successfully).
    ———-
So he’s a card carrying member of their party, eh? Really? The press release says that he was one of forty-eight politicians who (presumably) applied for, and received, their endorsement (in a race where he was the incumbent).

Wait, let’s see what WFP says. Surely, they’ll clear this up. They must only support internal candidates.

Does the Working Families Party ever run its own candidates?

Most of the time, the Working Families Party cross endorses Democrats or (occasionally) Republicans who promise to fight for issues that matter to working people. But we do run our own candidates, if we think we can win. Letitia James was elected to the New York City Council, Luci McKnight was elected to County Legislature in Albany, and Wayne Hall was elected mayor of Hempstead, Long Island, all solely on the WFP line.

Oh. Whoops. Also, if you bother to check through their site, ACORN is mentioned several times as an affiliate organization. So your nifty “ACORN/WFP” shorthand, obviously meant to imply that the two organizations are directly connected, is pretty dishonest. And wrong.

So: Charles Hynes has an agenda, because he received one of many endorsements by a small political party which was organized over a decade ago by a number of groups, one of which was ACORN.

And incidentally, James O’Keefe- well, he’s turning out to be quite the solid, upstanding, straight-shooter, eh? Noooooo agenda there. You definitely should take his bullshit as gospel and reserve your suspicion for Hynes.

Oh, Dave in SoCal. Your agenda is showing. How unfortunate.
