All self-serving politics, no people-serving governance. Typical GOP weasel.

So he thinks the stimulus bill was way too expensive and it created a lot of problems and would not achieve the results promised to sell it. In other words, he didn’t buy the hype and was against the measure. But he should have been for it if he knew that his district would benefit from it?

Or, having been against the measure as a whole and being highly disappointed at the results to date, he should go to the podium at the press announcement and say he can’t be too jazzed about the number of jobs being created from this project because he was against the measure as a whole for unrelated reasons.

But Congressman Cantor, if you give us your vote in support of this stimulus bill, your district may very well receive this massive rail project and you will look like a hero, even though you think too many other things about it stink to high heaven.

That to liberals would be acceptable and not hypocritical, as it was with the Louisiana Purchase and the Cornhusker Kickback.

  3. Buzz Killington says:

That is not at all a GOP-specific problem. If you think so, you are a weasel with them.

  4. unllaw says:

Just a thought: If Repubs want to say they were against the Stimilus before they were for it, no big deal. Allow them the opportunity to stay true to themselves and their morals. If Repubs are so proud of themselves, I say they can proudly claim their opposition for any Stimulus in a speech prior to handing out the money from the Stimulus. Just let the people you are giving money to that you were against it initially but thought they should get some money. I think that is fair. Just a 1 sentence disclaimer.

The liberals in Nero’s senate were far worse. In fact, Thag the liberal was so obnoxious he was thrown out of the Ug tribe cave in 27,000 B.C.

I was with the conservatives until the Teapot Dome Scandal.

    Marketing and Batting average.

  7. Dennis says:

Funny, timmy. I was referring to the bribes that Mary Landreau and Ben Nelson took in exchange for their yea votes on the Senate HCR bill. I didn’t think I needed to explain that.

  8. Never before in recorded history has a senator or house member been offered something for his or her home state in exchange for a vote on a bill. NEVER!
