Well, that speech was better than I thought it would be. Didn’t go over people’s heads, but made a clear distinction between people fighting for banks and money interest and those fighting for tax breaks for American business and people.

This was not a “no mas” speech.

I agree. I liked him noting that with such strong majorities of his own party in the legislature, now was not a time to ‘run for the hills’, which may have momentarily gotten the hill-climbers to stop, turn, and wave at least a bit.

Were you hoping for a Galaxy Quest-ian “Never give up! Never Surrender!” ?

  3. Amused Observer says:

I certainly hope he doesn’t quit. It’s the best way for him to further alienate the american people and fail in his mission to shift this nation hard to the left.

  4. Zython says:

Partisan Leftist agenda needs to be shoved down everyone’s throats.

Of course, you had no problem with Bush’s far right agenda screwing up the country beyond belief. The people voted for it in 2008. If you don’t like it, you can move back to Saudi Arabia.

I don’t give a FUCK what loudmouthed liberal dimwits like you think anyway.

Wait, we’ve been vindicated on every single thing that’s happened over the past decade, and we’re the dimwits? Someone hasn’t been paying attention.

What you are saying then is that you hope he doesn’t quit because he will fail if he stays, so if he DID quit, he would succeed in his fiendish progressive agenda.

Do you have Sarah Palin’s cellphone number? How are you communicating with her?

  6. SaveFarris says:

No they voted for the guy who promised “a net spending cut”.
They voted for the guy who promised to hold health-care negotiations on CSPAN.
They voted for the guy who promised to post every bill on the internet 5 days before he signed it.
They voted for the guy who promised not to hire lobbyists.
They voted for the guy who promised to bring bipartisanship to Washington.

When you see that guy, let me know.

  7. Repack Rider says:

Yeah right if you call being “Vindicated”, LOSING a special election to a REPUBLICAN in Massachusetts

If that is an example of conservative logic, it’s no wonder the economy crashed while you guys ran it.

He was speaking about economic policy and the disaster to the economy under the GOP, not special elections, but somehow you conflated two unrelated thoughts in order to dis the president. Perhaps you noticed that the economy isn’t doing well right now; well, so did the president, but you didn’t like the implications of who might be responsible.

    Boo hoo.

  8. [...] Oliver Willis’s “Well, that speech was better than I thought it would be” is, again, not a ringing endorsement. It echoes the “it’s better than nothing” battlecry of those who support the healthcare reform bill making its way through the Congress. As much a sigh of relief as support. [...]

    “We don’t quit. I don’t quit.”

This was obviously intended as a gratuitous swipe against Sarah Palin.

  10. liberalrob says:

You can’t quit if you never started.

  11. Quaker in a Basement says:

They voted for the guy who promised not to hire lobbyists.
They voted for the guy who promised to bring bipartisanship to Washington.

    I choose these. Links?

  12. He’s been trying to be bipartisan, but your buddies keep shouting him down.

  13. Amused Observer says:

    Oliver,
You fail to address the valid points brought up by Farris. Obama hasn’t followed through on the promises he made. He lied. His biggest problem now is he has no credibility. It doesn’t matter what he says because people who were predisposed to favor him no longer put much value in what he claims is going to happen.
