Scott Brown Asked If Barack Obama Was Born Out Of Wedlock

Before Scott Brown was the GOP media darling du jour, this video shows he was just another rightie hack that was throwing mud at then-candidate Barack Obama. And not the substantive kind.

  1. Counterfactual says:

Goodness, how inbred the Democratic party must be in Mass. to pick a candidate who is worse than this guy.

  2. Rheinhard says:

But pointing out that Scott Brown is a teabagger birther just shows HOW SCARED THE LIBS ARE!

  3. Rheinhard says:

    </wingnut>

  4. durablend says:

“Well of course he was born out of wedlock! Isn’t that how they all do it in Kenya?” /cons

  5. daniel rotter says:

I curious about why Brown felt it necessary to mention that President Obama’s mother was 18 when he was born in the first place. Anybody know the full context of the clip?

  6. daniel rotter says:

    Goodness, ” I’M curious…”

  7. Mac says:

    Well, someone’s a bastard…

  8. jr says:

FiveThirtyEight calls him a “liberal republican”

  9. Dennis says:

So then, Rheinhard, if Brown is a ‘teabagger’ and he wins, will you acknowledge what a monumental victory it was for for the Tea Partiers?

    Or Oliver?

    I’m guessing not.

    You’ll blame Coakley.

  10. You have got to be kidding!

  11. Dennis says:

This is weak and desperate, not to mention a reach further than this place usually goes.

Obama’s mother was 3 months pregnant when she married Obama’s father, who was married to another woman at the time. Obama admitted this when he was first asked about Sarah Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy just after Palin had been named McCain’s campaign. To have been uncertain about whether Obama’s parents had actually been married at the actual time of his birth is not unusual for anyone.

Calling Curt Schilling a Yankees fan is a far different matter of cluelessness. Worlds apart.

  12. Dennis says:

    Intrade Prediction Markets:

MA Special Election – Winner of Massachusetts Special Election (to replace Ted Kennedy)

    Martha Coakley: Last Price: 45.1

    Scott Brown: Last Price: 55.0

  13. abanterer says:

Because, when I think “accurate predictors of the future”, I think ‘Day-traders”.

Maybe Brown WILL win. It can, and does happen. But, rarely is it determined by the consensus opinion of on-line gamblers, most of whom have no other say in the matter other than to bet on the outcome.

  14. abanterer says:

Obama is the president, having fulfilled all qualifications to that office to the satisfaction of all prevailing authorities. Questions on Obama’s conception prior to his mother’s marriage is irrelevant panty-sniffing on the part of Brown. So, frankly, up his.

  15. Dennis says:

It’s people with real money making bets, rather than douches like us guessing on intuition about polls that are all over the place, or with our hearts, or even with the knowledge that, like Ed Schultz admitted he would do if he could get away with it, people in Massachusettes will cheat to get Coakley the victory.

Intrade was showing Coakley contracts trading in the high 50′s and into the 60′s even late last week when several polls were showing Brown with slight leads; an indication that the smart money was well aware of people like Ed Schultz’ influence in Mass. at the last minute.

If you think these people who bet their own money are smoking dope, abanterer, it’s very easy for you put your money where your mouth is and more than double your money in just a couple of days. Please do, and then let us know how you did.

  16. Dennis says:

No doubt Oliver’s under his cabinets right now trying to disconnect the kitchen sink to throw in here next.

Brown said he was unsure whether or not Obama’s mother was married at the time of her marriage to Obama’s father, and it was in response to the topic at the time of Sarah Palin’s daughter. Bristol and the father of her child had said they were going to be married, too. And even Barack Obama himself compared his mother’s situation to Bristol Palin’s when he said family members should be off-limits.

Good luck with this non-issue. Just make sure to turn off all the shut-off valves before you start disconnecting pipes. Have a pot on hand and a towel or two as well.

  17. abanterer says:

I could care less whether they were betting in leprechaun gold, they don’t have any say in this election, except for the marginal proportion of traders who live in Massachusetts, and if they are voting in an effort to gain monetary value, then screw them anyway, even if they ARE on my side. Gambling isn’t voting. People put money on long shots to recoup larger rewards when they do win. Some people plop a lot of money down on a race just to influence the odds. It’s a different activity entirely.

I don’t like in Mass., so I have no say in it either. I obviously don’t want Brown in, because not only is he espousing a political agenda I disagree with, but apparently he’s also a bit of a dick. But, if people vote for him in Mass., then I sure as hell can’t stop it.

And honestly, screw InTrade and all the rest. I don’t mind a friendly wager or betting pool, but this is way beyond that, and I refuse to support it. You put your money down if you want, maybe you’ll win. I won’t begrudge you it. Keep in mind that if InTrade were accurate, Kerry should have won in 2004. Good Luck!

View a longer clip on YouTube (about 90 seconds). The above clip is about 15 seconds.

If this link does not work, go to YouTube and type youtube.com/watch?v=zAjCaxN-_s8 or word search “scott brown obama wedlock”.

Brown was defending Bristol Palin having a child out of wedlock and had to throw the President in to make his point.

  19. TiredOfThePhonies says:

    Wrong, Dennis. Truy again.

The Obama born out of wedlock is a teabagger meme started by the rabid rightwingers who are currently polluting the political discourse.

  20. JoyceH says:

“Brown said he was unsure whether or not Obama’s mother was married at the time of her marriage to Obama’s father”

Sorry, but no. When you combine what he said with the way he said it, in context, he was actually saying, not that he didn’t know whether they were married, but that he didn’t believe that they were married. That little snort-n-smirk combined with “Well, I don’t know about that” conveys, “I don’t believe it!”

  21. Zython says:

If you think these people who bet their own money are smoking dope,

Of course they are, how do you think we got into the economic mess in the 1st place (and no, it wasn’t black people buying houses).

People tend to get even more emotional and irrational when it comes to betting money. If they weren’t, Las Vegas would be a slum (well, a low-class slum).

  22. Duros62 says:

“Brown said he was unsure whether or not Obama’s mother was married at the time of her marriage to Obama’s father”

Am I the only one who notices just how stupid that sounds?

  23. wiz says:

Exactly, which goes back to the original point: just another rightie hack that was throwing mud….
