Doing The Coakley Campaign’s Jobs For Them

Scott Brown had Rudy Giuliani in town to campaign for him.

This guy:

Hey, Red Sox Nation, you gonna allow a FREAKIN’ YANKEES FAN tell you who should be your senator? Come on, people, hit this one out of the park.

    Substantive!

Though, given the news the last couple days, it’s probably the best you’ve got. 2010 is going to be so much fun…

  2. Amused Observer says:

“Hey, Red Sox Nation, you gonna allow a FREAKIN’ YANKEES FAN tell you who should be your senator? Come on, people, hit this one out of the park.”

    LOL,
Probably the most intellectually honest thing Ollie has ever written.

  3. william says:

Yeah, Massachusetts residents should get behind the same gal who said catholics shouldn’t practice medicine in emergency rooms, the same gal who said Al Qaeda was out of Afghanistan, the same gal who kept innocent people in prison for her own benefit, the same gal who uses the twin towers in attack ads, refused to debate her opponent, and refused to prosecute a police officer who raped his 23 month old daughter.

    Yeah, she’s a winner alright.

  4. Quaker in a Basement says:

    Gal?

Who the heck are you? Buffalo Bill?

  5. jr says:

Scott Brown’s palling around with cousin fuckists

  6. Amused Observer says:

Hey Jr, You think that one up all by yourself?

  7. william says:

While Cloakey railroads innocent people and lets off guilty ones.

Fine candidate you got there slick.

  8. Dennis says:

    WTF???

Coakley Calls Curt Schilling “Another Yankee Fan”

There is seriously something very wrong with this woman. It’s like she’s being told to say insane crap just so Democrats can put all the blame on her afterwards.

Oh, this was not a party problem. The candidate was just a little bit of a nutcase and ran a horrible campaign.” will be the refrain.

  9. Dennis says:

On the subject of baseball and Massachusettes politics, here’s this supremely awesome baseball analogy:

Bill Buckner Curse Haunts Health Care?

  10. SaveFarris says:

That’s just what they said about Deeds.
That’s just what they said about Corzine.

Three makes it a trend. And in Massa-freakin-chusett(e)s!! It’d be like the Dems winning Utah.

  11. AwkwardSilence says:

Oh, come on- you guys are skewering Coakley for calling Curt Schilling a Yankee fan (which is admittedly stupid, although in her limited defense: he once said, post World Series, that he would consider playing for the Yankees, and in Boston that’s akin to proudly registering as a sex offender) when the guy stumping for Brown doesn’t remember 9/11. Or the anthrax attacks. Or the beltway sniper…

Perhaps not coincidentally, I notice you guys steered way the fuck clear of this thread.

And on an exhaustive, unrelated (but honorably necessary), tangent, I must leap in to defend Bill Buckner and his usage in that analogy.

Sure, people remember that flubbed grounder and bitch about how it cost the Sox the World Series, but few recall that:

    1) The Sox entered the tenth inning with a two run lead.
    2) For what were probably sentimental reasons, John McNnamera chose to keep the injured Buckner in the field and defensive specialist Dave Stapleton on the bench.
    3) Closer Calvin Schiraldi (who was pitching his fourth inning) gave up three consecutive two-out singles to bring the game within one.
    4) Bob Stanley came in and immediately threw a wild pitch, which Rich Gedman completely failed to block, allowing Kevin Mitchell to tie the game, and advancing the other baserunners.

The wheels were well off the cart by the time the ball was rolling between Billy’s legs.

Just had to get that off my chest; carry on.

  12. Southern Quaker says:

Martha Coakley couldn’t campaign her way out of a paper bag.

  13. Dennis says:

Martha Coakley couldn’t campaign her way out of a paper bag.

    It begins.

  14. Parthenon says:

Massachusetts sports fans are probably the only ones worse than Yankee fans, just by virtue of having both the Sox and the Patriots. That there’s a perfect storm of asshole.

    It begins.

What begins? She is a terrible candidate. Even if she won by 20 that would still be true. What kind of candidate doesn’t like getting out and shaking hands, meeting people, etc.?

  15. Dennis says:

That’s exactly why it’s such a great analogy, Awkward Silence, at least if she loses it. She’ll get the blame by Dems and the nutroots, but it won’t be all her fault.

  16. fafaroo says:

It’s like she’s being told to say insane crap just so Democrats can put all the blame on her afterwards.

Which raises the questions, who tells you to say all the insane shit you say. And why?

  17. Dennis says:

I already said she was a terrible candidate, Parthy. Bewilderingly bad at this late stage of the game.

What begins is the blaming it all on her in anticipation of a disastrous loss like it has nothing to do with the Obama agenda or HCR.

  18. AwkwardSilence says:

That’s exactly why it’s such a great analogy, Awkward Silence, at least if she loses it.

From your perspective, yes, but without the necessary exposition I can’t imagine it was the author’s intent to go beyond “Bill Buckner = FAIL”.

I suppose I’m making too big a deal of this relatively minor point, but hey, someone’s got to stand up for the guy…

  19. Indeed says:

Is it because she has tampons in her ears? Is that it Dennis?

  20. Southern Quaker says:

Dennis I don’t think the Mass race has much to do with Obama, one way or another. For some reason, women pols in Mass have a history of running lousy campaigns. It’s not just Coakley, and it’s not restricted to democratsl

Women have been elected to just four statewide offices, none of which have been governor or Senate. Rep. Niki Tsongas (D-Mass.) in 2007 became just the fourth woman elected to Congress in state history, and the first in a quarter-century.

Tsongas’s win aside, the state has been particularly unkind to female politicians in recent years. State Treasurer Shannon O’Brien (D) and Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey (R) have lost the last two races for governor, and when O’Brien ran in 2002, the acting female governor, Jane Swift (R), was shoved aside by her party in favor of Mitt Romney (R).

  21. Southern Quaker says:

I should add, “Mitt Romney the carpet bagger,” making it even more of a humiliation for Swift.

As progressive as Massachusetts is on most issues, politically it’s still a good ol’ boys club.

  22. SaveFarris says:

Hey, hey, hey. Let’s not sell Celtics fans short.

  23. Amused Observer says:

Yes Southern Quaker, a Republican who campaigns as the 41st vote on healthcare being within reach of winning the Senate seat of the liberal scumbag Ted Kennedy has very little to do with Obama and is all about the patriarchy.

  24. daniel rotter says:

Amused Observer prefers his scumbags to be more of the conservative variety.

  25. SaveFarris says:

    WWMJKD?

What would Mary Jo Kopechne do?

  26. Rheinhard says:

    Speaking of conservative scumbags…

Erick Erickson, assclown in chief @ Redstate, is subtly encouraging his drones to jam phone lines and disrupt Coakley campaign office operations

I look forward to cadres of mouth breathing Redstaters being sent for a nice long vacation to federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison

  27. Amused Observer says:

    LOL Rheinhard,
What, you have a problem with the tactics of Obama’s mentor Alinsky?

  28. abanterer says:

Interestingly, that law prohibiting long distance phone calls for the purpose of annoying and all that, was signed by Bush, in 2006. So, it is ironic that Erik of Erickson and Erik of Erickson’s Ericky horde of Eriks are playing dodge with this law, in a brazen attempt at rat fucking.

Alinsky might have tried this in the 60′s, when the fine art of rat-fucking was a fun game for everyone, but it was not then illegal, and wasn’t really tried. But, if AO has some sort of evidence that Alinsky has either done this since 2006, or encouraged people to do so, then he is obligated to approach the justice department and provide his information.

  29. Rheinhard says:

Well, AO, considering the only major conviction I know of for these tactics is of a major right-wing REPUBLICAN activist

For nearly a decade, Allen Raymond stood at the top ranks of Republican Party power.

    ~snip~

Raymond, 39, has just finished serving a three-month sentence for jamming Democratic phone lines in New Hampshire during the 2002 US Senate race. The incident led to one of the biggest political scandals in the state’s history, the convictions of Raymond and two top Republican officials, and a Democratic lawsuit that seeks to determine whether the White House played any role. The race was won by Senator John E. Sununu , the Republican.

Of course, considering most of the politically motivated violence and thuggery in this nation’s history has been perpetrated by the right, this kind of thing isn’t too surprising…

  30. SaveFarris says:

Democratics complaining about dirty tricks? Schadenfreudealicious!!

  31. abanterer says:

Weak sardony from a Con? Onanastic!

  32. Dennis says:

The smell of Democratic desperation is as rancid as ever in Massachusettes.

Taylor Marsh is disgusted how low Dems have sunk.

    Karl Rove on Steroids

    As too is Greg Sargent.

Ed Schultz admits cheating is the way to go now….

“I’d cheat to keep these bastards out”

    This is who they are.

This, sadly, is what they do.

  33. Amused Observer says:

“But, if AO has some sort of evidence that Alinsky has either done this since 2006, or encouraged people to do so, then he is obligated to approach the justice department and provide his information.”

It’s a bit of a low priority considering the man is dead.

  34. abanterer says:

Then, the discussion of whether Alinsky has committed a federal felony by breaking this law is moot. The question of same penalties laid on Eric of Erickson are much more topical, by possessing the characteristic of being alive, and his statement encouraging people to do just that. Hoorah for logic!

  35. daniel rotter says:

Alinsky was Obama’s “mentor?” That’s an interesting statement, since the latter was 10 years old when the former died.

  36. abanterer says:

Maybe Alinsky is the Wizard of the Rock of Eternity? That would make young Obama the new Billy Batson.

    SHAZAM!!!

  37. dougzinboston says:

Regardless of Mr. G, Schilling and Flutie standing behind Brown at last weekend’s rally will get more people interested.
