My son, as well, is assigned to the Vinson — he stayed with the ship even though he was due to rotate in June 08. I was scared when he helped with the evac from Lebanon a few years ago (with another ship), but I think this one scares me more with all the reports of lootings, disease & decay, aftershocks, and now there are escaped convicts roaming the debris and preying on the unfortunate victims of this disaster. I hope all our sailors & soldiers deploying to Haiti stay vigilant, safe and do us proud. My prayers & thoughts go with all of them. I love you Raeven!

    Christy,
I am so very sorry for your lost. You and your family are in my prayers.
I was scrolling through these posts because my nephew is on board the Carl Vinson. I also noticed that you said your father is a minister. My dad was a Methodist minister for 43 years.
Little did I know that we had prayed for father last week. I actually work at the Oklahoma Annual Conference right now.
Our VIM director, Jeremy Basset, led our conference office in a prayer for your father and the two other gentlemen he was with last week when we got the news they were missing.
My heart goes out to you and all who have lost loved ones in this tragedy.
May God grant you peace and comfort.
    Sincerely, Jan Polson
