jason campbell

So, are there still people out there who want to argue that Jason Campbell is the answer for the Redskins at QB? The whole team needs to be exploded from the QB down, this game is just an exclamation point on top of that.

  1. Truthfully, the ‘Skins could have had Joe Theismann under center tonight, and he, too, would have suffered the same fate as Campbell. I don’t think he’s the answer either, but as a Dallas Cowboys’ fan, I would LOVE to see Todd Collins next Sunday night.

Having the 4th best qb in the division, what could go wrong?

  3. Sam says:

    But…but…he’s BLACK! They can’t cut him! ;P

He may not be Randall Cunningham, but I can’t pin tonight’s debacle on him. He spent the whole first half looking at the sky or face-planted in the dirt. I was shocked at how bad his protection was. One blitz he had a linebacker and a safety come unblocked through a gaping hole between right tackle and right guard, it must’ve been 10 feet wide. He had no chance. Frankly I was surprised he didn’t get hurt quicker than he did. It was painful to watch.

That said, when Todd Collins came in the offense immediately looked better. Not good, but better.

Oh, and they really need to practice that “swinging gate” fake field goal before they try to use it. The kicker is supposed to follow the “gate” towards the goal line, and take a pass from the holder, instead of just running out of bounds and leaving the holder in the lurch to throw up a hopeless hail mary. Talk about inept execution. My old high school’s team executed that play way better back in 1983.

  6. What they need to practice, you cant learn in practice. That is: how to play football.

With every game Jim Zorn looks a little more like Gil the salesman from the Simpsons.

  8. James E. Powell says:

Well, Campbell has his limitations, but he cannot be expected to mature and get better in that environment. Still, I would give you Brady Quinn for him, even up.

  9. Fred says:

I watched for only a short while. I couldn’t take any more of the announcers’ gushing man crush on Eli.

  10. SaveFarris says:

That performance deserved a Jim Mora rant.

  11. Pryme says:

Yeah, Campbell calling that trick field goal play was the last straw.

  12. jmm says:

It’s not Campbell’s fault. When you have no offensive line, you’re screwed.
    Remember Patrick Ramsey.
I’m not saying Campbell is the future, but you can’t lay the game on him.

You know, having no O-line also contributes to losing one running back after another, too. I just hope Cartright lives through the last two games

O Dub, I like you a lot but if you saw that game last night and you thought Jason Campbell was the problem, you just don’t know a lot about football OR you are letting your emotions cloud your judgment. There were maybe 4 people who showed up to play last night on the your Deadskins team, that being Campbell, Fred Davis, Mason, and Haynesworth. That Campbell came back after he got knocked out of the game and NOBODY thought he would showed me how much heart he has. And it wasn’t like there was any chance of coming back to win the game. What you want to do is fire every offensive lineman, and the offensive line coach because their blocking was truly offensive. I don’t give a damn who it is, you can’t complete passes from your back.

I will be willing to bet you that no matter who they bring in at coach, they end up keeping Campbell as the QB and they should.

again with the ignorance and dishonesty from oliver. no one is saying that “jason campbell is the answer,” whatever that even means. the simple fact that oliver is unable or unwilling to accept is that jason campbell is the best QB available to the redskins.

  15. Buzz Killington says:

Hee hee… 12-4. Even my liberal forecast of 9-7 was too generous. It’s bad when the commentators crack on you during the broadcast.

  16. phein says:

    OW,

Troy Aikman was on Chicago sports radio yesterday morning, discussing the Jay Cutler quarterback controversy for the Bears, and pointed out that for any team, whatever problems they have on offense show up in the quarterback’s performance: Can’t block? QB throws hurried passes. Can’t run? QB blitzed all the time, or Defense can drop more men into coverage. Receivers don’t know how to run hot patterns? etc.

I have no comment on Jason Campbell as a QB, but it would be an analytic as well as a programmatic mistake to put all the onus for poor performance on a quarterback, especially a young one, if the problems really lie elsewhere.

  17. JustMe says:

I’m shocked that a team which recently won the superbowl 2 years ago would crush a team that is at the nadir of its 10-year-long decline.

  18. mg says:

The saddest thing is that the Redskins aren’t getting better. Not while Snyder owns the team. For example, who does a-hole Snyder replace a-hole Cerrato with, but the even bigger a-hole Bruce Allen, son and brother of the two biggest a-holes of them all – George Allen senior and junior. So many a-holes, so little hope.

  19. joaquin says:

How many times did the Giants rush 3…………and still got to your boy.
Dude, Campbell is a good QB. What’s needs to be blown-up is your turnstiles O-Line and their Coach Joe Bugel.

  20. Crusty Dem says:

Last night during the game, I had to explain what “Redskins” means to my curious 7 year old. I hope this is the best team they have until they ditch the racist, offensive, abhorrent nickname.

  21. Randy Brown says:

Learn to love the…RAVENS. (Though even if they make the playoffs, they are not likely to get past the damned Colts.)

  22. calling all toasters says:

Trade him for JaMarcus. And trade Snyder for Al Davis. Then you will know real pain.

  23. Again, I’m not saying all the blame is on JC. The blame is on the ownership who hired a bad coach and crap players. But what I am saying is, in the midst of all that mess, Jason Campbell is not the man.
