Uh, no, I’m proving that your claim that “nobody listens” to the John Birchers is b.s. I don’t consider a sitting congressman and very recent major party presidential candidate to be “nobody.”

I got to take issue with Oliver, however, I seriously doubt that the JBS has supported the “violent overthrow of the government.”

If the Birchers are advocating the violent overthrow of the government, O, then report them immediately — that’s a federal crime. What the hell kind of American are you that would sit on evidence that important? My god, you could be letting the next Timothy McVeigh go free!

The major difference between the Birchers and MoveOn is this: the Birchers are powerless, MoveOn holds great sway. The Birchers can be batshit crazy because NOBODY LISTENS TO THEM. MoveOn is pretty much the mainstream of their side.

Birchers support violent overthrow of the government. Conservative should be ashamed to be associated with them, let alone be sponsored by them. Weren’t you bitching about MoveOn a few days ago? The Birchers are a million times further out of the mainstream than MoveOn.

Ah, the Birchers. They’re nuts, to be sure, but at least they’re harmless and entertaining.

Short version: a few weeks ago, GOProud — a gay conservative group — announced they were gonna get a booth there. GOPAC said “sure, everyone’s welcome if you embrace largely conservative values. We’ll disagree on a lot of things, but everyone’s welcome.”

Then the Birchers said they wanted to go. GOPAC said “See above.”

And, I’m sure, made certain their checks cleared.

In other words, they’re being open-minded, big-tented, non-discriminatory, and letting the attendees decide which groups are worthy of respect, letting others suitably beclown themselves, and in general being inclusive and tolerant. Ain’t that what they’re supposed to do?

I’ll repeat: the Birchers are nuts. But they’re entertaining and harmless ones, so if they wanna spend their money on this and expose their silliness to a whole bunch of people, why stop ‘em?

I’ve always thought that sunlight was the best way to handle the crazies. Let them show everybody how nuts they are so we can all laugh at them, and not get taken in. GOPAC, apparently, agrees.

Hell, might be worth attending just for the entertainment value. Imagine if GOPAC sticks GOProud and the Birchers next to each other?

From sponsor to cosponsor to two booths?

“Booth” does not necessarily delineate a small space. I have been to trade shows where a single company’s “booth” needed two ZIP Codes and had its own weather forecast. It just depends on how much they have to spend.

My boss is one of these John Bitch Society smoothbrains. Yesterday a listened to him yell at a secretary on the phone because he got caught speeding by an automated camera on vacation. The best part was listening to him tell her how this is communism and communism is marching across the land…all because he got caught speeding.
I thought this country put these tards in their place after McCarthy.

I recall studying the JBS in a poli sci course in 1962 when even conservative Nebraska Republicans regarded them as a leftist today would look upon Pol Pot. And now the JBS is only a bit off the mainstream Republican center. Even after a nuclear winter, the cockroaches will emerge first.

I’m sure Bill O’Reilly will send his stalkerazzi producer Jesse Watters to stake out the homes of CPAC organizers to demand they account for accepting sponsorship from such a hateful and manifestly crazy organization; just like he excoriated the CEO of JetBlue airlines for being a corporate sponsor of the YearlyKos convention 2 years ago.

… but I won’t hold my breath waiting.
