This network is owned by the same media consortium that owns the NY Post and WSJ, the former a hive of high-decibel opprobrium from the likes of Andrea Peyser; the latter home to John Fund’s predictably reactionary right-wing OpEd page. There is no liberal-owned/directed equivalent to the News Corp synergy machine. Citing exceptions as the rule is a hackneyed right-winger trick. But, again, is there anything in the mainstream media as focused and vertically integrated as News Corp/Fox News?

Of course not. So on the one hand, we have a demonstrated partisan media outlet. And on the other hand we have accusations of some nebulous construct–”the liberal media”–the existence of which is trumpeted 24/7 by … Fox News.

Seriously, righties, just STFU and enjoy your mastery of the moment. That you’re not in charge says more about your failure to wield power effectively, and not your ability to grasp power when conditions are favorable.

A die hard liberal will tend to see a cold and ruthless corporate media geared entirely toward profit for its major shareholders.

Olberman lists what, twenty or so conservative voices in the media? Hell he even leaves out, off the top of my head, Malkin, Hume and Savage, but can you list half as many liberals? Hell I’ll even give you Olberman on that list already. Who else would get as much exposure and be as liberal as Hannity or Limbaugh or Beck or O’Reilly or Coulter or Liddy or Medved or Dobbs or Horowitz or Ingraham or Stossel or Goldberg or Cavuto is conservative that you could possibly put on that list?

And please don’t just say “All of them” as though that passes for clever anywhere.

Give us some evidence, please, of how the MSM is biased on the side of liberals. Not some study by the Heritage Foundation, or whining about how unfairly George W. Bush was treated by the media :rolls eyes:. But some honest-to-god links to stories you felt were egregiously biased. Preferably stories that had traction and wide media coverage.

And as I noted before, the conservatives are, for the most part, confined to the ghettos of talk radio and Fox News.

Oh good grief. Is FOX the #1 cable news show or not? Does O’Reilly regularly beat Olbermann in the ratings or not? Is Rushbo the #1 talk show in the nation or not?

Buy a clue: you can’t simultaneously be down-trodden and “we’re so popular because the American people really agree with us” at the same time.

Imagine Olbermann were to talk about the racial balance of Major League Baseball, sneering at the thought that Asians were underrepresented. And then he were to list each and every single Asian player in the Major Leagues. How do you rebut that? Do you look into the racial background of every single player that he cited, looking for some sign that Olbermann misrepresented it?

No, you just point out that Olbermann has engaged in some highly selective sampling, and ignored the overwhelming majority of the entire class he was discussing.

To say that the mainstream media is very biased on the side of the liberals is not to say that there aren’t conservatives — just that the liberal bias isn’t absolute. And as I noted before, the conservatives are, for the most part, confined to the ghettos of talk radio and Fox News. The rest of the mainstream media — and that “rest” is vast indeed — is largely the domain of liberals.

And Olbermann, with his overwhelming focus on those two ghettos (as well as in his citation of opinion columnists, who are PAID to express their opinions), proves the point that he’s trying to refute.

As well as affirming what a complete and utter douche he is.

If you dislike his personal style or manner, that’s obviously your prerogative, Joe. But as Duros asks above, can you dispute what he says? Can you engage him on the facts, rather than whether you find him pompous?

When he’s taken off MSNBC’s airwaves I won’t cry…I won’t rejoice either. No one will…no one cares what he has to say except those who share his same hate filled ideology of anything they don’t agree with (if its right/left…pagan/Christian…fries/yogurt…anything).

I believe this stems from the undercurrent of “The Family’s” control of the conservative base. Organized religion is really good at keeping the flock in line and under control, but several millennia have shown that they are unable to invent new solutions to cope with a rapidly changing world. That’s the main difference between liberalism and conservatism and proof we’ll not find solutions from the “tea-baggin’” right wing. The likes of O’Reilly, Limbaugh, Beck, and Hannity: No new ideas, just fear, plots, subversion, and in Beck’s case, Vapo-rub(tm) tears. It’s remarkable to watch the right-wing while they fight tooth and nail to slow the progression of any of Obama’s changes, then activate the talking heads to criticize Obama for not getting anything done.

You can call Keith Olbermann all the names you like, but what you seem unable to comprehend, is that he speaks for a majority of liberals who are busy working on solutions for today’s problems. The mere fact that you are name-calling assigns you to the ranks of the “do nothings.” You show yourself to be, like the rest of the Republican party, morally bankrupt and fresh out of new ideas.

Well, if Fox gets higher ratings than all the other cable news channels combined, doesn’t that make Fox…mainstream?

As in, popular. As in, most watched channel in cable news?
