Hank Gola: Dumber Than Jason Whitlock

Stop the presses! We’ve found a sports columnist dumber than Jason Whitlock. Hank Gola of the NY Daily News, come up and get your prize. In the most insipid column since Bill Kristol first put pen to paer, Gola argues that the PGA Tour should ban Tiger Woods:

While conspicuous silence continues to emanate from Finchem’s Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., headquarters, the time is coming for him to address whether Woods – the face of the PGA Tour – should be suspended for conduct unbecoming a professional.

Suspending Woods is reasonable and it’s right.

No, it’s the dumbest thing ever. And it’s clear Gola knows this because his backup is the suspension John Daly received. But Daly got suspended for activities that affected his golf play during tournament events. Were it not for the collision of a tree and a car, we still wouldn’t know about Tiger’s catting around.

What Tiger Woods is guilty of is being a bad husband and father. He’s guilty of moral failings, but he’s committed no crime. I’ve seen some people try to compare what Woods did to people like Michael Vick, or Ray Lewis, but Woods’ biggest crime as far as we know to this point is poor personal judgement.

Tiger Woods is the biggest draw the PGA has ever had, and it know appears that he performed at the top of his game while also in the midst of massive adultery. The PGA isn’t considering suspending him, and this column is stupid.

Hank Gola, you should resign. Immediately.
