I could listen to the Jamaican accent all day, even more than the Irish brogue. Nowhere else is English so musical. I’d watch C-Span if they showed the Jamaican parliament; I’d listen to spoken books if… does Miss Lou have one out?

Bennett was not a good writer but a fine performer; a classic example of how someone could be so-so in the creative arts, but great in the performing arts.

To read a book of her writing or poems is to shrug, but a video like this does her justice.
