Dana Perino: We Didn’t Have A Terror Attack During The Bush Presidency

I would like to congratulate Dana Perino on being the first conservative/Republican that I’ve seen in the media to acknowledge the years of propaganda from the right insisting that Bush kept America safe from terrorism, and thus transmuting the 9/11 attack either to the Clinton presidency or to some oddball moment in our history where there was no president.

  1. Anika says:

If that wasn’t a terrorist attack, then what was it? Granted, I don’t think Perino’s brain cell can hold much information, but that’s a HUGE change in history.

  2. jr says:

9/11 was an aviation accident. The anthrax mailing was a postal mishap.

  3. Amused Observer says:

“9/11 was an aviation accident. The anthrax mailing was a postal mishap”

Islam is the religion of peace, etc.

I didn’t roll the tape but if Ollie quoted her in context I’d say that’s a brainfart. On the other hand if she was trying to express the idea that we didn’t suffer another successful Islamic terrorist attack on the home soil during the Bush years then I’d say Ollie’s just doing his dayjob for Soros.

    • In the time you spent writing that b.s. you could have clicked the video and see what she said.

      • Marco says:

That would require him to do something in order to know what he’s talking about. That’s not the wingnut way.

        SOROS!

        SOOOOOROOOOS!!!!!!!!!

    • bikelib says:

Hey, we have Soros. You have Scaife. What’s the problem?

      • timmy says:

It’s that Soros bears witness to the POWER of the Daaark Side! …and/or is in League with Satan. With weapons like those he can overpower 100 Scaifes (well, in the magical world of wingnuttia that is).

    • durablend says:

Oliver’s working for Michael Moore you dumbass! Get it straight!

      SHEESH!

    • SpiderJ says:

Even if that’s what she meant, it’s shameful of her and you to go on about how Bush kept us safe from terrorists as long as you don’t count that one little 9/11 thing.

The Secret Service doesn’t constantly issue reminders to the press that they haven’t had a president assassinated since Kennedy because they know enough not to spotlight one of their greatest failures.

    • AwkwardSilence says:

Forgetting about 9/11 is a brainfart?

I think a more accurate term would be a ‘brainshittingyourupperandlowerintestinesout’.

    • jojo says:

I took the 60 seconds to watch, and she was definitely quoted in context, AmusedObserver.

A brainfart is saying you’ve been to 57 states when you meant 47.

A brainfart is NOT engaging in a discussion about how your political opponent is poorly equipped to deal with terrorist attacks while *completely omitting* 9/11. That is either stupidity or intellectual dishonesty, and the fact that neither of the other people on camera corrected her either means that they are just as intellectually dishonest, or stupid, or that they weren’t listening.

Out of curiosity, what would your reaction have been if Obama claimed that Pearl Harbor didn’t happen under a Democratic President? Would you have written that off as a brain fart, as well?

  4. durablend says:

Cripes people–9/11 was obviously Obama’s fault! The terrorists knew he was going to be elected president someday so they crashed into everything to help make that a reality plus make the Republicans look bad in the process.

  5. soullite says:

Lmao, yes. We have 250 years with no 9/11 style attacks. so, obviously, the fact that GWB had only one 9/11 style attack proves that he totally good at keeping America safe.

Insane troll logic, folks. Apparently, it’s what’s for dinner!

  6. Rex Mundane says:

While the comment is mind-bendingly idiotic, its not even remotely surprising since its the very same case that really all of conservatism has been trying to make throughout the Bush years: No Terror Attacks while bush was president. Oh the specific words they’ve used to say so have metastisized repeatedly, from No Terror Attacks, to No U.S. Terror Attacks, to No U.S. Homeland Terror Attacks, to No U.S. Homeland Non-Anthrax Terror Attacks, to No U.S. Homeland Non-Anthrax Terror Attacks with casualty counts greater than 500 since 9/11 on a thursday in a month with a D in it, but this here, the “Bush = Never Attacked by Terrorists” is the locus of it all, the central idea they’re trying to get across and run with to bolster their argument, no matter that it’s completely, utterly, and insanely false.

  7. Bitter Scribe says:

So Bush gets 9/11 as a mulligan? A do-over? Just give him a clean slate and reset the clock from that point, eh?

If, God forbid, anything remotely that disastrous happens during Obama’s term, the people who now are criticizing him so bitterly and hysterically will rally to his side, the way the country did with Bush after 9/11, right?

  8. Zython says:

    I guess Pandagon was right.

  9. Michael Over Here says:

Wait, if a solo, unplanned attack on an army base counts as a terrorist attack (questionable) what does the beltway sniper attacks count as? By their own definition that’s a muslim terrorist attack inside the United States since 9/11. Doesn’t that destroy her own argument?

  10. Quaker in a Basement says:

Aw, cut her a break. She only forgot one!

  11. Amused Observer says:

My soundcard’s whacked and I can’t read lips very well.
So I guess Mike’s point is we’ve been attacked by islamic terrorists 3 times including 911. He’s got a point, actually we’ve suffered a few more than that. There was that guy on the college campus with the suv, a synagogue in LA ( I think) was attacked. Maybe a few others. Damn, those people are troublesome.

    • SpiderJ says:

      Yes. Islamic terrorists are troublesome.

I’m sure that’s what you meant when you trotted out the phrase “those people.”

There are a couple million people in this country who self-identify as Muslim. Unless you’re prepared to prove that a significant majority of “these people” are being “troublesome,” you can kindly go fuck yourself.

    • Michael Over Here says:

Those people? Seriously? WTF is wrong with you? Should we count off every shooting by a white guy over the past few years? How about the crazies on the right arming themselves for treason?

  12. Randy Brown says:

When did Perino morph into Kelly Bundy?

  13. mikefromtexas says:

I’m still waiting for these people to propose a statute to Tim McViegh. Or maybe name an airport in his honor.

  14. ‘I didn’t roll the tape but if Ollie quoted her in context I’d say that’s a brainfart.’

Ignoring the attacks that were the lynchpin of the Bush presidency is a brainfart? The attacks which occurred on his watch I might add.

Perino has taken her role as apologist and paid liar for Bush to a new low.

And your excusing her bullshit is not much better.

  15. Matt Osborne says:

Wasn’t John Allen Mohammed, the “Beltway Sniper,” a “terrorist” in the same way that Nidal Hasan is a “terrorist”?
