Palin Canceled Univision Interview Due To Lack Of Knowledge On Latino Issues

Of course, based on that standard she should have cancelled every interview.

A top adviser on Hispanic issues to John McCain’s presidential campaign said Sunday that a joint interview with McCain and Sarah Palin planned for Univision last fall had to be canceled because Palin was unprepared to discuss Latin America policy.

‘She did not feel comfortable speaking about issues regarding Hispanics and Latin America,’ GOP consultant Ana Navarro told Univision anchor Jorge Ramos in an interview. ‘Those are not topics that come up frequently in Alaska. So she asked to cancel the interview and, unfortunately, you were already there.’

Now, if you read a paper on occasion, maybe you could inform yourself about these issues. Seems to me that a VP candidate would have to have something to say about, say, immigration.

I dislike Palin as much as the next person, but on this one, I think you need to support her decision. She wasn’t comfortable with the material so she decided to not go on national TV and make a fool of herself in front of an important voting block.

I am not saying this excuses her not knowing anything about the issue. She was runing for VP of the U.S. – she MUST know about these things. But it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

    WTF? Support her decision?

She should have thought about those things before agreeing to be the VP nominee on the Republican ticket last year.

“But it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Did you not see any of her appearances doing the Presidential campaign?

It’s an issue that you can’t recite the mantra of “lower taxes let small business owners keep more of their money and put that money into the economy and into the hands of business owners and its gotta be about job creation too”

She only has one policy position, and it doesn’t fit “hispanic issues”.

  8. calling all toasters says:

Actually, this looks like a shot from the McCain people– it’s not her saying this. The weird thing is, who scheduled this joint appointment? They’re about as likely to appear together as Gore and Holy Joe.

I support her decision to tell all Hispanics, “The GOP doesn’t care about you!”

  11. A politician who doesn’t know something ( or for that matter, anything ) foregoing an interview?

    How refreshing!

Think of the silence on Sunday morning, if every politician were that humble.

  12. Jamaicafest says:

I wonder what issues of public interest is Sarah Palin qualified to speak about.

  13. Quaker in a Basement says:

if every politician were that humble.

Humble? Humble would be if she refrained from talking about any subject on which she is unqualified. Ms. Palin makes observations on all manner of subjects on which she is uninformed.

  14. Perhaps if she decided her mythical political aspirations were more important than hawking a book authored by someone else, she might be in a position to study up on what it takes to be a viable political figure in modern American politics.

But that doesn’t seem as easy as making money from duping gullible troglodytes and indoctrinating them into her cult of celebrity social climbing.

  15. ‘Think of the silence on Sunday morning, if every politician were that humble.’

Humble is not the same as witlessly incurious or intellectually indifferent.

  16. Humble is NOT considering yourself worthy to judge a woman who has been the Mayor of a small town, and the Governor of a large state, when you have done neither.

Imagine if Palin actually did that. The bitch wouldn’t be able to open her mouth AT ALL.

Have Beck, Hannity et.al. ever been a small-town mayor or large-state governor? Or, for that matter, have they been a state legislator, US senator, or president?

Using your logic, Beck, Hannity et.al. should shut the fuck up…and so should you.

    Stupid on its face.

First off, we judge these sorts of people every time we have an election.

Secondly, I don’t give two shits that she was mayor of a small town – whoop de freaking doo, Wasilla, Alaska! Home of more caribou than people. Good for her. Who cares?

Thirdly, she’s only been governor of a small state. You’d be hard-pressed to argue that land mass matters all that much when it comes to governorships.

Fourthly, you need to look in the fucking mirror, Frank.

And yet you feel worthy to judge the first African-American to get elected President.

    Fascinating.
