Conservatives Pushing T-Shirts Calling For Obama’s Death
Tweet
Now being pulled by CafePress, but there was a market for them.
The shirts had Psalm 109:8 which says:
Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
The right keeps rooting against America.
And I’m sure this brand of rhetoric has nothing to do with it. Nothing at all.

Actually it is worse in context.
8 Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
They are the monsters we always knew they were.
Whoa, whoa, hold on a second. Wishing death and suffering on one’s enemies is Islamic, not Christian! This is one of them liberal Bibles you’re quoting from, I’m sure. Communist.
These are billo’s “traditional Americans”
In context, the Psalmist appears to be talking about what his enemies wish on him.
In other words, not only is the sentiment reprehensible, the teabaggers are quoting the bad guy’s wishes for King David.
Something tells me that “the Liberals did it too!” crowd won’t be as vocal on this one.
CafePress put them back up and is now selling them. Zazzle pulled theirs but they are still selling the products that advocate shooting POTUS CLICK HERE:

Frank Schaeffer put it best. They truly are trawling for assassins.
Some like to claim it’s simply a means of trolling the left. There are plenty of ways to piss off the other side of the aisle that don’t involve advocating violence against them. They are goading themselves into action.
If and when someone takes a shot at Obama, some of them will mouth phony platitudes about what a tragedy it is for his family, but he brought it upon himself for not reaching across the aisle sufficiently. Others will openly celebrate. And none of them will see any problem in it, for as far as they are concerned the country was saved from teh ebil soshulist n***a.
They lose an election so they’re working themselves up into an assassination. What a bunch of nauseating fuckwits.
but he brought it upon himself for not reaching across the aisle sufficiently.
Fuck. That. One can only reach across the aisle and get your hand smacked away just so many times.
Fucking traitorous scumbags. I never liked W. and still think he lost the 2000 election, but I never wished him dead.
Matthew Henry’s Commentary (to be found online, one of several standard commentaries) says this about Psalm 109:
The original citation refers to a spiritual death.
The T-shirt line and bumper sticker refer to impeachmnent. Unless you’re an anti-Christian bigot, and are accustomed to thinking horrible things about Christians regularly.
Your prejudice is showing.
Let’s take a look at what Henry actually says about the passage in question.
http://www.ccel.org/ccel/henry/mhc3.xix.cx.html
1.” . . . but it is certain that in penning it he had an eye to Christ, his sufferings and his persecutors, for that imprecation (ver.
is applied to Judas, . . .”. Given the definition of imprecation as the “act of calling down a curse that invokes evil” verse 8 according to Henry represents David calling down a curse against Judas. If we were to accept your view that means that David wanted to impeach Judas. Don’t think so. if you’d read Henry’s description of the passage you’d see that once David’s foe is removed from office (verses 6 and 7) the punishment is meted out in verses 8 and 9 and that is an early death for the foe and his family.
Strike 1.
2. Henry follows that by stating that “He prays against his enemies, and devotes them to destruction, ver. 6-20″. Devotes his enemies to destruction = impeachment? I think not.
Strike 2.
3. And henry goes on to say: “That, being condemned, he should be executed as a most notorious malefactor. (1.) That he should lose his life, and the number of his months be cut off in the midst, by the sword of justice: Let his days be few, or shortened, as a condemned criminal has but a few days to live (v. 8); such bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days.”
And I’ll recap and type slow to aid in absorption in referring to V.8 Henry says:
THAT HE SHOULD LOSE HIS LIFE, AND THE NUMBER OF HIS MONTHS BE CUT OFF IN THE MIDST. . . . DECEITFUL MEN SHALL NOT LIVE OUT HALF THEIR DAYS.
Strike 3.
You may want to revisit Henry again.
“The T-shirt line and bumper sticker refer to impeachment.”
Right, because the process of impeaching Obama would take such a short amount of time that it could accurately fit the “few” part of “Let his days be few.”
That’s a tad more than just a “spiritual death,” Frank.
Oh, okay. So his wife will only be a “spiritual” widow.
Suddenly, you’re all Biblical scholars? Look, it’s this simple: If you want to believe that these people want Pres Obama to die, and his children’s lives to be ruined, go ahead.
You have never denied hating, mistruting or fearing Christians. Why start now?I say, “Keep the fire burning!”
If you look at “(D) vs (R)” Electoral Vote count maps, you will see that it is basically the states along the Mississippi that change hands and determine the outcome. Keep accusing them of racism, keep sniggering at the name “teabagger”, and demeaning and maligning them, and you will make them an enemy.
And Obama’s days as President will be few.
And , speaking of making enemies …
Suddenly, you’re all Biblical scholars? … You have never denied hating, mistruting or fearing Christians.
‘scuse me? When exactly did you earn your divinity degree? And mayhaps you should take a second look at my handle, Frankie. People in glass houses, and all that.
and what the hell does Kennedy being barred from communion for supporting abortion rights have to do with this thread? The bishops have been threatening this for years now.
You have a very unfortunate habit of typing faster than the speed of thought.
1. “Suddenly, you’re all Biblical scholars?”
If your inability to read Henry for meaning is an indicia, yes I am relatively speaking.
2. You are the one that brought up Henry and then, when confronted with Henry’s own words, words that contradict your strained interpretation of their meaning you splutter on about others claiming to be biblical scholars? This would be laughable if it weren’t so sad.
3. So here again is your designated scholard Henry on Verse 8:
“That, being condemned, he should be executed as a most notorious malefactor. (1.) That he should lose his life, and the number of his months be cut off in the midst, by the sword of justice: Let his days be few, or shortened, as a condemned criminal has but a few days to live (v. 8); such bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days.”
Tell me exactly how “he should lose his life” how “as a condemned criminal has but a few days to live” and how “shall not live out half their days” refers to impeachment.
You cannot do it because your designee Henry said the opposite of what you claim he said. Sad. Very sad.
“You have never denied hating, mistruting or fearing Christians”
Really? I have?
Well if that’s the case please don’t let the people at my church know or my days in office as leader of Missions may be numbered. I would hate to see all our unfinished work feeding and sheltering the homeless in my community, rebuilding houses in NOLA, supporting orphanages in Central America and Eastern Europe and providing medicines to the Sudan get bogged down during my impeachment hearings. And please don’t let the people in my Church’s Bible study group know or they won’t let me participate any more. And oh, please don’t let my diocese know as they may not let me keep dioscesan position.
Yeah, but I hate Christians.
Suddenly, you’re all Biblical scholars?
More so than you, that’s for sure.
Let’s look at the text, shall we?
“Let his days be few; and let another take his office.”
Nope, nothing about “spiritual death”, therefore, you’re wrong.
You have never denied hating, mistruting or fearing Christians.
No, we hate and mistrust YOU. Slight difference.
And Obama’s days as President will be few.
Are you threatening the life of the PotUS? How un-American of you.

We already made them our enemy on January 20th, 2009.
“Are you threatening the life of the PotUS?”
From his sentence just before “And Obama’s days as President will be few”, it appeared that Frank was indicating that people who make Christians and/or teabaggers mad will react in such a way that they will murder Obama (And please, don’t give me that crap that the quote is in reference to impeachment of Obama or him losing re-election in 2012. I’ve already explained why the former is an implausible excuse.. The latter explanation doesn’t stand up as well, since we’re talking about 3 years until November of 2012, which doesn’t exactly represent a “few” days). That’s the only way to explain the “And Obama’s days…” sentence without viewing it as a weird non sequitur to the one that precedes it.

So, “no” only in the sense that he hopes someone else will do his dirty work for him? Makes sense.
Lonya, that was an excellent takedown of Pharisee Phrank.
