Nobody Insults The Queen!

A candidate in the Labour party is in trouble for comparing Queen Elizabeth to vermin. As a yank, the idea of the monarchy bewilders me, but as something of a UK fanboy, it’s clear this guy’s goose is cooked. You don’t insult the queen!

    I was walking to the shopping area of Stratford on Avon about 18months ago, passing by the theatres, when a menacing looking, smartly dressed man gave me a hard stare (I was on my lunchbreak and usually look dishevelled anyway). Just after that a couple of people walked past talking to Prince Charles, and then another plain clothes cop. Prince bloody Charles! I rang my brother, because I was already regretting not shouting “PAY YOUR TAXES, YOU ADULTEROUS PARASITE!” after him. Of course, I would probably have been arrested, and that would have stopped me getting my lunch as well.
    Hope you like my “nearest I’ll ever get to a royal story.”

    Oh, also, fuck the royal family; they are parasites. When their ‘home’ Windsor Castle burnt down, all of a sudden it was our nations home (ie they didn’t wanna pay). They had to be shamed into paying taxes, and some of them don’t. Prince Andrew spents his time and my taxes sliming around golf courses with tyrants and then has the nerve to talk about how lazy Brits are. What a shower of arseholes.

    Bryan,

    I remember that time. I interned briefly for a Labour MP. Labour was arguing that the Royals should pay for the repairs to their own house, especially considering that they basically “owned” England.

    Our office was bombarded with shakily-scrawled letters screaming “leave the Queen alone!” LOL!

    Its funny because during my 4 years there in the 70s (the Ted Heath coal mine strike years) – there seemed to be more republican sentiment then there is now. Scargill, Skinner, Tony Been . . .
    Any reason for that you folks can think of?

    We forget how many of our cultural tics come from the British. These people would be right at home at a “BUILD WEALTH NOW” seminar featuring Joe the Plumber, Donald Trump and that guy who writes books about the benefits of tossing your real father under a bus and finding a rich person you can suck up to.
