She Can’t Help Herself, Continued

It was always there, but without the layers of protection of the McCain campaign it is becoming clear that Sarah Palin shares a common trait with many fellow conservatives (Bill O’Reilly, Instapundit, for instance)… she is amazingly thin skinned (see more here). And now, it’s just one foot in the mouth after another because there’s no filter anymore.

Finally, a public figure dumber than George W. Bush.

I’m pretty sure she meant, just like a lot of high school-mentality people, she doesn’t like to hear OTHER people complain.

Sarah Palin Obsession at full throttle at the OW Dot Com.

  3. Matthew Hooper says:

When Newsweek devotes an entire issue to The Thrilla from Wasilla a few days after she’s on Oprah, you can hardly point to an blog post by Oliver and label it a weird “obsession”. In case you haven’t noticed, sh’es the media topic du jour.

I’m normally a fan of Media Matters, but their idea that the price of a book dictates its quality is way off base. Target, Amazon, Wal-Mart, and other major booksellers have all discounted top selling books to $9 apiece or so in the past few weeks to help spur holiday sales. It wasn’t just the Palin book.

Second, bookstores routinely sell huge books (think Harry Potter) below cost to get people in the door so they will come into the store and buy other books. It’s an extremely common strategy, and not an indication of the book being terrible.

That said, I bet the book is terrible and not worth nine bucks.

  5. Dennis says:

That only means there are a few more blog posts than normal, Matthew. And it is the collective here that is obsessed, not just the leader of the collective.

  6. jojo says:

Dennis, I don’t think 5 Palin-centric blog posts in the past 3+ weeks qualifies as an obsession, especially when (as pointed out below), she is on a huge media push for her book.

When someone is actively trying to get their face on TV and sell as many books as possible, why would you consider a post-and-a-half per week about them on a political blog an obsession?

Exactly. A prime example of MMFA misleading and using misinformation to ‘monitor, analyze, and correct conservative misinformation.’

Also, a prime example of jealousy. Palin’s book has never been in trouble. It’s in it’s second printing.

  8. Swamptroll says:

Speaking of the Oprah interview, I’m glad it was so softball frankly.

she continues to flail rhetorically And the softer and softer the interviews get the crazed and crazier Palin seems, as any pretense of her “being under attack” disappears

  9. Dennis says:

    Two suggestions for you, jojo.

First, go up to the search bar here and type in ‘Palin’. Observe and then let’s discuss.

Then do the same thing at MMFA. 24 full pages of entries alone on Sarah America.

    Obsession defined.

  10. Matthew Hooper says:

Ah. So all the people who are buying up her book and watching her on TV incessantly – they’re the “collective”? But wait, I thought the teabaggers hated commies? I’m confused.

  11. Dennis says:

You guys are the collective, Matthew. You are confused, yes.

  12. Oliver says:

Yes, its totally shocking sites that talk about politicians in the news would talk about a politician in the news.

And before you say it, yep, we’re totally terrified of her the way were totally terrified of her last year. Oh. Please. No. Don’t. Nominate. Her. Please. No.

  13. In no time I bet the moron will be telling us that Oprah rhetorically waterboarded her. “Gosh darn it Oprah, why can’t ya tell tha truth??”

  14. Matthew Hooper says:

    Ah. I see.

So, why exactly are we “the collective”, when it’s the conservatives who are enforcing ideological purity these days? It doesn’t seem to make much sense. Can you clarify that for me? Thanks.

  15. Dennis says:

RINO’s suck, Matthew. So did Dede Scozzafava. Why go through the same problems you guys are going through now as a result of Rahm Emmanuel and Howard Dean’s 50 state strategy in 2006 electing conserva-Dems in red states? Especially with the tide in our favor.

  16. gumby says:

Dennis, how’s your Oliver Willis obsession these days?

  17. Dennis says:

I don’t fault OW for feeding you guys what you’re obviously starved for, gumby.

BREAKING NEWS: MUST CREDIT MEDIA MATTERS!!!!!

Washington, DC — After extensive research, the independent consumer watchdog group Media Matters can confirm that the new video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a complete and total bust. Shops ranging from Amazon, Best Buy, and hundreds of other stores are obviously trying to clear out inventory of this massively unpopular game.

“If this game were so popular, why aren’t they selling it at full price?” questioned Media Matters CEO David Brock. Senior VP In Charge of Exposing Marketing Disinformation Oliver Willis added “These stores are desperate to clear their backlog of inventory. They can’t get rid of it fast enough!”

  19. gumby says:

…how’s your Oliver Willis obsession Dennis?

  20. Dennis says:

I don’t fault OW for feeding you guys what you’re obviously starved for, gumby.

  21. Dennis says:

Going berserk over ‘Going Rogue;’ Democrats’ reaction to Sarah Palin book and publicity

“You know how sometimes a friend tells you how much he/she doesn’t really care about….

…someone else. Really doesn’t! And repeats it a sufficient number of times that you become convinced of precisely the opposite?…”

  22. gumby says:

    Meds not working, huh?

  23. Thanks for filling us in on what Laura Bush’s former press secretary thinks, “liberal” L.A. Times.

  24. fafaroo says:

Dennis, I agree with you! Sarah Palin is insignificant. She doesn’t matter. I share your concern for why anyone, anywhere pays any attention to her.

  25. Dennis says:

I agree with you that the collective here is afraid of her and is letting their obsession for her drive them bonkers, fafaroo.

I’m glad we could agree on that.

  26. mambochicken23 says:

I agree with you that the collective here is afraid of her

BAAAAAAHAHAHAHA! Clown, you made me spit OJ onto my keyboard!

Yes, we are terribly afraid of her. Yes. Go with that. Please. I’m begging you.

  27. mambochicken23 says:

    So what else is new?

  28. jr says:

“why can’t everyone be like Greta Van Susteren”-Sarah

  29. Joey Doughnuts says:

“Finally, a public figure dumber than George W. Bush”

That is so true. I think that is why I love watching her talk. You have to watch with anticipation of her next moronic statement. I won’t deny it, I love watching her. She is like that really stupid kid in class that you hope raises his hand and once again makes himself the fool of the group.

  30. fafaroo says:

Oh gee, Dennis. I must have misunderstood you. You mean you take her seriously?

  31. Dennis says:

I was agreeing with fafaroo, Young Chicken mambo.

  32. MrGreyGhost says:

“Yes, its totally shocking sites that talk about politicians in the news would talk about a politician in the news.”

Except, and you might’ve missed the news, she’s not a “politician” anymore. OW just can’t admit that Palin is a convenient distraction for all of Barry’s current failings–the CURRENT Pres. is losing independents by the truckload, getting beat up by his own party for all his policies and lies, all the while losing cabinet members every week. By why note any of that when you can talk about Citizen Sarah and keep sipping on some of that good Obama kool-aid.

  33. fafaroo says:

Dennis, do you think Sarah Palin should be taken seriously? Simple question. I wonder if you can answer it.

  34. Joey Doughnuts says:

Fine. She is not a politician anymore, agreed. She lost that title when she cut and run from her job as Governor. When she quit her state, she became an ex-politician. She is however putting herself into the spotlight by going on talk shows and news programs and promoting her book. As she continues to go on TV and demonstrate her ignorance, we will continue to point and laugh at her. So yes, you are right, she is not a politician. She is really nothing more then a reality TV personality. Like I said, sometimes it’s fun to watch the dummy in the room speak.

  35. Burn says:

Gosh, you’re so right! Maybe Obama will do the right thing and use Sarah as an example and just run away from his obligations and duties, because gosh darn it, people are saying mean things about him! OH boo hoo!

Sarah sez “only dead fish go with da flow!”

  36. Burn says:

Oliver I think you were spot on with the title of this post “She cant help herself” and that made me think of the awesomeness of the band Journey with their 1986 hit “The Girl Can’t Help It”

Take it away, fellas..substitute ‘he’ for whoever you wish and it gets funnier

If he could hold her, so close in his arms…again
    If she could show him
The letter her heart forgot to send…why
They’re livin’ dreams on their own
    Ooh they’ll never stop running

The girl can’t help it, she needs more
He hasn’t found what he’s lookin’ for
They’re still standing in the rain
He can’t help it, and she’s just that way

    And when he calls her
She tells him that she still cares
    Under the moonlight,
He wonders why she can’t be there…why
Why do they go on alone
    When they’re missin’ each other

The girl can’t help it, she needs more
He hasn’t found what he’s lookin’ for
They’re still standing in the rain
He can’t help it, and she’s just that way

The girl can’t help it, she needs more
He hasn’t found what he’s lookin’ for
They’re still standing in the rain
He can’t help it, and she’s just that way

    There’s a fire
Ooh there’s a fire in his eyes for you
Don’t you know she still cries
Ooh do you know she still cries for you
    Fire
Ooh there’s a fire in his eyes for you
    For you she cries
Ooh do you know she still cries for you
    Fire
Ooh there’s a fire in his eyes for you
Ooh nothing stands between love and you

I like to watch monkeys at the zoo throw feces at each other too. This doesn’t mean I admire or am obssessed with a proven idiot like Palin.

Look, there’s one simple truth about Sideshow Sarah that you have to keep in mind. The men with big, BIG money aren’t going to back her play.
