What makes one pet "better" than another?

Cats don't behave in the same smile-inducing manner as the dog in the video does. And you need to "get a life" for seeming to take offense to reply in the manner you did to Oliver's extremely innocuous post.

Pixie, the tabby-cat i gave away as a kitten to a friend last year still goes all dog-like and gets super excited to see me whenever i go over for a visit, meanwhile my brother's Lab/Chow mix who used to get super excited whenever i came over must now be bribed with treats and a new squeaky toy to show me any regard...one must wonder, who is really the cat in this scenario?

The Egyptians worshiped cats as gods (and I might too) but the Greeks recognized dogs as true friends and companions.

I'm more of a cat person now (I like the independence) but I can recognize and appreciate the loyalty of dogs. And let us not forget that the loyalty of dogs is one of the oldest tropes in western literature. When Odysseus returned to Ithaca he was camouflaged by Athena in order to hide his true identity. Yet his dog, Argos, recognized him through Athena's disguise. While all others were fooled by the beggar disguise designed by Athena Argos was not fooled. Argos was the first to recognize his master to his house:

And a hound that lay there raised his head and pricked up his ears, Argos, the hound of Odysseus, of the steadfast heart, whom of old he had himself bred, but had no joy of him, for ere that he went to sacred Ilios. In days past the young men were wont to take the hound to hunt the wild goats, and deer, and hares; but now he lay neglected, his master gone, in the deep dung of mules and cattle, which lay in heaps before the doors, till the slaves of Odysseus should take it away to dung his wide lands. There lay the hound Argos, full of vermin; yet even now, when he marked Odysseus standing near, he wagged his tail and dropped both his ears, but nearer to his master he had no longer strength to move. Then Odysseus looked aside and wiped away a tear.

Decades ago, back in 7th grade, when I first read the Odyssey, I cried while reading the scene of Odysseus' reunion with his faithful dog.
