Exit Polls: Not About Obama

The media has a narrative to pull, facts be damned.

Still, majorities of voters in both states (55 percent in Virginia and 60 percent in New Jersey) said President Obama was not a factor in their vote today. Those who said Mr. Obama was a factor in New Jersey divided as to whether their vote was a vote for the president (19 percent) or against him (20 percent). In Virginia, slightly fewer voters said their vote was for Mr. Obama (18 percent) than against him (24 percent).

Among Corzine supporters in New Jersey, 38 percent said one reason for their vote was to express support for Mr. Obama, while 39 percent of Christie voters said it was to express opposition to Mr. Obama.

In Virginia, among backers of the Democratic candidate, Creigh Deeds, 38 percent said their vote was in part to support the president, while 42 percent of McDonnell voters said their vote was in part to oppose the president.

It’s cute how Republicans are so excited for crappy Dem losing in VA, a corrupt Dem losing in NJ, and a Republican not winning in a NY district they’ve held since the Civil War.

OMG KEEP IT UP RACIST BIRTHER TEABAGGERS!

  2. william says:

“crappy Dem losing in VA, a corrupt Dem losing in NJ”

Obama campaigned for both crappy and corrupt.

  3. Jaim says:

“A gigantic can of whoop-ass is being opened up in the Old Dominion”

Yes, Virginia. That incredibly blue state only one notch to the right of Massachussetts.

Have fun being crushed in 2012, racists.

  4. Jaim says:

Nobody has touched my ass today, Dennis. Stop projecting.

And it’s racism because the GOP has a ton of racist bigots. It is, after all, the party led by known racist Rush Limbaugh.

Like I said, have fun being crushed in 2012. Deeds losing in my former home state of VA kind of sucks, but it’s his own fault, not Obama’s.

    • Dennis says:

Jaim, Deeds is going to lose by 21 points. So will the Dem for Lt. Gov and for AG. 20 points dude. A rout. A sweep that has only happened once before in the state. Obama won by 6 last year. VA is not racist and the state didn’t swing 27 points toward racism in the span of one short year. A solid quarter of the electorate swing away from the party of Hope and Change.

You’re an idiot and you love throwing out a race card that you no longer even hold in your hand.

Keep your chin up and try to remember how you felt this time last year.

And forget that that imaginary euphoric bubble just burst.

  5. Chow Shark says:

    LOL!

Wingers try to hang onto any type of make believe moral victory that they can in order to make it look like it’s all about Obama.

  6. Jaim says:

“Deeds is going to lose by 21 points”

This is good news for John McCain!

But I understand, Dennis. Your dying party has so little going for it that off-year governor races are the only thing you have going for you.

By the way, there’s no tooth fairy either. Sorry to break the bad news to you.

“You’re an idiot and you love throwing out a race card that you no longer even hold in your hand.”

Ah, now you’ve gone and hurt my feelings.

“Keep your chin up and try to remember how you felt this time last year.”

My country and my president are no longer a global laughingstock. The Bush Recession is ending. America is moving towards a reasonable foreign policy. Obama hasn’t tried to sexually molest the prime minister of Germany. And he’s going to be re-elected in a landslide in 2012 while racist birthers like you hold up “Palin/Huckabee” signs, and I shall continue to laugh at what an ignorant buffoon you are.

  7. Dennis says:

Corzine trading at 14 on Intrade.

He was trading at 53 earlier this morning.

This has nothing to do with Obama and everything to do with racism per Jaim’s POV in Seoul.

  8. mambochicken23 says:

Facts don’t stop the idiot brigade. Nothing new here, move along people…

I really do enjoy that saps like Dennis actually think that this has much to do with Obama. The media has been pushing this as a story, and he falls for it hook, line, and sinker. Big fucking shock.

Fact: Exit polls demonstrate that this really isn’t a referendum on Obama.

Fact: Anyone who votes for or against a governor candidate as a statement with respect to a President is an idiot. Really stupid to vote for or against a governor simply because you do/don’t like the job that another guy higher up in the party is doing.

Fact: The wingnuts are exceedingly happy about today’s developments. This is hilarious. The scoreboard from the past 4 years now reads “Democrats: 192, Republicans: 8″. Good for you guys, though. Enjoy it.

Fact: Polls indicate that Obama’s approval numbers are slightly north of 50%.

Fact: Self-identification of Republicans in the U.S. citizenry is at historic lows.

    Fact: Dennis molests collies*.

Enjoy your governorships, cons. We’ll continue to have the Presidency for the next 7 years.

*May not be fact. But it’s interesting that Dennis hasn’t spoken up about the rumors linking him with collie molestation rings. The fact that he hasn’t denied these allegations is enough to give one pause. I really wish he would come out and deny it already, and put this matter to bed. And if anyone has evidence that Dennis does molest collies, come out with it! Let’s put an end to this issue.

    • mambochicken23 says:

Additional fact*: If another national election were to be held TOMORROW, and it was Obama against any Republican you wanted to throw at him, OBAMA WOULD WIN EASILY.

He’s not nearly as unpopular as you guys want to believe.

*not really a fact, per se, but I’m confident in the accuracy of the statement.

    • Dennis says:

Try not to let me or the election results tonight get under your skin, Mambo the Chicken.

Maybe you should do like The Biggest Loser at the White House is doing tonight and tune in to the Bulls game since these elections don’t mean anything, like you guys keep telling us is fact.

      • mambochicken23 says:

You’re not under my skin, Dennis. You’re more like a mosquito, always buzzing above the skin. I just recognize that you’re a dope if you honestly believe that this is a referendum on Obama. Evidence suggests it is not, logic suggests that it’s not (and/or shouldn’t be), and yet here you are, crowing about these election results in an off-year election.

        You want more facts? OK…

Republicans usually benefit from low turnout.
Off-year elections tend to have very, very low turnout.
Therefore, by these simple facts alone, we might expect that Republicans might fare relatively well in an election in November, 2009, when most people are not going to the polls.

I simply do not care about these election results, except inasmuch as they allow me to again demonstrate what an idiot you are. These elections mean nothing with respect to Obama. Sorry about your luck.

Maybe you should reflect about why you consider this to be such an important, monumental win for your side. A couple governorships in an off-year election, Dennis. Not that big a deal, truly. And certainly not indicative of any greater story in the national political picture.

So yeah… keep fucking that chicken though…

  9. Burn says:

This election is about the future of the GOP, not Obama.

  10. rip says:

Yes of course, Governors races are always referendums on the sitting President. Why when the people of California put Arnold back in office three years ago it was because we wanted to show our support for George Bush at the time. Isn’t it obvious.

  11. SaveFarris says:

OF COURSE that’s what someone would say after the ass-raping the Democratics took tonight. But facts are stubborn things.

Our host, as usual, was right on the money.

    Spin away…

    • mambochicken23 says:

Your first link doesn’t say what you (or the National Review) think it says, Farris.

      • rip says:

Your first link doesn’t say what you (or the National Review) think it says, Farris.

        Now there’s a surprise.

    • Enlightened Liberal says:

Why is it that cons always resort to butt-sex analogies- ass-raping, bending over and grabbing ankles, etc.

Seems to me that the Republic Party is a big tent closet.

  12. Jaim says:

If losing two governor slots is an “ass-raping” I’d shudder to think what the Democratic landslides in 2006 and 2008 were.

You guys are welcome to the governor houses in Richmond and Trenton. I’ll happily take at least seven more years of Dems in the White House and running both houses of Congress.

    Palin/Huckabee 2012!

  13. Jaim says:

And btw, Owens is winning in NY, a seat that Republicans have owned since the Civil War.

Does this mean Obama is being vindicated? Please wing-nuts, hope me!

  14. Enlightened Liberal says:

So Obama is supposedly weaker today. When he has 1 more Democratic Congressional seat than he had yesterday. Got it.

    • durablend says:

Now you’re getting it–when Republicans lose, it’s still a win, but when Republicans win, it’s a bigger win. Simple, see?

Oh, and I really think McCain needs to un-suspend his campaign again seeing as that Obama guy is on the ropes (and McCain’s “obviously” got him right where he wants him!)

      • Enlightened Liberal says:

See, we need to get better (or worse depending how you are looking at it) at spinning things.

For example, Corzine’s loss is clearly a repudiation of conservative economic policies, which threw millions out of work and resulted in the New Jersey budget imbalance. Republican balanced budget amendments made it impossible to submit a budget without tax increases.

So in fact, Christie’s win is a victory for ….liberals! Also.

        • Dennis says:

EL, it just means the Obama/Goldman Sachs Administration in New Jersey just went down hard. And that is good for everybody…. on both sides of the political spectrum.
