Threaded Or Not?
I’m generally pleased with the new theme I’m using (loads much quicker) but I was wondering if you guys preferred threaded comments or flat ones? Its set to threading now (you can reply to a specific comment) but I notice most of you commenting the old way. I don’t have a preference, but lemme know.
UPDATE: Per requests, I have now enabled you all to post comments using BBCode. Here is a quick n dirty layout of what code you can use.

I like threaded for the directed, personal smack down.
I agree with This jerkface, Michael Over There.
See what I did there, I subtly changed his screen name in my reply, thus proving my point and disproving his.
I like it. If I had one quarrel, though, I would say that when there is something of a conversation going, there gets to a point where the “Reply” button disappears. I’d like it to available after every individual comment, even if the new comments do not get indented further to the right. I don’t know how feasible that is.
Other than that, I’m a fan.
Threading is good. How about enabling BB Code for links and images?
I’ll look into it, though in the past every time I enable some sorta option like that people get the code totally wrong and I gotta fix.
I just enabled more levels of reply, so see if that works for you.

So as you can see, I’ve added bbcode support now. I’m not sure why the image is so smooshed, but its in there. Here’s a bbcode reference. [url=http://www.biggle.de/blog/bbcode-in-den-kommentaren-wordpress-plugin]here[/url]
Images now unsmooshed!

Great pic.
Like it. Just don’t ever require a log in or any form of comment rating system.
Dude, we need emoticons. Stat.
Perfectly executed.
I *really* like your new theme. I’m pushin’ 60 and colorblind. Unlike most sites I visit, your new theme doesn’t impose a two minute time limit before the “blinky lights,” tiny hard-to-read type, and butt-ugly saturated colors trigger migraines and projectile vomiting.
The new layout is gorgeous in an Ansel Adams kinda way. The fonts are easy to read and the layout itself asks to be read because its so friendly to the eye.
Your old theme was nice; this one knocks me out. Thanks. And *please* let the designer know how friendly at least one colorblind person finds it.
What? I would absolutely love both of these. ThinkProgress got monumentally better when they made it possible to troll-rate down the stalkers who waited on the RSS feed to make sure they could consistently make a first comment on a post and derail.
I’ve also found rating systems are pointless usually, because they end up being whoever agrees with the site’s politics is +20 and whoever disagrees is -20, regardless of the comment’s actual value.
The new layout is great, best I’ve seen here I think.
are you an admirer of Billie Piper? That’s a surprise for me. I wouldn’t have put her as your type.
Great updtaes … the site looks sleek, elegant … very nice!

A way to edit or delete the posts to fix typos would be good.
I like the layout — I vote threaded.
Now if we could just move the comments to the right…
MWAHahahahahahahahahahaha!
So far, so good. Thanks, OW.
Dude, you’re so Korean-ized (not a word, but fits).
jk
I am in a agreement with Mario that we need a edit button.
Oh you would just love that, wouldn’t you?
IMO, I miss the Superman and Obama photos. Working them into the format would be nice, but the site looks good.
I guess I could give a little feedback on the iPhone layout. The discussions aren’t threaded there and you can’t reply to a specific comment. The problem becomes that as people start using the threading it becomes difficult to tell who people are talking to because everything is just chronological.
Also the previewsfor articles on the main page are too short for your writing style so it’s hard to get the gist of things.
Still it’s much better than having no iiphone theme at all.

Edit button would be helpful. The blog has a very clean design and is very easy on the eyes. Some blogs are way too muddled and feel inaccessible. The ease of this design draws the reader in. Kudos to whomever designed it.
Pictures would make it a real drag for the folks on dial up.

Those are my “meatworld” initials, so I couldn’t agree more. I was honored when O-Dub named his dog after me.
Interesting that if you use html tags, for example italics, it shows up italic in the preview, but not in the post. Now I am going to test the b code italic function.
[i]This is only a test[/i]
Okay, O-Dub, a little more tickling might be in order. In the preview, I saw the bb code tags, but it came out italic in the post. Conversely, when you use html, you see it in italic in the preview, but it shows up as normal in the post.
Running my own little test.
Trying the old way, using greater/less than for bold, italic, and underline and it looks good in preview.
Same as above but with brackets in place of greater/less for [b]bold[/b], [i]italic[/i], and [u]underline[/u] and it displays as typed in preview.
OK, the underline didn’t work, although it previewed as underlined. But looks like I’ll be sticking to greater/less than for tags.
