Hey Evan Bayh, Indiana Backs The Public Option
Tweet
Listen to the people.
In a Research 2000 poll conducted last weekend, 52 percent of Indiana residents said they favored the government offering everyone a government administered health insurance plan like Medicare. Another 42 percent opposed the idea.

Clearly 52% of indionians (Indians?) hate america and wish to ruin it with teh socialist devil.
These Conservadems are all bullshitting. When it comes down to the key votes they will all be voting for this.
The key is getting this into conference while dodging the buckshots from Conrad, Nelson, and Leiberman. From there I seriously doubt these cats will have the balls to face their constituents with “I wasn’t 100% sure about this so I denied you healthcare reform once again”.
I think this can happen before Christmas.
Evan Bayh (D-WellPoint)
Actually, it’s Hoosiers, RB. And yes, Evan Bayh is a HUGE sell-out to WellPoint and Eli Lilly.
Evan Bayh is a good guy and he’s very well-liked in the Hoosier State. He know’s what he’s doing and knows a likely rigged poll done by liberals with the sole intent of putting heat on Blue Dogs is not going to change his mind.
“Likely rigged poll done by liberals”??? So that’s the best that Mr. Semantic Precision can come up with today? Really?? Or is that like your hero Sir Viagra-man of the Dominican Vacations with his, “It doesn’t matter if he Obama wrote that thesis; ’cause we all know he thinks it”?
And Oliver: If you or anyone actually thinks that Bayh serves the interests of the voters of Indiana; then I would refer you to the other commenters (Mindy and jr)noting his real constituencies.
From the link, bikelib:
Read and learn, my friend.
According to David Plouffe, Bayh was just a mere coin toss away from being Obama’s choice for VP.
And his approval rating in Indiana by one recent poll was 73%.
Dennis,
Break out the scooby snacks! Dennis has actually backed up an assertion (“a poll done by liberals”) with a link to prove its a poll…done by “liberals” (a liberal interest group).
However, you didn’t provide any data to back up your assertion that it’s a “likely rigged” one. Did you dive into the crosstabs? Did you read over the questions in the poll?
How do you know that it’s a “likely rigged” poll?
So employing your usual M.O., as long as the pollsters don’t clearly and explicitly confess that they slanted the polling, then that excerpt doesn’t prove anything, right? Like I said, I’ve learned to use your M.O. on these threads: cling to ANY plausible deniability and concede absolutely nothing. Because you’re still just speculating; and we all know that someone with your passion for exactitude should never use a phrase like “likely rigged”, would you? “Likely” also means tons of plausible deniability, so I can continue to refuse any concession, right?
He doesn’t know for sure. Which means that he’s indulging in exactly what he routinely accuses the rest of us of doing.
bikelib,
If a poll was done that was conducted by a conservative institution with the purpose in mind being to show the results and put pressure on politicians to vote a certain way that they were highly in favor of, what would be your degree of skepticism? What would be your degree of conviction that that poll was likely biased to yield results a certain way?
Again, employing what is apparently the right-winger’s credo: I wouldn’t care what the facts are; as long as it furthered “My Side’s” agenda. Whatever it takes, baby. Paging Mr. Machiavelli…
That’s in the GOP wingnut playbook. Accuse others of the same personal failings that you have yourself.
No, see, mambo, I wouldn’t be calling you a failure for scoffing at a poll conducted by conservatives expressly for the purpose of confirming a belief that I was fighting for and wanted to use the results from that poll to embarrass politicians I was afraid were going to vote against my beliefs.
If I did posted a poll here in which that was done and told a politician to ‘Listen to the people.”, I would expect the same rebuke from you and the rest of the peanut gallery.
Little known trivia fact, btw: Bayh was in the same fraternity as Mark Spitz and the guy that directed the movie “Breaking Away”.
My goal is single-payer healthcare with universal coverage. If it takes a skewed poll to help accomplaish that goal, then so be it. Lives are at stake. If a certain number of religiously crazy right-wingers can justify killing an abortion provider in order to save innocent life; then I sure as fuck have no problem with a little polling hanky-panky if it helps bring my wish for universal healthcare to fruition. Ends, means, yadda, yadda
