BSG started pretty strong, but I really wish someone had stopped me from watching the final season, and especially the final half-season (the "Season 4.5" series of discs). I'll never get those neurons back. The ending was just so inconceivably awful. I heard all the vague, spoiler-free warnings before Netflix had the series available, and I just didn't pay attention.

The "Caprica" prequel they released some time ago really doesn't make the new series it premieres look promising - it looks like they took all the wrong lessons from BSG, and think that portentious philosophy and navel-gazing was their strong suit. Oliver's summary of "The Plan" is similarly troubling - especially as there never seemed to be much evidence in the series that the Cylons really had a plan.

I was really disappointed, post-New Caprica, when the plan was abandoned and the series devolved into the Final Five maguffin.

For this reason, I really feel that Battlestar Galactica was somewhat overrated-- the praise for the series didn't match the product's latter half. This is sort of the problem with trying to milk BSG with spin-off series: because the original, while good, had many major disappointments, it's hard to build enthusiasm for the spin-offs. But I'll still probably watch "The Plan" anyway.

Most importantly Dean Stockwell was a hologram (my favorite TV show of all time).

I was really disappointed, post-New Caprica, when the plan was abandoned and the series devolved into the Final Five maguffin. I think the opening credits stopped mentioning "and they have a plan" in Season Four, which mirrored the disjointed bullshit the writers were throwing about.

And Dean Stockwell is Cylon Numero Uno! He was in Blue Velvet and a child actor in the 50s!

I highly doubt anybody who hasn't seen BSG is interested in The Plan. I mean it wouldn't make any sense to watch it, there's no point of referrence for them

Helfer's fine, but she keeps changing her look. OTOH, Grace Park can make me betray the human race at the drop of a hat.
