Vinny Cerrato Says Zorn Staying, Redskins Doomed To Failure

The Redskins Cheerleaders are the only thing not underperforming for the Redskins this season

Abandon all hope, Redskins fans.

Washington Redskins executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato said on his radio show Friday morning that Jim Zorn will remain the head coach of the team for the remainder of the season.

“Let me start by making a few things very perfectly clear: Jim Zorn is the head coach of the Washington Redskins, and will be for the rest of this season, and hopefully into the future,” Cerrato said on ESPN 980’s Inside the Red Zone.

In his opening remarks, which lasted about 15 minutes, Cerrato also defended the team’s organizational structure, called Steve Largent’s recent comments about the front office “off the wall,” and said this week’s news that Sherm Lewis would call the plays was meant to help Zorn, not undermine him.

Vinny Cerrato has no clue what he’s doing. He’s like George W. Bush running the team, but with more incompetence and less actual deaths (so far).

UPDATE: Riggo compares Snyder to Bernie Madoff.

    All set now.

    More like Baghdad Bob.

Yeah, ordering the head coach to let someone else call the plays is “not meant to undermine him.” Hilarious. And I’m starting to feel sorry for Jim Zorn now, because this is going to stick with him for a long, long time.

The only way Zorn isn’t fired before the end of the season is 1) if a miracle happens and the Skins win two or three games in the next few weeks, or 2) it becomes an ego thing for Snyder, where he’s by gum going to show you fans who’s calling the shots around here. I mean, isn’t Zorn essentially fired now? He’s a glorified quarterbacks coach if he can’t call plays on offense (because he sure isn’t going to call them on defense).

Those cheerleaders can call my plays all season long.

I assume you’ve seen this from The Onion.

I heard VC’s little rant. Didn’t mention how Sherm had his playcalling duties snatched from him while he was in Seattle, but that’s a minor detail, I’m sure.

The one thing that has greatly improved Redskins-related since Snyder took over — the cheerleaders.

If that very charming photo depicts “underperformance,” then we your readers humbly request that, for purposes of comparison, you post photos depicting “adequate” and “superlative” performance. Please. Thank you.

While they are lovewly ladies, I do have to wonder why the NFL even bothers at this point with dressing the cheerleaders at all. Let ‘em go neekid, I say.

Don’t worry, Oliver. Anytime you get down and depressed about the Redskins, just “Remember the Titans.”

  10. Jaim says:

You might as well wait till the end of the season though. Fire him now and the Redskins will still have a bad season. Wait until the end of the season to see what other coaches are going to given the boot.

Firing him now is just re-arranging the deck chairs. Not that I’d feel sorry for him, but the ‘Skins are screwed either way as long as Danny is in charge.

Those aren’t cheerleaders. They’re women in bikinis. Which is not a concept I am opposed to, but still.. they aren’t cheerleaders.

Call it wishful thinking, but I think this is the death knell “vote of confidence” from the management before they fire him after they lose to the Eagles Monday night.

With the bye week, Snyder and Cerrato will have plenty of time to find another completely unqualified and incompetent coach to overpay before they have to play another game.

Snyder seems to like former Redskins coaches – maybe he could recycle Richie Petitbon or Jack Pardee!
